- AmyVernon, on 08/11/2008, -10/+552I hate these people beyond all reason. In other news, 42 percent of people are idiots and shouldn't be allowed to drive.
- Rapter09, on 08/11/2008, -0/+281How do you "not have time" to signal?
I mean, maybe if you're a tourist and in that case (at least up here) RCMP are generally a little lenient, and that makes sense: You honestly don't know where the hell you're going, really. But if you've been living in an area for any length of time and still don't know when to signal, or when to turn, and still don't "have time" then you should really put the keys away and start walking, and probably see a doctor about memory loss. - lolwaffle, on 11/03/2008, -0/+279Maybe they ran out of blinker fluid?
- Jektal, on 08/11/2008, -1/+180How effing hard is it to signal? You've got your hands on the wheel, just flick a few fingers on your left hand!
- Dabaum, on 08/11/2008, -21/+187I don't signal because my middle name is 'Danger'
- Spuy767, on 08/12/2008, -1/+129How ***** hard is it to extend your middle finger and swat at that little stalk to the left of your steering wheel?
- spoulson, on 08/12/2008, -0/+115Too busy = Talking on cell phone; applying makeup; feeding face; being Italian and talking with hands
None are excusable! And stop cruising in the left lane, too! - Wilbur666, on 08/11/2008, -22/+137Ha those statistics are laughable! You don't have time to signal, it adds more "excitement to your trip." Please. People in the USA are just flat out lazy and ignorant sometimes. It's like those people that blame the fast food chains for being obese. Take personal responsbility. In the UK, they charge $200 for driving and talking on your cell phone and $1000 for the second offense. These people that can't take 1/2 a second to signal should be fined. $75 is too low. I would say $100 a pop at least. Take responsbility and stop being lazy. It's contagious obviously.
- f4nt0m4s, on 08/12/2008, -1/+112You are an ***** if you are driving in the right lane and you slow down without signaling to take a right turn. Also, I can't stand people that don't signal when they make lane changes.
It's common ***** courtesy to use your signal, and it's pretty easy to click the little lever....it's part of the steering wheel. Police need to stop pulling over efficient drivers going 5-20mph above the speed limit, and they need to start pulling over the douche bags that can't signal.
If you speed and signal you are most likely an efficient and intelligent driver. If you don't signal you're just a dick.
Once I have enough money to buy my Ice Cream Truck and heat seeking missile system I will be the king of the road, so all you non-signaling people better watch out. - lucy22, on 08/11/2008, -1/+109Honestly, if people don't signal and cut in my lane, I get annoyed. How am I supposed to anticipate what they are planning with a highway full of people.
"Adding excitement" to the trip is plain dangerous! - o0joshua0o, on 08/12/2008, -1/+106When I lived in Los Angeles, I noticed that when you signal on the interstate, it makes people think "This guy's trying to get in front of me! I'd better speed up". Consequently, I had to learn to stop using the signal as a request, and start using it as a warning.
Now that I live somewhere with more civilized drivers, I have gone back to using the signal as it was intended. - granolajoe, on 08/11/2008, -1/+88Ah *****...where to begin with this. Hmmm...I could spend hours, even days ranting about all of the jackasses that have cut me off and nearly caused me or other people riding with me to die because of their carelessness and laziness.
My favorites are: the people who slowly move into your lane without signaling, cause they are too chilled out to be bothered to flick their finger over; the ***** who swerve in front of you as you are heading for an exit ramp on the highway, nearly clipping the front of your car; the idiots with $60,000+ cars that are jam-packed with luxury features, but skip the signals, almost as if they got the base model that "didn't come with them." - passedoutghost, on 08/12/2008, -1/+87My mother should be included in that 42%. She doesn't indicate at ALL. I'm always afraid of getting in the car with her and should I need to go anywhere with her I always insist on driving. When I can't drive for any particular reason and remind her to indicate, she always does it too late. And by late I mean she indicates after she's finished her ***** turn....And she's Chinese. That can't be good for the stereotype...
- timoumd, on 08/12/2008, -3/+82Itd be nice if I EVER saw a cop use a signal...
- aladrin, on 08/12/2008, -1/+78Only 42%?
