Buried for the poster being a nationalistic bigot.- SVOboy, on 06/14/2008, -47/+23I think you should learn a few definitions, starting with this one.

Have a wonderful evening, Captain Oversensitive America- ConfusedCartman, on 06/15/2008, -3/+14*facepalm*
- mecharabbit, on 06/15/2008, -5/+14I think he meant Anti-Americanistic, and my 5''8" 190lb. American body will choke you out faster than you can say "borscht".
We aren't all bad, and I would like to be your friend.- greenlight2001, on 06/15/2008, -8/+8You're so macho. I bet you get all the girls.

2. an extreme form of this, especially marked by a feeling of superiority over other countries.
At least read the whole source if you're going to cite it.
- xiojqwnko, on 06/15/2008, -11/+47My penis wouldn't fit in that thing.
By the way, thats a death trap.- TechnoRabbit, on 06/15/2008, -0/+17Perhaps it wouldn't be if you'd wash it a bit more often.

- banmaster, on 06/15/2008, -6/+4Might be 'asstastic' but its pretty damn accurate!
- cobbs, on 06/15/2008, -21/+77Relax, it's just a comment. He didn't say that other Nationalities wouldn't have the same problem. He's just commenting on the USA which, by the way, by percentages ranks #1 in obesity.
- bipolarruledout, on 06/15/2008, -2/+33... and we americans LOVE to be #1...
- gryphon50, on 06/15/2008, -7/+8yeah well, the rest of the world is catching up pretty quick.
- sanman, on 06/15/2008, -4/+2Too expensive.

http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-o ...- ConfusedCartman, on 06/15/2008, -6/+13The fact that he pointed it out in such a antagonistic manner proves that he is an ***** and shouldn't be hailed for it, even if he is stating a fact.
- elevatedystopia, on 06/15/2008, -16/+12Wow, looks like somebody's 300+ pounds
- digdug2020, on 06/15/2008, -3/+8Not really, I share his opinion, people are just tired of ***** who recite old jokes that wore out a long time ago.
- breadfred, on 06/15/2008, -3/+1Do something about it then. Don't moan your fattiness and jokes being made about it, get om your bike and start eating veggies.
- strictnein, on 06/15/2008, -6/+2Wow, looks like someone doesn't know his ***** grammar.
- digdug2020, on 06/15/2008, -3/+8Not really, I share his opinion, people are just tired of ***** who recite old jokes that wore out a long time ago.
- Tryptomine, on 06/15/2008, -1/+7Doubt I'd be able to fit in it, at least not without problems. Not due to weight at all, but being 6'4" tall, it looks like I wouldn't have nearly enough room to ride in it. (I remember once trying to get into the driver's seat of a BMW convertable and literally being unable to sit down at all.)
- feliks2, on 06/15/2008, -5/+1You're sure? I'm 6'4" and I've never had any trouble with sitting in any car including BMWs. The only problem I ever encounter is leg room, but thats usually in American cars. I drove a Smart FourTwo once, and I had more legroom than in the Dodge Caliber I currently drive. And no headroom problems either.
- j3ff86, on 06/15/2008, -1/+1Ever driven a mini-cooper?
- feliks2, on 06/15/2008, -5/+1You're sure? I'm 6'4" and I've never had any trouble with sitting in any car including BMWs. - Elliuotatar, on 06/15/2008, -2/+10No, submitter is right. There's a few million americans, but even if you stuffed children in there I don't imagine you could fit in more than 12 or so at once.
- banmaster, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Unless you chopped them up first.
- reiggin, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Or burn them. I bet they'd fit in the ashtray then. Oh, wait... no more ashtrays...
- banmaster, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Unless you chopped them up first.
- Crossmenjeff, on 06/15/2008, -4/+15its just a joke chill out, and from all the countries i've been to, the perception is that americans are generally overweight and considering the american tourists i could find in europe were all fatties or loudmouths i think his comment is pretty accurate. you want people to stop thinking it, get your friends on treadmills.
I'm an American. i'm a skinny mofo, but i think its funny and am not offended by it. - DangerCollie, on 06/15/2008, -8/+9A little sensitive about weight are we? Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fattest of them all? Ooops, we are.
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/05/04/10519 ...
If there's good news it's that Australia is almost as fat as we are. We're overweight and elected George Bush twice. What does that say? - richmomz, on 06/15/2008, -1/+5How offensive! That said I would probably have problems fitting in that thing. Come to think of it most of the people I know over the age of 13 would too...
- hyperwired, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2I actually dugg this up because the comment made me laugh.
- dionysius89, on 06/15/2008, -1/+4"There's a fair NUMBER of Americans."
Not, "There's a fair amount of Americans."
Unless Americans are some sort of amorphous goo.- banmaster, on 06/15/2008, -2/+3Thats why their asses spread out when they sit down.
- schweinehundXX, on 06/15/2008, -1/+5hey america is just number 9 of the fattest countries in the world.

