- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+96And there is a pic of a Veyron... why?
- VanD, on 12/01/2008, -0/+25Better information:
http://jalopnik.com/5100316/2010-nissan-gt+r-spec- ... - austang, on 12/02/2008, -0/+21yeah I have one of those in my garage
exactly 1/100th it's size :) go go hot wheelz! - ElectroStep, on 12/02/2008, -0/+15"Nissan has just dropped the deets.."
Stopped reading here. - MacEnvy, on 12/02/2008, -1/+16Yeah I think we all were. But we'll all have to sell our imaginary 911s and Koenigseggs to make room in the garage.
- Sainthax, on 12/02/2008, -3/+18My Japanese car days ended with my RX-7, then as the Supra and NSX were put to rest that marked the end of Japan's supercars...now I can get a new Japanese supercar for $160k? no thanks, for that price I'll be waiting on the new Esprit. No matter how badass it is at the end of the day you still spent an obscene amount of money on a Nissan, and 3,800 lbs with no back seat? what happened there? lead body panels?. Launch control on my SMG BMW doesn't void the warranty, you'd think if a car company set out to build a monster, driving it like it was designed wouldn't void the warranty.
- Malik112099, on 12/02/2008, -6/+20Why is the thumbnail a Bugatti Veyron?
- divinediva, on 12/02/2008, -7/+18I was thinking of picking up a 2009 Nissan GTR as a track car.
- Audiophile44, on 12/02/2008, -0/+9Sounds like buying a regular GT-R and using aftermarket mods could be cheaper and you might end up with an even faster car...
- nemisphere, on 12/01/2008, -0/+9well, at least it's affordable...
- thedrue, on 12/02/2008, -1/+9I sure as hell would not replace a Koenigsegg with a GTR!
real or imaginary - fr0ng, on 12/02/2008, -3/+11As much as I love the GT-R, $160k is still a lot for a Nissan.
- mikbunn, on 12/02/2008, -0/+7It's called a spoiler. It creates downforce, so when you're flying around a corner, you maintain traction. It's really not important until you're going more than 80mph, but the GT-R will be going a lot faster than 80mph.
- Misanthrope, on 12/02/2008, -0/+7And Buraken beat him by about 17 hours, so...
- Namakemono, on 12/02/2008, -0/+6The ZR-1 is $100k. The GT-R is $70k.
- maximilen, on 12/02/2008, -0/+6Compared to what, a Veyron??
- mikbunn, on 12/02/2008, -2/+8I won't knock the amount of car you get for your money with a Corvette, but they have no style. It's just a wedge. A really, really fast wedge.
- CMiYC, on 12/02/2008, -0/+6Just remember that the GT-R is the only super-car with a (apparently) disposable transmission.
This is a page from the Owner's manual, which you can download for yourself from their web page. There are 7 slots to log when you replace the transmission.
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=27xr0qa&s=4 - LanceUppercut, on 12/02/2008, -0/+6You left out the "in forza 2" part.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5i was thinking of grabbing a couple for everyday use.
- Premier, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5I am sure some aftermarket tunes can do suspension and weights tweaks for less
- joaob, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5He's getting buried because the ZR-1 is more expensive then the stock GT-R.
- i4ybrid, on 12/02/2008, -1/+6It's not a muscle car. It's meant to be a track car.
- guarnibl, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4learn math newb.
- Juaquin, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4You know they make a regular GT-R model for less than $80,000, right? That's definitely affordable for Ferrari-beating performance.Throw in an extra 10-15 grand for aftermarket tweaks (pulling out the rear seats is easy and free), and you'll have a car faster than the V-spec for a LOT less money.
All that said, I'm not at all impressed by the V-spec. Way overpriced, but more importantly, no extra horsepower? Come on Nissan. You can't sell a premium model without adding at least 50hp. - pkon, on 12/02/2008, -2/+6$160,000 for the Spec-V? Get real there isn't even a much increase in the horsepower and you're removing two components (the back seats) from the car. I would gladly own the GT-R as it is such a nice car regardless of getting its ass spanked by the ZR1. If you look at the drag comparsion on the cars...IF the ZR1 didn't beat the GT-R that would be such a HUGE disappointment, not to mention the horsepower/torque difference. If I had the money I'd buy the GT-R no problem. They should probably re-consider pricing it for such a high amount tho.
