- MrFoof82, on 03/23/2008, -0/+40Looking through their eBay feedback, the dealership pulled some stunt with a 2003 Corvette Z06 only about 6 weeks ago.
http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.d ...
So this isn't a mistake. It's the sign of a trend. Hopefully this can help get their dealership account pulled. - classhelper, on 03/23/2008, -0/+28Here are the dealership phone numbers, for anybody who'd like to see what they have to say for themselves: Sales: 1 (866) 520-7950 Service: 1 (402) 479-7570 Parts: 1 (866) 549-2681 Be sure to post their statements here, of course.
- MrFoof82, on 03/23/2008, -0/+15The base MSRP of a new M3 Sedan is $53,800.
This vehicle, as advertised, has an MSRP of at least $67,620 with delivery charges according to the BMWUSA.com configurator. It may be a bit more (if I missed an option or two like the $1100 extended leather). The vehicle is essentially "fully loaded". - classhelper, on 03/23/2008, -0/+13They paid a lot of money for their nice new website, but couldn't be bothered to renew a domain? Clicking on "Contact Us" takes you http://www.bmwoflincoln.com which has become a keyword squatter's site. Nice.
- BloodWenis, on 03/23/2008, -0/+10no. no we can't.
- Dysarthria, on 03/24/2008, -0/+9300 digs in less than one day and this still isn't "popular"? WTF is going on here!
- Nudar, on 03/23/2008, -0/+9Could someone inform the rest of us how much the car is actually worth? I'm guessing I'm not the only one following the MSRP of all new BMWs.
- InfamousAtheist, on 03/23/2008, -0/+9Hey noob... posting links to your own blog in digg comments = spam. Stop.
- automate, on 03/24/2008, -0/+9why hasnt this hit the frontpage yet?
- gator2000, on 03/24/2008, -0/+8Bottom line is the last m3 story to be big news, was a dealership asking for 100k (30 grand over MSRP).
This is a shot at a big 'ol FU to dealerships.
They made a mistake, yes, they risked no reserve in hopes of yeilding big profit...in business mistakes cost money.
I'm only glad to see a dealership pay for their mistake that, had it gone the other way, would of cost a consumer a premium for a car available without one. - inactive, on 03/24/2008, -1/+9Let's get this to the front page.
- BloodWenis, on 03/23/2008, -0/+8sales@huskerautogroup.com
- Bolmedias14, on 03/23/2008, -2/+10I'm actually motivated to help dooma out. I'm posting links to this page everywhere I can, and I hope I'm not alone.
- chakalakasp, on 03/24/2008, -0/+8I'd hate to be the guy manning the phones at the dealership tomorrow morning.
- Joopapa, on 03/23/2008, -0/+7read the full forum thread. Dooma has been keeping an regular update of all the communications. He is all over it. Best of luck to him.
- automate, on 03/24/2008, -0/+7322 diggs and still not hit the frontpage. Is BMW a sponsor of digg?
Can anyone explain why this has not hit the frontpage? - Dysarthria, on 03/24/2008, -0/+7I hope Dooma wins this fight and not only gets the car, but at a lower price than he offered as a punishment to this dealership.
In a small town like Lincoln Neb. where there probably isn't another dealership for miles around, it is important for BMW to step in and "correct" the business practices of its dealers who operate without competition. If there was another guy in town selling BMW's, he'd be screaming this story at the top of his lungs.
Digg this up, it helps all of us. - freakguy54321, on 03/23/2008, -0/+6what ***** heads
- BigBucksT, on 03/23/2008, -0/+6What a shady dealership. BMW should step in before their name gets anymore tarnished.
- popsumer, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6Why is this story buried?
- colosis, on 03/23/2008, -0/+6this is the ebay auction page
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... - gator2000, on 03/23/2008, -0/+6Has anyone looked at the pictures in the auction...some of these look like scanned newspaper, who sells a $65k car that way...
- harmonik, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6LOL, PWND
http://www.hucksterbmw.com - BloodWenis, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6Reading through the threads, the biggest things that stick out are:
- This dealer is a repeated offender on not only Ebay but also on their Better Business Bureau complaints.
- The dealer set the auction low, no reserve, and than advertised it as the cheapest M3 on ebay, (no doubt to hopefully incite a bidding war)
- Lastly just how the customer was treated by this 'billion' dollar business - Dysarthria, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6I'd bet you a Coke the dealership could honor the $60K price and still make money. The mark-up on these cars is mind-blowing. Now, all they're making is bad publicity for themselves.
- chicaneuk, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6Given that the dad was rich (stupid) enough to buy each of his daughters 530i's, I don't think he was going to miss $50 for a fricking handbook.