no need to worry, one large coke plz. - Lavarock, on 06/15/2008, -2/+3I was too late on the ***** YOU. well, there it is.
- heresy_fnord, on 06/15/2008, -4/+4I don't know why everyone is so pissed at him. We have a majority of the people in the country which are overweight. Americans are generally fat lazy slobs that can't fit in small cars like that.
- PopcornDave, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Hell, unless that thing comes with a sunroof or as a convertible, there's no way in hell that at 6'4 I'm fitting in it at all.
- SVOboy, on 06/14/2008, -47/+23I think you should learn a few definitions, starting with this one.

- richmomz, on 06/15/2008, -2/+2... at which point it becomes a flatcar.
- blackmagician, on 06/15/2008, -1/+88maybe its me, but 40 grand for that sounds expensive.
- ThantiK, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4You could probably buy a new 4 wheeler, put a roof on it for less than that, and it'd be the same thing.
- KnightHawk2277, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3Probably a lot safer too.
- pjmc377, on 06/15/2008, -0/+120-30,000 euro for a electric motorbike is pushing it, especially when you consider the Fisker Karma http://www.fiskerautomotive.com/ is a whole luxurious electric car for 52,000 euro
- Devilboy666, on 06/15/2008, -0/+5Yea if they sell this thing at a reasonable price I'll buy it tomorrow.
Since it's a 3-wheeled bike with a cover I think a fair price is about $8k.- se1zure, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1electric bike. So reasonable would be 12-15k.
I would be happy to pay even 13 or 14k. You will save that much in gas easily.
- se1zure, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1electric bike. So reasonable would be 12-15k.
- bubba9999, on 06/16/2008, -0/+2If you purchase a $20k car instead, you could buy 4000 gallons of gasoline at $5 a gallon with the difference in price. That's good for 120,000 miles at 30 mpg.
That assumes gasoline doesn't go over $5/gallon. And ignores environmental impacts. But you can get further than 93 miles from home.
- ThantiK, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4You could probably buy a new 4 wheeler, put a roof on it for less than that, and it'd be the same thing.
- octowussy, on 06/15/2008, -24/+56And I'll bet, as an American, that I am in much better shape than the person who submitted the article and added the unncessary description.
- tikited, on 06/15/2008, -12/+3It's the gay car of the future. You can easily flip the car to the side of the floor.

let's take this off the front page - Super6, on 06/15/2008, -10/+19It's like a the gay version of a motorcycle, awesome.
- TrevorBradley, on 06/15/2008, -7/+14Y'know, I knew Americans considered their car a penis extension, but I'd never contemplated the concept that anyone who purchased a small car was intrinsically gay.
I'm going to start watching those GMC commercials in a whole new light....
- TrevorBradley, on 06/15/2008, -7/+14Y'know, I knew Americans considered their car a penis extension, but I'd never contemplated the concept that anyone who purchased a small car was intrinsically gay.
- l31101, on 06/15/2008, -0/+8you can almost drive that on the bicycle lane.
- jman583, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3Who says you can't?
- atlquaker, on 06/15/2008, -0/+37This is a great way to combat beer goggles. If she can't fit into the car; you probably shouldn't take her home with you.
- bipolarruledout, on 06/15/2008, -1/+5More like you won't have the option! Humm... there is always the restroom stall.
- VinnieDaMac, on 06/15/2008, -2/+24If electric cars didn't cost an arm and a leg, I'm sure they would be more popular than they are right now. $31,000 to $46,000? No thanks.

