- kemp34, on 02/17/2009, -3/+79Chrysler is privately owned by a leveraged buyout organization. Why on earth should these leveraged speculators gain access to billions in taxpayer funds??
- BurningSand, on 02/17/2009, -3/+60Stick-it, Chrysler!
- GlobalGizmo, on 02/17/2009, -1/+41Who would have guessed...pretty much want everyone predicted would happen. It will be very interesting to see if they'll get the money again. With all of the controversy surrounding the last round of money the auto companies receive, I bet there will be a big following of people that would they should be on their own and if that means bankruptcy then so be it. We shall see.
- EVILTHETURTLE, on 02/18/2009, -2/+40Ford hasn't taken any bailout money and Chrysler is looking for seconds.
What a ***** mess Chrysler is. - astrixx, on 02/18/2009, -3/+41Please please PLEASE let them crash and burn already. It's a complete and utter waste of money. Their reputation with the American people is already beyond repair.
- floridiot2, on 02/18/2009, -1/+39FTA:
"General Motors and Chrysler LLC presented their updated turnaround plans to the federal government Tuesday and said they could need an additional $21.6 billion in federal loans between them because of worsening demands for their cars and trucks."
What a ***** joke. - StripeyMagee, on 02/18/2009, -2/+37No kidding, I'm sick to death of public risk and private profit. If 'we the people' can't get any profit, why should we underwrite the risk?
- govsucks, on 02/18/2009, -6/+37AS long as I walk the face of this earth, I will never buy a GM or Chrysler car again. Doesn't really matter, they'll just use the magic power of collectivism to rob the American people of the money they couldn't get them to willingly hand over.
- Shogi, on 02/18/2009, -2/+28No.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -2/+26Only Ford should come out of this thing alive. Let the other two rot.
- johncalvinhall, on 02/18/2009, -1/+23Let it burn.
- miggyb, on 02/18/2009, -0/+19Oh God, they're taxing marshmallows too now?!
- Tom10803, on 02/18/2009, -2/+20You make ***** ugly cars, you do not deserve the money.
- ontain, on 02/18/2009, -1/+19Chrysler isn't even a public company. it's private now. Let the owners bail them out :P
- Endomlik, on 02/18/2009, -4/+21$16,600,000,000/50,000peeps=$332,000 per/person
- sickb13, on 02/18/2009, -0/+15Good point man. The investment group that owns Chrysler is ***** OPRAH RICH. They are trying to fleece the government for a no interest loan because the banks won't give them *****.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -1/+15I always find it interesting the vitriol that people have towards this subject and the relative indifference people felt about the TARP and the banks. There doesn't seem to be the same level of ill will towards banks as there is towards the car companies which is funny, because the banks ***** us way harder to a much larger tune.
- haydukeqc, on 02/18/2009, -3/+17Please, just let them fail. This has gone on for far too long as it is.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -5/+19No. You can not profit because you allow the union rapes you for over $100/hour per employee which insures you will never compete with the Japanese automakers. You can not drop the union because they contributed to the Obama campaign. You are just *****.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -0/+14Let the bastards crash and burn.
No, better yet, give all this bailout money to Ford. At least they seem to know what the ***** they're doing. - deathmatch, on 02/18/2009, -0/+13Whats the point?
Theyll probably use the money to make concept cars that we will never be able to have. - FDDIcent, on 02/18/2009, -1/+14build better cars.
- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13They want more money and then they're going to lay off thousands of workers, and close 5 more plants!!!! They better start figuring out how to sell more cars
- HellyK, on 02/18/2009, -1/+13File for bankruptcy already.
- truck87bp, on 02/18/2009, -0/+12Please explain your statistics and comment.
- SuperVepr308, on 02/18/2009, -1/+12Who is suprised by this? Once you feed a stray dog they will never leave.
- Icetype, on 02/18/2009, -0/+11I'd rather have a copy of Grand Theft Auto than a Chrysler minivan.
- hymneforthedead, on 02/18/2009, -1/+12dare I say this.
I'm starting to look at ford, like its better than GM. - AmusedToDeath, on 02/18/2009, -0/+11Sorry, but we don't have a Tube in rural America, and a 20 mile walk to get to the grocery store is a bit much.
