- no2gates, on 01/06/2009, -0/+15Gilligan!!!!! I told you not to eat the crankshaft.
- WordsnCollision, on 01/06/2009, -0/+10As long as they don't use them to make radios - they'll never get off that damned island.
- TopherT, on 01/07/2009, -0/+10They're not driving, they're just using coconuts!
So?
Where did you get the coconuts?
What?
Coconut's a tropical fruit!
The wren flies south in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land.
Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?! - replaysMike, on 01/06/2009, -0/+10but who will think of the coconuts!
- Avaseal, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts
- Rorsach, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5Mercedes have been using bio stuff for a long time now, but they're using hemp instead of coconut.
Too bad that due to a few idiots in the US hemp can't be grown there. - inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Not at all. They could be carried.
- DrLeePhD, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Now if only the professor could make boat-parts from coconuts...
- MarkusX, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3It's cool, as long as it doesn't mold.
- idavidtang, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip... - honeybrass, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3wait at least 4-5 posts, this is stupid anyway but after 2 posts its just retarded
- betona, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Gilligan already did that 40 years ago:
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e113/diecast_car ... - MeghnaK, on 01/07/2009, -2/+4LOL! Can we eat the parts while driving?
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2I've known this for years, but never told my anti-drug, Mercedes owning, mom. :)
- honeybrass, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2big ones, small ones, some as big as your head.
- terenceyap7, on 01/08/2009, -0/+1Thanks for the links, my friend!
- ashthecarcrash, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Coconut airbags: headaches and a refreshing island drink in one!
- palehorse864, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1These won't sell well in hispanic countries if they have a quemacocos installed.
- h0dges, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1"...and while you're at it, see if you can build a coconut nintendo system too"
- dasdef, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1no ***** that i'll break the combo before it gets out of hand
- OMnicient, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Of course Mercedes and BMW have been using hemp fibers in auto manufacturing for years now... small difference between the US "big three" and those foreign imports
Yeah, sounds good... of course not as good as Henry Ford's hemp car:

Scroll down a little here and you can see him try to smash it with a sledgehammer:

Or if you were worried about that $400 ounce, here's some word on the hemp Lotus:
http://www.transport20.com/uncategorized/lotus-ann ...
Let people grow their hemp in coconut fiber, and let them make cars from hemp! - ChromaVita, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1But can he make a telephone out of coconuts?
- jmoh, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1There they are standing in a row
- mouthymadness, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1It's not a matter of where he "grips" it. It's a simple matter of weight ratio's. A five ounce bird, could not carry a one pound coconut!
But what if it was an African Swallow?
Oh yeah a African Swallow maybe, but not a European Swallow that's my point. - TheResoundingWa, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1...but suppose two swallows carried it together...
- fapfaptrain, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1It seems that people are overlooking the green benefits of such a technology with it's absurdity. Although the idea is odd, it's not like we've seen odd stuff before, and this has a lot of potential if developed further, as evidenced by Rorsach's post about Mercedes using hemp.
Maybe if there were more developments in this in addition to alternative fuel, the automotive industry could become a lot less of an influence on pollutants, industrially and on the road. - lazybuoy, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Should last longer than Chrysler parts.
- BCPneumatics, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1There are a lot of car trunks, and relatively few coconut husks...
- HeyBob, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1A friend has this cool product for the horticultural, agricultural, and environmental industries
http://www.slnaturalfibre.com/
They're doing really well, even in the downturn, due to the fact that they save the industries money - ford1458, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1are you brave to drive the car from coconut on the road?
cheers
http://skateboarding-games.blogspot.com - Avaseal, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Ya if I wasn't such an ***** i'd probably be upset, but that's karma for ya.
- Newswiseguy, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1it could grip it BY THE HUSK!
- sweetwater88, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1I remember the Ford Reflex concept had carpets made of banana leaf fibers and seat foam made of soy. I believe the soy foam seat made it through product into Mustang or something. So I won't doubt this could be possible.
- terenceyap7, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Replacing synthetic fibers with coconut husk fibers does sound good, but we'll have to see the results of the stress tests and lifespan of such types of fiberglass before anything else.
- To0pak, on 01/07/2009, -1/+1that's nuts!!!
- cyprianoman, on 01/17/2009, -0/+0This is great! If we can find more ways, like this to reduce our waste we'll be much better off.
- Whirly5, on 01/07/2009, -1/+1Wouldnt they be extremely flammable?
- exitsec, on 01/07/2009, -0/+0AFAIK, many cars already had this stuff years ago in their upholstery?
- DIGGorTHREAT, on 01/09/2009, -0/+0cool project!
- adelodigg, on 01/07/2009, -3/+1but who will think of the coconuts!
- dasdef, on 01/07/2009, -6/+1COCOCOMBO BREAKER