- richmomz, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2I'd love to see some crash test footage for that thing.
- rdoger6424, on 06/15/2008, -1/+2It wouldn't be a t-bone. At that size, it would probably just be a dotted i.
- agentep, on 06/15/2008, -7/+1Eat guacamole and you will feel fine! Gababa!!!
- EasY_TargeT, on 06/15/2008, -5/+8124k miles? are you ***** me? id clear that in a year maybe two

- lopla, on 06/15/2008, -6/+12Don't worry, when Bush is finally done with America there will be no way for Americans to afford food and Americans will slim up again.
- elevatedystopia, on 06/15/2008, -2/+10or maybe all we will be able to afford is fast food and we'll get fatter than ever
- digdug2020, on 06/15/2008, -3/+3In case you hadn't noticed bush has had 8 years to attempt to destroy America and he hasn't succeeded. We are survivors and we'll come out stronger than ever. Now go crawl back into your pessimistic hole and wait for the world to end, or something.
- feliks2, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4Awww so cute. That's the spirit, keep it up and a god may bless you with wonderfull mounds of McDonalds yet.
- banmaster, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Um, yeah. Bush HAS succeeded! If you think otherwise you're truely misguided (just like Bush wants)

- Troy64, on 06/15/2008, -3/+2I hadn't noticed any real problems until the last two years, when the Democrats took over congress. The only real power the president has is to make proposals and to veto, the real power lies with congress.
- dtfinch, on 06/15/2008, -1/+8The perfect car to make people think I have nothing to compensate for.
- Duncan3, on 06/15/2008, -4/+28You had me at electric, and lost me at $31,000. You have to be CHEAPER then the fossil alternative. How many stupid car engineers will it take before some explains to them the less-than symbol.

Prices won't drop until then.- secrity, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1They have to also be PRACTICAL vehicles.
- digghasnoethics, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4Just add time.
When you consider the lifetime costs the power is already cheaper. As oil gets more and more expensive the batteries this requires becomes less and and less onerous, relatively.
Of course, nothing says you'll be able to afford it then, but you won't be able to afford gas either...

- ConfusedCartman, on 06/15/2008, -13/+12Dugg because I think electric cars have a future, even when they look like deformed penises.
Undugg and buried(due to being inaccurate) for stereotypical dickholes who can't resist a chance to profile an entire nation. We "fat americans" know that we have lots of food, and we know we got that way by being one of the most economically successful countries in the world. Poster: Next time you decide to insult us, I really, really hope our military overhears you.- TheMime, on 06/15/2008, -4/+14You have a valid point, but your "internet tough guy who is really just hiding behind his nation's bloated military" persona ruined it for me.
- ConfusedCartman, on 06/15/2008, -1/+6I dugg you because you have a point, I did sound like an *****. I don't like that you called our military "bloated", but I am not going to act like a whiny child and bury you for it. It just irritates me that people feel the need to say this kind of *****.
- banmaster, on 06/15/2008, -0/+5Why don't you like your military being tagged as bloated? IT IS bloated and run by a pack of utter bastards!
Just because you don't like somehting doesn't mean its not true. Grow up, or sideways like a lot of yanks are already doing.
Average US car seats are up to 8" wider than regular european ones, now they sure aren't that way because americans are a slim population are they!!

- TheMime, on 06/15/2008, -4/+14You have a valid point, but your "internet tough guy who is really just hiding behind his nation's bloated military" persona ruined it for me.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 06/15/2008, -2/+7You know what? If I wanted to ride in this little guy I would like it to be in cost comparison to a moped otherwise I would get a moped.
Why on earth would you pay 46k for something that only seats 1 person? The only thing it really has going for is over a moped is maybe speed? and being closed in from the elements.- Rikkochet, on 06/15/2008, -0/+6I think it seats 2. I could be wrong, because the article only ***** said it seats 2.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 06/15/2008, -0/+6I must have skipped over it. Sorry. Its still expensive for something so small when you can get a moped instead.
- positron, on 06/15/2008, -2/+1I hated this thing the first time it was posted a few days ago. This hasn't changed my mind.

- Frostek, on 06/15/2008, -2/+1Drive carefully then?
- Dev1ous, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3You can't guarantee the people around you will drive carefully.