- r3aper, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5this never hit the front page?
- LordHalo, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5ok Diggers, over at the said forum, a member by the name Mooseman appears to be from the dealership and has posted some "guilt trip" for Dooma saying that he should be ashamed for winning an item that he knew is worth more than 60K. His idiot analogy of returning the excess money for a change for $100 when he paid $50 is epic. Let's all send him a nice message, shall we
- gator2000, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5sad really...it's not even on the front page of the Autos section, Digg algo...Fail.
- r3aper, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5We need more diggs for this
- r3aper, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5I really hate dealers like this. We need to digg this enough to get it on diggnation. Spread the word so that no one will buy from these pricks ever again.
- KMartSheriff, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Let's hope this makes it to the front page. Seriously, everyone should be aware of these *****.
- borez, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Emailed
- evilish, on 03/24/2008, -1/+5I'd be taking the dealership to court. We had a similar case here in Australia not too long ago, relating to a World War 2 vintage plane.
http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/news/technology/eb ...
http://www.smh.com.au/news/web/ebay-sale-is-a-sale ...
I'd hit them up for the car and for the trouble of taking them to court.
Anyways,
- Evil - Ajajadude, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Then would it really be vigilante justice?
- gator2000, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4Also, it was noted somwhere in the forum that invoice price with these options is around $63,000.
- mrcalicocat, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4This is starting to hit the mainstream. It looks like MSNBC might pick this up, and it's already on Consumerist and Awful Marketing.

http://awfulmarketing.com/index.php/2008/03/24/neb ... - Bolmedias14, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4I'm calling them tommorow (only properly open on business days, dammit).
- squirmalicious, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4ugh, no doubt

"I just discovered something very interesting.. possible shill bidding!
Check out the bid histories for these auctions :
BMW : M3
http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/...m=230223241 ...
BMW : M3
http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/...m=230211917 ...
BMW : 5-Series
http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/...m=230216844 ...
Pontiac : GTO
http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/...m=230205212 ...
Specifically look at the "r***c" bidder. He bid on the GTO and the M3 auctions.
Then we have that "5***i" guy who bid on all 3 BMW auctions...
Look suspicious to me." - danmosqueda, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4My former girlfriend had a 530i from this particular dealership. They charged her $50 for a replacement manual. Never mind that her Dad bought her and her sister each a BMW from this place on the same day. Do you think she might have been a repeat customer? Well, when I went with her to the dealer, she wasn't too pleased. I'm not surprised by this at all.
- gator2000, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Latest Update:
This morning, BMW of Lincoln has agreed to sell me the car at a price of 60K, with certain conditions. I'll be going over the conditions with the dealership tommorow, and I hope to have everything finalized by tommorow afternoon.
But one thing that I would like to make everyone aware of is, BMW of Lincoln is proactively working to correct the situation that they screwed up. And yes, they screwed up big time, no doubt about that. They are trying to do right, so please don't harass the dealership right now. No phone calls, threats, emails or fake sales calls.
---We win!!!!!!!!! - ganjadude4391, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4anyway i was thinking we should give them some of their own medicine. We should all call them up later today, and keep their salesmen tangled up with the idea that we are interested in buying a car from them. i am talking keep them on the phone as long as possible adding in all options, you know working that price up so they see $$$ in their eyes.
Than proceed to tell them that you made a mistake and really just want to buy a used chevy or something. - mbd934, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Wow! Many are way too focused on (real or perceived) legal aspects, trivia, and tangents of this fascinating story. Bottom line: whether a mistake (very doubtful) or not, the dealer should make this right by honoring the deal...
- djSyndrome, on 03/24/2008, -0/+3Duh, the sedan likely has lower insurance rates than the coupe.
That said, if one can afford an M3, I'd guess that trivial things like insurance, nine-dollar-a-quart oil and fuel prices are little more than pocket change. - pissedoffsol, on 03/24/2008, -0/+3ebay only makes about $40-80 a car sale.... it's not huge money by any means.
Figure a guy selling 1000 low-dollar items fee's about $2 or so a transaction = $2000 a month a fees.
does the dealer sell 20 cars a month through ebay? perhaps they used to.... but not after this!!! HAHAHAHA
BMW of lincoln just closed themselves over a matter of 6 grand.
stupid bastards. - DurtyJ, on 03/24/2008, -0/+3Best point anyone makes in that thread is that if he had overpaid for the car, and the auction ended at $70,000 - the dealership would not say "lulz you made a mistake, dont worry"
- gator2000, on 03/24/2008, -0/+3Lotta diggnation audience buying beemers these days...
- Volaitle86, on 03/24/2008, -2/+5This fukers Goin DOWN!!!
