- sinurgy, on 02/28/2009, -1/+37No, you're just that guy who always associated sports cars with penises. I'm glad to hear you've apparently gotten over your insecurities but believe it or not most people just like sports cars for the sake of liking sports cars.
- StigNordas, on 02/27/2009, -3/+32You can win the race, I'll take the Z and $30k please.
- Leesfer, on 02/28/2009, -1/+14The Nissan name doesn't command respect?
Is that why in many countries, rally racing has outlawed the Skyline becuase it would win race after race after race? - svensko, on 02/28/2009, -1/+12Ever heard of the Skyline GT-R? (R32, R33, R34, and R35?) There's a reason why people jump through hoops to import/buy the pre-R-35 GT-Rs. ;)
- MrInfallible, on 02/28/2009, -0/+10Please The BMW 3 Series used to be the ultimate ***** car now it's the Audi A4! You are being a bit short sighted, the purist love Porches because they are incredible cars to drive and x10 many ***** drive beemers.
- bxbomber, on 02/28/2009, -2/+11I'm willing to kill for the new GTR.
damm serious about it - cowsgonemadd3, on 02/28/2009, -0/+9Dumb choice if money is an object. Base model civic for about the same with lots of room and a trunk and it has the same fuel economy as the smart. The smart is a "dumb" purchase.
- chicagospur, on 02/28/2009, -4/+13Bugatti Veyron... if money is no object.
- Juaquin, on 02/28/2009, -0/+7Ever heard of the GTR? Nissan has a LONG history of building sports cars and winning races, while still building affordable cars. They may not have the stuffy European background, but they have the engineering and performance.
- ileftfark, on 02/28/2009, -0/+7I'll ride the New Horizons space probe... if oxygen is no object.
- KittySpark1es, on 02/28/2009, -0/+7I've seen the new Z in person. It really looks a lot wider than the previous one, and the interior is a nice step up too. I also like how they've placed the rear strut brace further up so you have more cargo room.
- mheyne2, on 02/28/2009, -3/+10Porsche Cayman S...if money is no object.
- petrograd, on 02/28/2009, -0/+6they forgot to mention the fact that the cost of repairs for the Porsche, even a simple break job are astronomical.
- KittySpark1es, on 02/28/2009, -1/+6ok, do you have $40k more to spend?
- WestonP, on 02/28/2009, -4/+9I once wanted to buy a 350Z... until I saw the experiences of several friends who bought them. It was one damn problem after another. After buying a Porsche, I realized why "there is no substitute"... it's not even about a flash hood crest or performance, it's about all the little things and attention to detail. German over-engineering is a good thing sometimes.
- Darkyuubi, on 02/28/2009, -4/+9So Darkyuubi...what are you driving these days? Well I got a Nissa..
See my point? Porsche. Even if its "overpriced garbage". The posh badge is sort of a big deal.... - inactive, on 02/28/2009, -4/+9Yeah, but to own a 'Vette you are required to grow a mustache and wear gold chains. No thanks.
- Namakemono, on 02/28/2009, -0/+5So you need a car to earn respect?
- Darkyuubi, on 02/28/2009, -0/+4lmao. There is a funny segment in TopGear when Jeremy took out a plate of...puke, put a BMW badge on it and said there, now you can sell it for 20 pounds.
Its true. People will buy anything with a posh badge. - Grummond, on 02/28/2009, -0/+4Even better, if your brakes break, you're really broke.
- johanrocks, on 02/28/2009, -0/+4That's a quote from Top Gear, but we get the point you're trying to make. Here's the thing: from a car enthusiast's standpoint, badge be damned, Nissan made a damn impressive car that will go around the track faster than a Porsche twice its price. From a 'my ***** > your *****' standpoint, yes most people would buy the Porsche because of the badge (after all, you're not going to be out racing every day, you'll be commuting to work at normal speeds), but I don't really think that's the point of this article.
- uRmyHartBstopR, on 02/28/2009, -0/+4People like you are willing to buy anything to boost their ego and get respect. If porsche made a hat out of condom and commanded a premium price I'll betcha douchebags around the world would buy it. Luxury cars that cost more for the sake of the brand are for people that needs that extra inch to their little penis.
- Leesfer, on 02/28/2009, -2/+5We should all go out and only buy brand name badges because as everyone knows, quality is in the name printed on it!
- borninda818, on 02/28/2009, -2/+5You can buy 2 Zs for that price...