- crapmatic, on 06/15/2008, -3/+29"The cost is expected to be around $31,000 to $46,000."
Oh, hell no.- richmomz, on 06/15/2008, -3/+240K for an electric deathtrap that I probably couldn't even fit in? Thanks but I'll take a golfcart instead if I'm that desperate.
- nastronomical, on 06/15/2008, -4/+16Simply logic: I know its hard for the bunch of you with Art degrees.
Ok when can a electric car compete with a Gas car?
- when it can last for a long period of time 10+ years/ 100,00 + miles before breaking down.
- when it cost just as much/less to manufactor
- when it gives equal or greater weight and passenger carrying capacity
- When it can survive the brutal winters, summers and rainy season here in America and all over the world.
- When its parts are cheaper or equal to replace.
Until these requirements are met........DREAM ON!!- feliks2, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3It seems there's hardly anyone here with art degrees, unfortunately, although very much understandably.
- sparsely, on 06/15/2008, -1/+4Modern electric vehicles have already met and surpassed all of those requirements.
Manufacturing costs will drop when they're being mass-produced. - antonio97b, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3- When it can be charged in the time it takes to fill a tank of gas (not 8 hours)
- jamesdew, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Well the theory for this one is that fuel stations would keep charged up cells or something and you would give them your old one in exchange for a charged one.
- secrity, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1When will that happen? I don't know of any sort of station like that in the US.
- jamesdew, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1It's just an idea of how it could work at the moment I don't think any stations are doing anything like this at the moment.
- jamesdew, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Well the theory for this one is that fuel stations would keep charged up cells or something and you would give them your old one in exchange for a charged one.
- se1zure, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1- when it can last for a long period of time 10+ years/ 100,00 + miles before breaking down.
already done. Both the tesla and miles xs500 laster over 100,000 miles.
- when it cost just as much/less to manufactor
Miles xs500 is almost at that point. Relative to what you would spend on gas, however, the xs500 is already paid for.
- when it gives equal or greater weight and passenger carrying capacity
again, the xs500 is basically the same dimensions as a chevy malibu. Looks normal too!
- When it can survive the brutal winters, summers and rainy season here in America and all over the world.
Good point. I am not sure about the batteries in brutal cold. I imagine some sort of heating system would have to be developed. As far as heat, batteries work fine in blistering heat.
- When its parts are cheaper or equal to replace.
car parts are car parts. electric vehicles have fewer moving parts and last longer requiring less maintainance. brand specific parts may be a tad more pricy, but they are required less often.
- aforce369, on 06/15/2008, -8/+5Only one seat...
That's kinda saying something about whoever gets one... that's not exactly geared towards people who take dates home... or drive any friends around...- ConfusedCartman, on 06/15/2008, -0/+8Perfect for the average Digger!
- leerayIG88, on 06/15/2008, -1/+3I'd buy one. Until I get hit by a semi.......then it's game over man......game over.
- giloron, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Or it's an extra commuter vehicle to get you back and forth to work. Why burn gas to lug a larger car around when you are driving by yourself? Only problem is, it looks like they priced it out of that market.
- calibration, on 06/15/2008, -0/+52 seats, RTFA.
- mysticalone, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3Looks just like Mr. Garrison's "The Entity", oh look you even put the steering in your mouth...
- Disease, on 06/15/2008, -0/+10I'm gonna get a few of my buddies and go car tipping when it gets dark.
- colonelpanic, on 06/15/2008, -6/+1I like my mid-size SUV. The ability to be on a long trip without feeling completely cramped and squished in a tiny car is nice. Not to mention whoever designed this never drove on route 80. The truckers on that road are nuts. I feel intimidated by them on that road in most small to mid size sedans as is. Driving this thing is pure suicide in some places.
- sparsely, on 06/15/2008, -0/+7You feel intimidated too easily. Be cautious and drive defensively. Your big ass car is just false security.
- colonelpanic, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1midsize != big ass.
when semi's pass me even in my vehicle, the whole car shakes. I have to correct steering in strong winds. Image what would happen in one of these little things.- sparsely, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1I drive a Metro, so I already know. You learn to compensate.