- MatthieuFaux, on 08/12/2008, -0/+767 percent "added excitement" to their trip by combining another car's front end with their driver's side door thus resolving their boredom of functioning legs.
- GoatMonkey2112, on 08/12/2008, -0/+75The guy who just got cut off unexpectedly will have no trouble extending his middle finger.
- restlessmouse, on 08/12/2008, -4/+63By the time I text my friend "OMG I can has left ur street lol k bai" I barely have time to turn
- xtothepowerofx, on 08/11/2008, -0/+59seriously.. my blinkers are broken so i have to turn them on, and then off when i finish the turn.. it still only takes one finger and i manage to do it all the time...
/and yes.. if you were wondering, lots of people call them blinkers :P - BOFH2, on 08/12/2008, -4/+60I got behind a telephone crew truck who while drive 30 down a residential street to the office suddenly decided to parralell park with no turn signal indicating anything. I pulled up and acted interested in the truck.
me - What year truck is that
him - looks confused for a second - 1998
me nice truck, must have been the year that turn signals were optional
him - confused look - ooops sorry - sailadayaway, on 08/12/2008, -0/+54And please, for the love of everything good in this world, can people start using their signals BEFORE they start to brake?? Once you're braking, I don't care if you're turning, all I need to know is you're ABOUT to brake, that way I can start braking. I couldn't give two ***** what road you're turning down... People seriously need a refresher course on turn signal etiquette..
- Rhendal, on 08/12/2008, -0/+50Or drive the speed limit when their lights aren't on...
- wdr1, on 08/12/2008, -1/+48I'm guessing most of that 42% is here in LA. Turn signals aren't seen as a courtesy, but a threat. As in "yeah, buddy, I'm sooooo sure I can take your lane from you, I'm going to signal to rub it in your face!" I've had more cars here _speed up_ when I signal than anywhere else. And don't even get me started on people here tailgating emergency vehicles. Sheesh.
- superdavex, on 08/12/2008, -0/+46Another 40% of drivers turn their turn signal on after hitting there breaks and slowing down. Once I see your break lights light up I can figure out for myself your slowing down. The turn signal is meant to give warning for what your about to do, not what you have already done.
- tehrich, on 08/12/2008, -0/+45And at only $8.99 a bottle that's no excuse!
http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_ ... - f4nt0m4s, on 08/12/2008, -1/+45hahaha...dugg for "being Italian and talking with hands"
the visual image is astoundingly hilarious - f4nt0m4s, on 08/12/2008, -0/+43@CoMpUtErITGuY
The right lane is for slower drivers, but typically just on the highway. People don't take right turns on the highway, they merge on or off.
I was referring to people slowing almost to a complete stop in the middle of rush hour traffic (on a city or suburb 4-lane road), without signaling, and then taking a right turn. How would I know to get into the left lane when they are going to turn when they don't have the courtesy to indicate that they are turning? And, in rush hour, this sometimes creates a domino effect where people in the left lane see the guy in the right lane slowing down for no reason, so sometimes they slow down too hurting the flow of traffic.
I do not appreciate you making fun of my cranium accessories, even if they resemble an ass, and you can spare me the driving lesson. - passedoutghost, on 08/12/2008, -0/+41Have you guys seen Shoot 'Em Up? I want to do what Clive Owen did to the ***** driver.
- ileftfark, on 08/12/2008, -5/+46"... I was too drunk???"
- neoform, on 08/12/2008, -3/+44Mr. Smith: I move my finger one inch to use my turn signal. Why are these ***** so lazy they can't move their finger one ***** measly inch to drive more safely? You wanna know why?
DQ: Not particularly.
Mr. Smith: Because these rich bastards have to be callous and inconsiderate in the first place to make all that money, so when they get on the road, they can't help themselves. They've gotta be callous and inconsiderate drivers too. It's in their nature. - imLissy, on 08/12/2008, -1/+40aaaand this is why I hate 57% of the population. WTF??? You have the power to make something blink! Why would you NOT want to do that???
- hugznotthugzkid, on 08/12/2008, -0/+38That's my biggest peeve. Especially traffic weavers. Those types of drivers who constantly change lanes weaving through traffic without signaling. And my other road peeve is when I am clearly signaling to change a lane and the moron speeds up like it's a territorial battle.