- BassCadet, on 02/28/2009, -6/+9After suffering 2 years in a 350Z and dealing with that loud, thrashy engine, terrible suspension, terrible visibility, and despicable build quality (for a Japanese car) I've decided that cars like 335 coupes or Subaru offerings such as Legacy GTs or STis are just more my thang. Yeah you're giving up some of that sporting edge, but you gain so much more in practicality.
I just need to wait for M3 prices to come down and I'll get the best of both worlds... - ALBIN0RHIN0, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3I haven't had any problem with my g35 (same car as the 350z). Its true about the terrible visibility, but I've got no issue with the engine or the suspension on my car (its got very predictable handling with the stock setup). Hell the VQ engine in the 350z has been is the only engine thats been in Ward's list of top 10 engines since the list was introduced.
I think the 350z&g35 offer a great deal of performance / luxury for an unbeatable price. I test drove Subaru legacy gt, Maza RX-8, & the bmw 330i. Only the bmw 330i was a contender but I didn't think it was worth the extra cash.
With that said i hate the 370z, i think it looks bad in pictures an even worse in person (i can't get over the check mark lights and weird lines of the body). - Virgule, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3...and nobody farted on the seats
- smemily, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3And brake jobs are even worse, I hear! If your brakes break, you're really *****.
- ALBIN0RHIN0, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3@ smemily
The 350z and g35(sport coupe) are very very close, there are a few differences that i can think of off the top of my head:
- cosmetics (different exterior look, completely different interior)
- g35 has longer wheel base, to accommodate 2 rear seats
- Different air intake system for the engine (quieter on the g35)
- 350z has a strut bar, making it a little stiffer
- g35 is a bit heavier due to longer wheel base and more equipment
Other than that they are basically mechanical the same, 95% of the parts are interchangeable - sinurgy, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Personally I think the new G37 design fits the sedan much better than the coupe this time around. Basically the opposite of the G35 in which the design didn't fit the sedan as elegantly as the coupe. Then again I'm completely biased as I own a G35c. :-)
The coupe that has my attention right now (not including the GT-R which is well out of my range) though it the upcoming Camaro SS. I love the refinement of the G but you can't underestimate the fun of a high torque V8. Really though I place all the blame on that black Camaro they had at SEMA.
http://www.modernmuscle.org/forums/attachments/gen ... - svensko, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Why do you think there are so many Mac users? ;)
- uRmyHartBstopR, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Audi R8... if money is no object.
- SirVantes, on 02/28/2009, -2/+4Still looks better than the rear of the Cayman.
- m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Nicely said.
- punchinelli, on 02/28/2009, -6/+8Spend 10 grand more than the Cayman and get a Z06 that out-laps the 911 Turbo and Ferrari F430 on Nurburgring.
- danielman94, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Clever.
- shakin, on 02/28/2009, -1/+3The G37 is the comfortable version of the 370z. I've got a G35 (equivalent to 350z) and it's great. In many ways it's like a 3-series, but with a smaller price tag and better performance.
- rgalgozy, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2I hope by carrera you mean the GT supercar. On another note I have to disagree with you about the cayman. I have driven the cayman, not the s trim, and I find it to be very involving and a wonderful car. Now it is expensive so I will not argue that, but IMO it is far from garbage.
- m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2I like the 370. Is it for everyone? Nope. But if I had $70k and had to spend it between these two cars I'd be getting two of the Zs.
- m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Amen. Or you could buy two 370s.
- m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -1/+3Ya of course you could replace the _entire_ 370Z for the value of having "no substitute". Besides Nissan makes pretty high quality stuff to start with and for an extra $30,000 in hand I'd take my chances.
- uRmyHartBstopR, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Can't win the race with no lsd croc! Z ftw.
- Vesuvias, on 02/28/2009, -1/+3You just keep trying to justify your over-purchase on your over-engineered car... I will be sitting in my G35 soaking in the luxary and sport... thank you Nissan...
- duewydo, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2I will be in contact.
- m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Get a 135i with 18 inch alloys and paddle shifters. Primo BMW fun for the buck.
- Trekhawk, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1Meant $30K.
- shortydh76, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1get a auto z I am 6'9 and had same issues in a manual but auto is comfortable
- deathmatch, on 02/28/2009, -2/+3A Clash of Coupalizations?
- winmywii, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1I like the cts
- wookieninja, on 02/28/2009, -1/+2Cayman.....my ass!