- Trekhawk, on 12/02/2008, -5/+9And no power increase. Lame.
- cricketsymphony, on 12/02/2008, -1/+5yeah obviously they photoshopped that entire video of it
< /sarcasm> - tgc1, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3Glad I wasn't the only one. I was literally repeating that outloud.
"Deets?.... Deets?! Are you ***** kidding me?" *closes link* - saitama, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3"The same reason a $300 Banana Republic sports jacket is too expansive"
That word 'expansive'...I don't think it means what you think it means... - apena89, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3i haven't seen 'newb' spelled like that since battle.net.
- OafBoaster, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3Why would anyone buy this as a track car? It's pretty fast and a great feat of engineering, but in most cases the more raw cars are a lot more fun. That's why spec miata for instance is a hell of a lot more fun than some of the much faster series.
- eavesdrop, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3It should be in the price range of a comparable porsche. But this is Nissan's Flagship vehicle, automatic markup?
- ttfadia, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3First time I've ever seen but and bought interchanged...
- blankoboy, on 12/02/2008, -1/+4R34 is the king in my books still. I f-ing love that car.
- DrHoliday, on 12/02/2008, -1/+4A 3800 lb Japanese TT supercar?
Has the VR-4 been reborn? - stk198323, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2We will see the transmission break right away... but yeah they could put 600 - 700 hp.
- Zervaman, on 12/02/2008, -2/+4What the hell are you smoking?!
The NSX is most definitely a supercar. It might not be impressive today, but it sure as hell was when it came out in 1990.
The NSX's main competitor at the time was the Ferrari 348, which produced 312 hp.
Stop judging 18 year old cars by today's standards. That's just retarded. - jbmcb, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2A 911 Turbo weighs less, develops the same HP, and costs $40K less. It also doesn't look like crap.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2The Viper wasn't stock.
- matthasaproblem, on 12/02/2008, -1/+3There's a non-V-Spec GT-R in Evanston, IL that I've seen driving around. Pictures honestly don't do it justice, it's traffic-stopping beautiful.
- tgc1, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Yeah I saw that dodge viper lapping the ring. I wasn't impressed. It was sloppy and looked cheap. I love the Viper but again, I wasn't particularly enthused with the performance.
- GT35R, on 12/02/2008, -2/+4The NSX and the Supra were not supercars. Neither of cars even pushed past 330hp. The Nissan GTR is much more a super car.
The performance of the GTR is unmatched by anything near the 70k value. - inactive, on 12/02/2008, -1/+3stop drinking all that haterade
- mikbunn, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Zose are speedholes. Ze make ze car go faster.
- Demos27, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2"At over 3,800 pounds, the GT-R is portly by supercar standards. To address this, Nissan is ditching the back seats in favor of a carbon fiber shelf, and healthy use of the material in areas like body trim and interior bits has also been revealed. Exact weight figures haven't been released yet, but anything that helps in the power-to-weight ratio department is always good.
The ECU will also receive an "overboost" tweak, giving the motor more power in midrange revs situations like passing. And I don't mean on the freeway."
So your paying $80,000 more for a little weight loss and a computer chip...wtf? - sgtiger, on 12/02/2008, -1/+3After reading that article, sounds like the slant was to the Porsche. Otherwise, it looks like the driver couldn't properly operate the gas pedal on the GT-R.
Either way, even if they tied, the GT-R is half the price of the GT2. And looks hotter to boot. - tgc1, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2I'm really starting to wonder about Nissan. I have been in love with the Skyline for years now. And after the initial release of the details regarding the GTR, I was very displeased knowing that there was no manual option. There has also been rampant rumors about Nissan canceling warranties if you disable the traction control all the way. Then there was the issue of the transmission being an all-or-nothing non-serviceable item. I think that's *****. I'm sorry Nissan, I loved the R32, R33 and R34, but I'm really starting to lose faith with this new incarnation.
Albeit, i'm impressed with the performacne. I still don't think i'd be apt to change my mind minding the above. I'd honestly rather buy a previous generation skyline and modify the ***** out of it. With a good many Skylines getting to over 1000hp, I think that's the route i'd prefer to take. -
