THEY NEED SOME wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men. - cawfee, on 06/05/2009, -4/+57And they'll take those 5 days to still rip people off as horrifically as they can.
- SPNKrPunk, on 06/05/2009, -1/+41Sorry dude, the Challengers are really one of the few models that Chrysler could actually move. Now, if your interested in a severely discounted Town and Country minivan with free testicle removal, you might be in luck.
- badqat, on 06/05/2009, -0/+40Can anyone say "fire sale!"
- Kinsbane, on 06/05/2009, -1/+29Need to find out how I can use this to score a free Challenger SRT-8.

The dealerships got a 'bait and switch' pulled on them! - wrenchone, on 06/05/2009, -1/+27I'll take a Viper in green please.
- Cyclone83, on 06/05/2009, -0/+26WE'RE HAVING A FIRE....sale
THE BURNING! - inactive, on 06/05/2009, -2/+23"There is just one problem with this theory. Nobody has bothered to look up data for the control group: the list of dealerships which aren't being closed. It turns out that all car dealers are, in fact, overwhelmingly more likely to donate to Republicans than to Democrats -- not just those who are having their doors closed."

- megaton, on 06/05/2009, -0/+20You don't replace Jeeps, silly. You rebuild them.
- kplo, on 06/05/2009, -1/+17Everything! Must! Go!
- Homerr, on 06/05/2009, -2/+15It really is too bad Chrysler don't have any cars that I want to buy. I'd be in the market for a VW diesel, Honda Fit, Prius, Civic Hybrid but they don't really have anything like them. Too bad they don't sell the Fiat 500 here yet, I'd definitely be interested.
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=fiat+5 ...
p.s. Why is it taking 1.5 years to import the 500? Can't Chrysler request fast track approval from the gov't? They should be importing them next month to help turn this company around. - Brassbud, on 06/05/2009, -1/+13You're going to love my nuts and bolts.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 06/05/2009, -0/+12Hello, this is NOT ABOUT GM.
- Anand999, on 06/05/2009, -1/+12When do Pontiac dealers have to go through this? If I can pick up a G8 GXP for under $30K, economy and wife be damned I'm doing it.
- Khast, on 06/05/2009, -0/+10While it is unfortunate that the dealerships are closing. I think it is rather unfair to expect them to sell a whole lot full of cars in less than a month. I think there should be exceptions to the rules for selling new cars made for dealerships which are being closed down. Just make it so the dealerships can't order new merchandise.
- UnFriendlyFire, on 06/05/2009, -0/+10*This time for real
- TheMachine1, on 06/05/2009, -2/+10They need to bail Shamwow guy out of jail and get him selling cars.
http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1910326 - zapperdude60, on 06/05/2009, -0/+8The 500 can't come here yet because it needs to meet U.S. emissions and crash test standards. The government can't just excuse one car from the regulations.
- Taiyoryu, on 06/05/2009, -1/+9Wasn't this debunked last week?
- hannahmar, on 06/11/2009, -0/+8Quick question though. Am I panicked about the fire or am I being brave for everyone?
- WasabiBomb, on 06/05/2009, -5/+13Is your masculinity dependent upon what kind of vehicle you drive? You've got bigger problems than you seem to think Homerr has.

- Psara, on 06/05/2009, -2/+9Or some Crudely Painted Not So Funny Plywood Cut-Out Folk Art! Let's head on down to Al Harrington's Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man Emporium and Warehouse! It's off Rt. 2 in Weekapaug!
Also I wouldn't pay 60% for a Chrysler. That could be why they're having trouble. - redxii, on 06/05/2009, -1/+7xtremesparx isn't being sarcastic. In addition to already being given $billions upon $billions, Obama will reach into your pockets and bank accounts for more money to cover warranties. It really is Obama's doing so don't think I am hating on Obama 'just because'.
In addition, the "sales" will be seen as a false sign of recovery and cause oil prices to soar higher.. not counting how much gas all those trucks and SUVs will guzzle. - myempyrean, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6Do you want to try that again?
- phishneslo, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6they can sell them as "used" (new) cars... they still have their dealer licenses...
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -1/+7Dump them into the ocean, make reefs out of them. 5 days to sell entire inventory? Not even Oprah can put a dent in that.
- cornelje, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6hH just wanted to use his witty "government motors" line, I'm surprised he didn't throw in a Noboma since he was on a roll.

- sjbdallas, on 06/05/2009, -0/+5Haven't seen many jeeps sitting on those lots (i was looking to replace mine) but tons of cars and trucks.
- phishneslo, on 06/05/2009, -2/+7some lady "received 40% off of the price of a well-appointed Dodge Nitro. The midsized SUV carried a $29,170 price tag, but she paid only $17,510." in what world does someone pay $30k for a Dodge, let alone a Neon replacement POS crossover. i drive a vw GTI, which is about as much of an SUV as a Nitro, and a much better car by any measure. i paid about $20k for a new one (with a sunroof)... all dealers want to sell cars... they would have to pay me about $10k to buy a Nitro at $17.5k.
- ghatid, on 06/05/2009, -1/+6And rebuild...and rebuild...
- SinisterBunni, on 06/05/2009, -1/+6if you bought one of those heap chrysler or gm cars you would be having a lot of rough mornings.
- xtremesparx, on 06/05/2009, -0/+5Don't worry, I've got you covered!
(Along with the rest of the American tax payers) - Gndoab, on 06/05/2009, -0/+5who is this "we"? I work hard, and earn what I get
- robosexy, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4I used to work at a car dealership. They will screw you all the way until they have one desk on the street, one salesman, and one car. You will still pay close to sticker.
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4To be honest, I've always liked the Dodge Dakota midsize pick up truck. But again, I'd have to know that if I bought the car, I'd get the same coverage I'd normally expect when buying a new car. I can't spend $20K and be told "sold as is".
- xero69, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4The dealerships and their service departments have been screwing us for years. I have no sympathy for them at the moment. The leftover cars will be sold at auction so don't expect to get a car for half price.
- Wander2000, on 06/05/2009, -1/+5My heart bleeds for them. Whats goes around, comes around.
- Thistlejack, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4While I completely agree with your point (use a control), the metholody those guys used is a little peculiar. The National Association of Auto Dealers is #21 in terms of top campaign contributors, and this link reports a 2:1 ratio in Rep:Dem giving (http://www.opensecrets.org/overview/topcontribs.ph ... compared to the fivethirtyeight research which came up with 8:1. That's a pretty big difference.
