- jbirk, on 12/02/2008, -1/+79by the way, the real trick: take this quiz with a blackberry while driving your car. THATs when we know what your real score is.
- sparsely, on 12/03/2008, -0/+62my driving level is Very Safe
Good thing I drink all that alcohol to calm my nerves. - silenceissexy, on 12/02/2008, -2/+62Answer everything at high risk and you still score a 5%
I speed 25mph over while texting and talking and changing lanes (without signaling) and changing my iPod and cramming all my speeding tickets in the glove box right after I hit that pedestrian, the minivan, the parked cars . . . while tailgating a school bus and staring at an accident on the side of the road. Is this dangerous? - inactive, on 12/02/2008, -2/+4351% but the pedestrian I hit with my car actually hit me, so in all fairness I deserve a bit better than a C.
- duggdowncatisad, on 12/03/2008, -1/+35Number 10 is wrong. According to CHP, braking distance at 40mph is 76 feet, NOT counting reaction time. 40mph is 58 feet per second. If you're 75 feet from the intersection when the light turns yellow, you're not going to stop the car in time no matter how hard you slam on the brakes; the only thing you'll accomplish is possibly getting rear ended and/or ending up stopped in the middle of the intersection. The correct answer to 10 is "None of the above" (maintain 40mph and go through the intersection).

- darlingt, on 12/03/2008, -0/+26Not at all. In fact, it sounds completely normal.
- Yashar, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2315 should be:
"Have you ever hit a pedestrian with your car (that you know of)?" - mhummel, on 12/03/2008, -1/+21No questions about apexes or drifting (while driving on ordinary roads) e.g
X. "How often do you try and hit an apex when cornering?"
X+1. "Do you try and get the back end out when it's raining?" - thespiff, on 12/03/2008, -0/+16I rubbernecked this morning. But there was a flaming car on the side of the road. I mean, come on, how often do you get to see that?
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+16The "changing lights" question is also deeply flawed, you got marked down for saying you speed up, but since you are 75ft from the lights in a 40mph zone your stopping distance is 120ft. If you brake you're going to take longer to clear the junction and increase the liklihood of being in it when the other lights go green. The correct response is to maintain your speed, but that's not an option.
- rheaume, on 12/03/2008, -0/+16Flee *****, flee
- farfromsubtl, on 12/03/2008, -3/+18This quiz is remarkably flawed. Apparently, if you feel as though everyone around you drives too slowly (even if you always obey the speed limit) then you are as much a risk as someone who admits to having driven drunk. WTF?!
- davidrools, on 12/03/2008, -0/+15I wish more people made an effort not to rubberneck. Seriously, there's nothing interesting going on over there. 99% of the time it's as interesting as the back end of the car in front of you, so look at that instead.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1451% - The pedestrian I hit deserved it.
- TheLastEskimo, on 12/03/2008, -0/+13LOL, I guess the curve was set pretty low.
- ichka, on 12/02/2008, -1/+12If I am a 56% my wife has goto be a 10% ...
- WarnerK, on 12/03/2008, -1/+12Wow, stupid quiz. So many flawed questions. I spend 1-2 hours per week driving, so I am more dangerous than someone who spends 20+ hours driving per week? Also, unless you've been driving for a significantly short period of time, number of years you've been driving doesn't matter all that much. Speeding also isn't inherently dangerous. It's safer to go 8mph over the speed limit if everyone else is doing so (like how it is around where I live) rather than go the speed limit and have everyone tailgating you and going around you.
- letherial, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10yes very....you forgot the booze the most important part!! :)
- fangs4evrything, on 12/03/2008, -1/+11What I really love is when everybody slows down when there's a cop that has pulled someone over already....DUDE, HE'S ***** BUSY! GET A MOVE ON!
- Tobey, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10That means you're vulnerable to banana peels. Those can be a bitch...
- Klisk, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10I'm 24 and I've failed the driver's test so many times that I'm suspended from taking it.
So, not only do I not have a license, I've never even driven before!
I think this either makes me a REALLY safe driver, or a REALLY dangerous one, depending on how you look at it. - Abomonog, on 12/03/2008, -2/+1287% Thank god it didn't ask about smoking blunts on the road. :)
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -2/+11US and UK. Who else is important?
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -1/+9Don't even try taking the quiz whilst driving I failed hard by the looks of the flashing lights.
- CUGI08, on 12/03/2008, -0/+8It means you are an eldery asian woman.
- idavidtang, on 12/03/2008, -1/+839%
It's all the slow drivers fault. - csm888, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7People who have driven for just a few years are dangerouse because they often develop over confidence (not eveyone of course)
And people who drive a few hours a week are obviously less practised than someone who drives 20+ hours. Compare it to playing computers games.