- BinaryFragger, on 08/12/2008, -0/+35"I pulled you over because your tail light was blinking back there when you made that turn."
- Myztry, on 08/12/2008, -2/+36I HATE people who indicate to inform you they've just completed a turn.
It's ***** pointless. It's like taking something, using it and then asking if you can. - Coffeedemon, on 08/12/2008, -0/+33Dugg for blinkers. Thats what I always heard people call them growing up.
As for the topic. I can generally handle the people who don't signal. The ones that drive me absolutely nuts are the ones who get in the passing lane and either drive the same speed as the other lane or barely 5 Km/Hr faster so it takes them 5 minutes to pass. - akula89, on 08/12/2008, -1/+34last name: Ous
- timoumd, on 08/12/2008, -1/+33I agree. Start enforcing it. Beginning with cops. I swear they are the worst offenders. They have to be at about 90% for not signalling.
- thebigbradwolf, on 08/12/2008, -0/+31My favorite is people who wait until they're in both lanes to signal.
- DoctorX, on 08/12/2008, -1/+31Myztry: I HATE people who indicate to inform you they've just completed a turn. It's ***** pointless. It's like taking something, using it and then asking if you can.
They're almost as bad as double-knockers -- people whose idea of entering your private space is to quickly knock on the door twice and barge in without waiting for a response.
"Oh, you were masturbating. Hey, don't yell at me, I knocked!" - timoumd, on 08/12/2008, -2/+31Its like 5 times harder than changing the channel! Come on.
- Jwoey, on 08/12/2008, -0/+28lol and i watched the weather this morning and lol when i opened my homepage lol there it was again telling me the temperature lol
- notSLICK, on 08/12/2008, -2/+30i regularly flip people off who dont signal.
dangerous *****. - Chairboy, on 08/12/2008, -5/+33Where the ***** does this generalization come from? You're saying that everyone in the USA is flat out lazy and ignorant and getting modded up to the sky? How much of this up-digging is because people think you made some insightful point about fines, and how much is because it's fashionable to slam the entire US because of the actions of a few douchbags in government?
***** your hyperbole. You're the conversational equivalent of cancer, ***** like this kills communication and destroys any chance folks have to actually make things better. - HonestAbe, on 08/12/2008, -0/+26In other news, motor vehicle accidents are one of the biggest killers in America.
- MikeFromAmerica, on 08/12/2008, -0/+26vehicular navigation intention indicators?
- loveddevol, on 08/12/2008, -0/+24oh dont give me that ***** bout adding excitement. no signal bastards annoy the ***** out of me as much as everyone else here.
- waydee, on 08/12/2008, -1/+24Ahh the BMW syndrome, scientists have been puzzling over this one for years - as soon as a driver enters a nice shiny Bimmer their ability to use indicator signals is completely inhibited.
But on a serious note it pisses me off exponentially, in the UK there is a roundabout every 20metres (or so it feels sometimes) and failure to signal on them makes it impossible to know when I can or can't pull out. - Pittance, on 08/12/2008, -0/+231 car length? maybe at 20mph. At 70, 1 car length will just let you see more as you smash into the guy in front of you.
- GiggleStick, on 08/12/2008, -2/+25You should always be prepared to stop without hitting the person in front of you. You should remain 2 seconds behind the person in front of you at all times. This means the distance between you and other cars should increase as you speed up.
It is irrelevant why the person in front of you stopped. What if a small child ran in front of them, so they had to stop hard, and then you rear ended them, pushing them in to the child they managed not to hit? Sorry you had to learn the hard way, but everyone should understand this before they begin driving.
Furthermore, tailgating and lane switching to try and weave through heavy traffic is the actual cause of rush hour traffic. The capacity of the road is far reduced by slow human reaction time not being buffered by sufficient distance between cars. And yet, the people most angry about the traffic, are in actuality, the root cause of it.
So really, your last sentence should be "Don't be an *****, because the driver ahead may be one too." - thall, on 08/12/2008, -0/+22@Verdanic, you're supposed to signal *before* you turn, not signal as you are turning.
