- Synchro, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2If memory serves it is because it is about the same mixture as home heating oil. So a refinery can make both and they compete. In the winter diesel prices go higher because the demand for home heating oil goes up, production of it goes up so supply of diesel goes down and the price goes up. There are other factors as well, but supposedly this is one of the big ones.

- Nerys, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1Talk about price coughing. In NJ I think the Diesel tax is 64 cents a gallon. SO why is off road diesel only 15 cents cheaper than on road :-) (we use diesel in our heater at work because even FULL tax on road diesel is cheaper than home heating oil. BY A LOT.
