- jump23, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1Great story - we need to do more to promote this kinds of things...
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1It mostly has been proven. They have been working with the cycles to increase the average lifespan well over 10 years.
But the nanolithium phosphate technology will help all of us understand and become more efficient with our use of gas.
Hydrogen makes no sense, because it needs electricity ( from oil or gas) to create hydrogen, only to be used or burned or used for fuel cells that convert that BACK to electrical energy. It is must more efficient to just use the electricity to start and finish with.
Plus the batteries are biodegradable - they turn to rust ( yes oxidation of metals is natural ) - Gaiahc, on 01/16/2008, -0/+0Can we view/discuss a bit more on the entire battery component? How about module or cell replacement?
- nasaman, on 01/16/2008, -0/+0As a physicist/electrical engineer I've worked on spacecraft batteries that last 15-20 years in the extremely harsh thermal environment of space. There is little doubt these batteries can also achieve extremely long lifetimes --it simply remains to prove it by lab life testing (accelerated cycling).
