Unless it can be done on-board (which would take just as much energy), or companies start exploiting solar energy somehow then electrolysis just won't cut it for consumer vehicle levels of H2 consumption.

- fooljoe, on 06/20/2009, -0/+1it's actually very easy to convert a traditional internal combustion engine to run on hydrogen (or CNG, for that matter). however, it makes almost no sense to do it, as hydrogen as a fuel will never be as economical as its alternatives (especially CNG or electricity, the only two "sources" of hydrogen approaching practicality, either of which would make much more sense powering a car directly.)