Sunday (people who use public transport to get to work) drivers are a real pain, they often do not get directly involved in accidents but they see plenty! :) (well they would if they looked in their mirrors). - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -1/+8With those thin ass ***** tires? Dont count on it.
Cars with the best grip stop the fastest, and that is a combination of weight, tire size (and softness), the shocks, and a few other things. You dont know a whole lot about cars. - StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+7The UK higway code gives the official stopping distance at 40mph as 120ft. That is usually more than you actually need but if you're going to pull up in almost half that you're going to need carbon ceramic brakes.
Of course, a good driver would have seen that the lights had been green for some time and would have eased off to give themselves time to stop should the lights change, but at 40 there is almost no chance of stopping in 75ft. At 40mph you're travelling about 59ft/sec, do you really think you'll stop from 40 in just over one second? - crazyhorse13, on 12/03/2008, -1/+8Not to mention the "number of tickets" question. That has less to do with how good a driver you are than it does with how lucky you are / how many local cops you know.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7Flaming wrecks that I didnt cause?
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6exactly, i always take that opportunity to speed up
- macaddct1984, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6I drive through red lights and stop signs all the time, go against oncoming traffic, and drive the wrong way down one-way streets.
I drive an ambulance. - Rusty747, on 12/02/2008, -4/+10I got a B (79%) and I'm a young driver!
No more discriminating me as a dangerous driver! - Kzoo, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6I found that one a little hard since there are so many factors that go into it besides distance (weather, actual speed, who's behind me [there are some very large vehicles you just do not stop in front of if they're too close and the other lane isn't clear for them], whether I was anticipating the change [automatic crosswalk lights], the capabilities and size of the vehicle I'm driving -- all those hundred things you can't stop to think about when you're deciding whether or not you can stop). Does anybody really say "I'm 75 feet from the light. . . maybe I better try to stop"?
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -1/+7that would really dangerous.. over cautious = as dangerous as reckless driver..
- diemunkiesdie, on 12/03/2008, -0/+675 feet? I was sitting there trying to figure out how much that is. I can't judge this unless I am actually in a car and you say, "here is 75 feet. Will you make it?"
- fangs4evrything, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6I'd be more afraid of the people who DON'T notice it...
- zadadka, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6Of course, each and every one of us thinks we are better than we actually are (whether at driving, or anything else).
The simple measure is whether you :
* often (regularly) queue jump and cut-in,
* use trafficators / indicators rarely, except on the occasions when you cut-in (as if in some misguided impression that it gave you the authority to perform that maneouvre), and
* rarely, if ever, use the two-second rule.
If that describes you, it's safe to say you will have plenty of other bad driving habits, and you are therefore without question careless, foolish, inconsiderate, and yes, dangerous.
What makes you espacially dangerous is that you will doubtless arrogantly continuing to justify this behaviour until, and not before, it costs ...
...someone. - thegamingguy, on 12/02/2008, -0/+6Got 69% little risk... So I am more like a Mario Kart driver than GTA
- jasonh1234, on 12/03/2008, -2/+8It means you find members of the same sex attractive.
- cjh79, on 12/03/2008, -1/+7That's easy. Drive around for a while until you have some ghetto dudes crossing the street in front of you and taking their sweet time. When they are in front of you, give 'em a little "get the F out of my way" honk. Once there is room, speed by them. Make sure you rev the engine too. With any luck, as you speed by, one of them will break his hand hitting your car with his fist, and you'll have a nice hand-sized dent in your car to remember the whole thing by and show off to your friends.
At least, that's how I did it. - flygirl62, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6Fortunately, I was able to answer no to that question. I hit a pedestrian with my motorcycle, but NEVER with my car.
FYI, it was ruled to not be my fault... she was crossing against the light.
End result, I got a "little risk" rating -- 78%. - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6I got an 82% (Very safe). I used to be a much more aggressive driver than I am now.
I guess I grew out of it. - Kzoo, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5You have a point, but this doesn't take into account a change in driving habits. I drive about 8-ish hours a week now, where I used to drive more than twice that when I was going to school (though those technically both fit in the same category in this quiz). Someone who has been driving a while and, say, changes jobs and doesn't drive as far anymore is a more dangerous driver than someone who just started driving but drives much more per week? I think number of trips per week might be a better way to gauge this (perhaps combined with time, since 10 one-minute trips is a lot different than 10 ten-minute trips in more ways than just time taken).
Of course, making the quiz very accurate means it's a lot more complicated to make :P - ajbl, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5I put down all the obvious right answers and got a 100
- veriix, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5omg, check out what I found, a reply button!
- ZombieSociety, on 12/03/2008, -1/+6You play with knobs.
- Shivan57, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5I said 'yes' to driven drunk and I still scored an 87%... I'm printing this and keeping it in my glove box in case I get caught driving drunk.
"Looookkk ossifeerrr... I scored an.. an... *hick-up* a high BEEEEEE..... you can let me gooo." -
