- naner, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Check out comparable programs from ZipCar (zipcar.com) and iGoCars (igocars.org). $7.50 an hour is not that much. The plan I'm on with iGo is $30 a month which includes 10 hours of rental. That means I don't pay for gas (which was about $20/mo for me) or insurance ($50/mo). I come out way ahead. The only draw back is I have to plan my grocery/shopping trips a little more in advance than usual... which means a couple of hours instead of "hey, I'm gonna go now."
These programs are brilliant. - Barackalypse, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2I just checked Expedia and the cheapest weekday rental I could find was $67 (thanks to $15 in fees and taxes), so this is a good deal if you only need the car in the city.
- Paulish, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2$7.50 an hour is a bit steep. At this point I can only really see it being a novelty, but if the prices begin to drop it could become a serious transportation option for many people.
- NiftyG, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2The car was manufactured with help from ExxonMobil...
I think need to go get my tinfoil hat... - PCMedics, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Good Idea in a tourist area with lots of traffic
- fury420, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1yeah, $60 a day seems rather high for what amounts to a car rental
- jclaudew, on 08/28/2009, -0/+1Nice

- depro9, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1I don't think the oil men are going to like this very much. There will be blood!!!111
- copypastry, on 06/25/2009, -1/+2In before the American Automobile Association starts suing Car-sharers.
- netshark86, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1In Los Angeles people routinely drive 40 to 45 in a 30-35 mph zone when the traffic lightens up... I think because traffic is so bad most of the time people go nuts when the road is clear for 5 minutes.
This car could get you murdered. - Paulish, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1I think you have a point. The only part that would be hard for me is paying when the machine isn't running. It would almost pain me to have the "meter running" so to speak as I shop in the grocery store. I would feel rushed in the stuff I did, but still I suppose it would still make economic sense for some people.

- diulei, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1While it's may seem a bit steep, with this and ZipCar you don't pay for gas, which for an hour would probably cost you at least a couple dollars.
Also, if you live in a walkable area (sadly I don't), $7.50 a few hours a month is far, far less than car payments. - stefano1234, on 07/06/2009, -0/+0how many mile range as being acceptable for an electric?
- devnullDood, on 06/26/2009, -1/+135 MPH just made it worthless. Great concept though.
- fury420, on 06/25/2009, -1/+1the oil men helped build the battery, and invested in the car sharing company.
