- brendond, on 05/14/2009, -1/+17Twin Turbos = FTW. Anyone remember the F40?
- miketest, on 05/13/2009, -0/+13Seriously, that would attract a lot of chicks.
- disrupter, on 05/14/2009, -0/+12Yes, gold diggers mostly
- Hagsy, on 05/13/2009, -0/+8That is one sleek and mean machine - Just my kind of car - Become Pope - Might get one delivered!
- decker12, on 05/14/2009, -0/+7None of this matters until The Stig gets his (her?) hands on it.
- Gravey9, on 05/14/2009, -0/+6shouldn't?
- sonicpentatonic, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6I still think the F40 is the best "modern" supercar to come out of Maranello.
- CoD4, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6and?
- Demos27, on 05/14/2009, -1/+6"It has been rumored that Ferrari will use twin-turbocharging to make the most out of a smaller-displacement (think under 6 liters) V8 engine."
Is it just me or do N/A engines seem more attractive? - tzhu07, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Ya know, despite modern day supercars, my favorite exotic is still the 1987 Ferrari F40. Enzo's soul is in that car, and it's super-lightweight.
- camaroz06, on 05/14/2009, -2/+6If I only had the means...
Naw, I would buy a "regular" Ferrari as well as a Vette to turn into a monster. After that I would donate some money to a worthy charity to make me feel better. $1M+ is just too much for one car in my eyes (even if I had the $$$). It is a beautiful car though and looks to be a great piece of engineering. - ihavebeenseen, on 05/14/2009, -2/+6Sorry a "naturally aspirated" McLaren F1 crushed the F40.
- spritom, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Not sorry at all. The F40 was a fantastic car in it's era. Gordon Murray's F1 was another step forward when it was introduced as the F40 ended production.
- miketest, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Chicks have dicks??
- hacksign, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Anybody noticed the dude driving it??? Looks creepy but
Cool sunglasses - Cyberdactyl, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3I'm not sure, but I think that is rendered.
- breakbread, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3Ferrari's road cars are always directly influenced by their F1 division. When the F40 was created, F1 was still using forced induction. When F1 was using V12s, Ferrari were putting V12s in their road cars. Now, F1 is using V8s, so Ferrar use V8s in their road cars.
And The McLaren F1 came years after the F40. The F40 was the first production vehicle to hit 200mph. No fancy STM, ABS, etc. Just you, the car and the road. - CDNChaoZ, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3I wish Ferrari would work on a car that is at about the same level as a 911. They probably don't have the production capacity to pull it off though, nor do they have the expertise to create a daily-drivable sports car that doesn't cost the car's own value every couple of years to maintain. The F430 is nice, but bring back the Dino.
- sleepyness, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3God that's a good looking supercar.
- Staggx, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2I'm upset it isn't a (as much of) gas guzzling machine that it should be. But I guess if they can make it better with a smaller engine... ***** yeah. :)
- Grolsch, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2I wouldnt buy it even if I had the money. Id rent them instead. Today Ferrari, tomorrow Lambo and Koenigsegg for the weekends.
- Kuci06, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2That is one badass car
- Anand999, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2I agree. The Enzo is one amazing piece of engineering but it's not much to look at (unlike the F40 and F50 that preceded it). This one looks a bit better, IMO, but the rest of Ferrari lineup still looks better.
Still, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage if I found it there. - maximilen, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2And 700+hp? That's bonkers...Dudes are gonna be ***** dying in that thing!
- Drazzim12, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2Wrong.
Not only is it an unfair comparison (the F1 is almost a decade newer than F40 and has 150 more hp), but the Ferrari's engine is actually more efficient. Look at the stats:
F40: 478 HP/ 2.9 Liters= 164.83 HP/L
F1: 627 HP/ 6 L= 103.39 HP/L
The Mclaren is a little bit lighter than the F40, so it has a better weight to power ratio and so is faster. It's just meaningless to say the more powerful thing "crushes" the less powerful thing- that's obvious. You need to look into relative efficiencies. - GT35R, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2Im an all-motor person.
- InfiniteNothing, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2You must have missed the part where they said: "Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters indicate that weight could approach 2,200 lbs"
That's like an MR2 - miketest, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2I just want the opportunity to prove that money doesn’t make you happy.
- akatsuki, on 05/14/2009, -2/+4Wow it is ugly. Then again the Enzo was no beauty either. The last beautiful Ferrari was the 360 Modena.
- phatboyslim, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I'll have to hold out and get Bernie Madoff's pre-order at government auction.
- akatsuki, on 05/15/2009, -0/+1The 430 made a bunch of tweaks which sadly made it less attractive.
The Enzo may be functional, but there are plenty of cars that are better looking that perform as well - Koenigseggs, although awkward looking in some ways, are still better looking. The Zonda looks better as well. The MC12. The Carrera GT... All roughly at the same level of performance. - ampdj89, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1It's just a concept sketch people.
- techdever, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1for you, yes.. but for some billionaire/prince/jabba the hut that's just pocket change
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -1/+2not everything is top speed. the F40 is a dream to drive, the McLaren F1 is skittish at the rear end. what would you rather drive? something skittish, or something planted?
- aserer511, on 05/14/2009, -1/+2maybe it won't be hideous, either!
- tonychenyj, on 05/14/2009, -1/+2wow, so cool man, but I prefer the yellow sharp color. it rocks.
- emberjohn, on 09/29/2009, -0/+1whewww......somebody say the speed limit!!
- CoD4, on 05/14/2009, -1/+2saxxxaaay!
- bundwallah, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I'm fond of the 288 GTO, its' predecessor, at least engine wise. The F40 was meant to be a stripped down racing machine. Outside of nice seats it has no luxurious touches. In fact the doors have no handles on the inside. You have to pull on a wire to open the doors. It was built as an "answer" to the Porsche 959 which was at that time the pinnacle of auto engineering. The F40 is a raw beautiful beast. :)
This new car is very interesting. I noticed they've dispensed with Ferrari tradition; the taillights are single not double bulbs. - SPRFRKR, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1There are actually car clubs that let you have a different supercar each month:
http://www.vulcanmotorclub.com - nurbsenvi, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1nah... teenage boys maybe?
- AlKo, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1In terms of a proper steering wheel, the McLaren wins hands down...
though I have to say that sitting in there with that truck driver steering wheel made me feel like a little kid... made me wanna make engine noises with my mouth... VROOMVROOM
Unfortunately, it didn't feel like sometime comfortable to control. - Grolsch, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1Thanks guy, good suggestions, I dont think I am buying or renting Ferraris anytime soon
- padraic2112, on 05/15/2009, -0/+1The joke, you did not get it.
- verynegative, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1It is.
- breakbread, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1It's not a matter of expertise. Ferrari's road cars are directly influenced by their F1 division and have always been derived from race cars. They're not in the market for a daily driver, they make race cars that you can drive on the road.
- padraic2112, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1No! What will happen to Enzo Dude?
- FACT, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1This car would probably be a pretty good investment
- breakbread, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1The F430 looks almost identical.
And the thing with the Enzo is that every piece of it is completely functional. -