- armorking, on 06/15/2008, -3/+9Two words to sum up what everyone has been posting:
Overpriced and useless.- richmomz, on 06/15/2008, -1/+4Agreed. I'm all for a plugin hybrid or full electric car, but nobody's going to pay 40K for a glorified golf cart like that thing.
- bluebin, on 07/01/2008, -0/+0Correct...it is useless and it is only 4 feet wide, many people will no fit in on that car... It is useless.
- pjhorrex, on 06/15/2008, -3/+9As someone who just survived a below 30mph T bone collision last week (and the internal bleeding and major abdominal surgery that went along with it) I will happily join all the above posters saying, "***** that!".
Seems silly to be taking such a giant leap backwards in safety to save at the pump. Electric cars are fine, just don't make them suicidal please. - civilizedevil, on 06/15/2008, -5/+4"I bet there's a fair amount of americans who couldn't even fit in it."
I bet there's more than a fair amount of Americans who wouldn't WANT to fit in that stupid thing.
I'm all for the next ecofriendly car that will save the environment, cut back on how much I have to spend on gas, and all that "green" stuff... but who do they think is going to spend $31,000-$46,000 on that little turd? I really don't understand what most of these ecofriendly electric car designers have against making something that actually looks like a car. This thing is unsafe, overpriced, stupid looking, and impractical for the majority of the population.- BlatheringIdiot, on 06/15/2008, -1/+1dugg for calling car "little turd"
- EmmaRussell, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4Interesting car, or thing that kind of looks like a car. I know when I pay that much for a car where death is 99% certain if in an accident it better drive itself, otherwise, what is the point?
- pjpark, on 06/15/2008, -5/+3I ride a motorcycle, but I'm not nuts enough to get in one of those death-traps.
- celotil, on 06/15/2008, -1/+3Man has a point, for all those digging him down.
Although it's dangerous to ride a motorcycle - depending on the road conditions, fellow drivers paying attention, weather - in most motorcycle accidents you'll leave the vehicle and land on the road. If the accident isn't too high speed, a good head-down-legs-up tuck in will minimise the impact of the accident to maybe cuts, abrasions, bruises, and possibly a broken bone or two - I've had a few 50km/hour accidents on a bicycle and pretty much walked away, bleeding from a nasty bit of road burn, my bicycle bent and ***** on the road.
In a car you have a reasonable amount of protection from the outside world, however that same protection can cause severe harm in an accident. Your seat belt, while keeping you in your seat, may also jerk across your neck if not worn properly. The window on your left, or right in Britain and Australia, keeps the wind and rain off you when you're cruising happily along, but it could bash you in the head if your car was impacted sideways. That big soft airbag stops you from smacking your face into the hard dashboard or steering wheel if you hit something from behind, but how soft is it really, and do you have your seat positioned correctly for optimum driver control and minimal airbag impact with your face? Ask a friend to smack you in the face with a soft pillow from different distances and see that the soft pillow isn't really so soft.
In the wrong sort of accident your vehicle can be an instrument of your demise, not protection, and it doesn't matter how big or small your vehicle is, what matters is how your vehicle intercedes in the contrary forces violently enacted upon your person, AND stays in enough of one piece that you can get out or away from it if you need to.

- leonardoty, on 06/15/2008, -2/+1"Using Lithium technology, the battery takes a plug-in electric charge of 15kw to take you about 93 miles, but you only need 7kw to go as far as 62 miles miles."
Racial bigot and bad editing. Classic Fox News article anyone?- se1zure, on 06/15/2008, -1/+1buried for relating two completely different thing in an attempt to get diggs from the anti fox news bandwagon.

- shiftless, on 06/15/2008, -2/+2All cars should be electric. This is a start. At least...
- waveringhobbit, on 06/15/2008, -1/+2I don't really think this car is for me.
- Mahoney07, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Too expensive and skinny. That thing will probably flip easily and no one wants to spend over 40k on a car so small which its only advantage is fuel economy. You will not make up the extra money you spent which could have gone to a small economy car.
- OftEccentricity, on 06/15/2008, -3/+4At least we know basic oral hygiene.
- jrm71588, on 06/15/2008, -3/+3Mmmm...I love being American and having all this food and wealth surround me at all times. It's dandy.
- Frostek, on 06/15/2008, -1/+2Shame it seems to make you (not you particularly) over-sensitive about not being able to fit inside a vehicle that's three feet wide. That's loads of room! And you can't all be that wealthy, or you wouldn't be all going on about how much this vehicle costs.

Approximately 300 miles on one gallon of gas, and can go full-electric, moving approximately 120 miles under normal conditions on a two to four hour charge, has crash test ratings exceeding the requirements of small cars, despite the fact that technically it doesn't have to (it is registered as a motorcycle.) To top it off, it's cheaper than the electric car featured in this article.
Also, it looks slightly less stupid in my opinion, and looks like it's a bit more spacious, though it still only comfortably fits two adults. - Proctor, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2***** would flip over if you did a turn at more than 5mph. We had that happen with a electric car in school. Wheel base was too short and the tires came off the ground and crashed into a fence.
- celotil, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1In case you didn't notice, it turns like a motorcycle, i.e. those wheels are not rigid, they move up and down to facilitate a full body tilt around corners.
- Proctor, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1That's what she said.