- prplnrpl, on 02/18/2009, -2/+13Chef's Dad: That's right. I said "I ain't giving you no treefiddy you goddam Loch Ness monster! Get your own goddam money!"
Chef's mom: I gave him a dollar
Chef's dad: She gave him a dollar
Chef's mom: I thought he'd go away if I gave him a dollar
Chef's dad: Well of course he's not gonna go away! You gave him a dollar, he's gonna assume you got more - RobynG7, on 02/18/2009, -0/+10Ford hasn't taken any bailouts or loans from the government (yet).
- LongShlong, on 02/18/2009, -0/+10"You didn't buy our ***** cars this year... So we're going to take your money anyway!"
- J3553, on 02/18/2009, -4/+14hey, remember that ad campaign chrysler had a few years back with the german guy in it? the one where they were essentially trying to say "hey, we're kinda german!"? HAHAHA....
***** crysler, and the other two too. - Kalais, on 02/18/2009, -0/+9Of course they will get the money unless you people get off your arses and start protesting...
- koolkeith12345, on 02/18/2009, -3/+12THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
- hansk, on 02/18/2009, -0/+9don't they realize that they're throwing their money straight into a meat grinder? i don't see how this is cheaper than letting this old dinosaur die then employ the outta work ex chrysler workers to improve the countries antiquated infrastructure.
- x4ncars4me, on 02/18/2009, -1/+10obama doesnt care about chrysler people
- inajeep, on 02/18/2009, -0/+8As a Jeep owner for years I have to agree that asking for more money from a company whose parent company has deep pockets leaves me feeling sickened. I don't want to see all those workers lose their jobs but there has to be some light at the end of the tunnel that shows they are heading in the right direction.
- OMGscience, on 02/18/2009, -1/+9Exactly! No more money for GM or Chrysler. Most American's are not buying cars right now. Not to mention nobody wants a gas guzziling peice of ***** built by corner cutting lazy UAW chimps
- sickb13, on 02/18/2009, -0/+8Ohhhhh, yeah, we're going to need an additional 5 billion dollars to keep our company afloat. I think it's time to cut the cord - if you need 9 billion dollars to keep your business going then you ***** deserve to tank. There are businesspeople who aren't incompetent that could make an incredibly stable business out of the *first* 4 BILLION DOLLARS.
- CarStan, on 02/18/2009, -3/+10the big 3 clearly have become bailout-junkies. friends don't support other friends addictions. Lets send them into rehab!
- reaper527, on 02/18/2009, -1/+8well, i said it the first time they asked for money and i'm going to say it again now. giving these companies bailout money is simply funding a failed system.
- TheXboxReview, on 02/18/2009, -1/+81 Ford was more than enough for me.
- Langford, on 02/18/2009, -5/+12Give me the 5 billion, and I'll start a brand new automotive company. Affordable clean running cars with plenty of seating and trunk space.
Don't mock, you know you've had the same thought. - gjmacd, on 02/18/2009, -1/+8My lease is up on my 2006 300 in 20 days. I went to the dealership. Normally you get the "pitch" to get into a new vehicle, or buy the one you have been leasing, OR extend your existing lease. NOPE. I got NOTHING. This is a Chrysler dealer thats been around for over 30 years. Stunningly, when I asked about "my options" I was told, "you can buy a new car, or the purchase the one you have leased. Unfortunately, Chrysler Financial is no longer leasing."
I suspect Chrysler will be the FIRST car maker to hit the skids.
If you can't service the customers financial needs, you no longer can compete.
I'm buying a pre-owned. The better deals are on used vehicles these days. - hamobu, on 02/18/2009, -1/+7Looks like Chrysler will shrink while loans will keep it kicking a while longer. Perhaps instead of an immediate collapse we are seeing a slow managed death instead.
- sbassoli, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6Noooooo, those things are ***** delicious.
- FlippityFlipz, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6Chrysler, I'm gonna have to fire you
- lonelymiddle1, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6I can hardly see how more money will help demand for their ***** cars. Mine knocks and shakes for about 10 minutes whenever the temperature drops below 50.
