- BlindingEdge, on 08/29/2008, -2/+80Transformers 2: The Two and a Half Hour Chevrolet Commercial.
- sockpuppets, on 08/29/2008, -1/+41It transforms into healthcare for remaining US auto workers.
- 3daywarranty, on 08/29/2008, -1/+37i hope this car actually comes out
- Redline500, on 08/29/2008, -1/+211. If you're commuting 75 miles each way to work, you're doing it wrong.
2. The total range is actually over 600 miles.
3. It will recharge overnight.
4. Most rumors place the price at under $30,000.
5. The math is above your level, but it will get the equivalent of over 150 miles per gallon. - EvilJelloMan, on 08/30/2008, -3/+21You really think GM going in the ***** has anything to do with JD power being owned by foreign interests? Are you on CRACK? Japanese cars came in, with better warranties, better designs, and better mobility to respond to the market, and GM sat around with their thumbs up their asses while they got thoroughly pwned.
- rwert, on 08/29/2008, -1/+19What will the Volt transform into? An energon cube?
- Crazymaniacc, on 08/29/2008, -1/+17That was a lame video.
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 08/29/2008, -0/+10This may not be the final version but it still looks awesome. Good job to GM for moving in the right direction.
- wpsiler, on 08/29/2008, -3/+13I'm so impressed with the Volt, unlike the concept, it's a seriously good looking vehicle. When did GM start making such nice cars?
- york2600, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9How does this not get mentioned 100 times a second when we're talking about electric cars. The tiny little engine in a car is horribly inefficient compared to a giant electrical plant be it coal, oil, or natural gas. In addition you can make the electricity from anything you want (wind, hydro, solar, geo thermal, or traditional fossil fuels.)
It's a lot easier to stop a large scale power plant from polluting then it is to stop 100,000 cars individually. Just the cost of catalytic converters in cars that now have 3 is quite high. Additionally in the US where we often drive just a few miles those catalytic converters aren't really doing a thing since they don't heat up fast enough. - Kohaxx, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9Bumblebee needs to forget Shia is inside him and transform.
- DeuceDiggalo, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9Wait... my name! Give it back.
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -1/+8Wait, there's still some US auto workers left?
- xicer, on 08/30/2008, -0/+7There was a mustang in transformers, it was done up in a police package. Try to check your facts before you criticize next time.
- ph070sh0p, on 08/30/2008, -0/+7Power plants are more efficient.
- jeffvvisoft, on 08/30/2008, -2/+8Since they've had their ass handed to them by Toyota and other imports
- dsmx, on 08/30/2008, -0/+6GM has always made nice cars they just chose not to sell them in the US.
- Solstice, on 08/30/2008, -1/+7The power plant can use many sources to generate electricity besides fossil fuels (i.e. wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, nuclear, etc.) This will help reduce our dependence on crude oil as our primary source of energy for transportation.
- Solstice, on 08/30/2008, -1/+6Toyota and Honda had the first few "Fast and Furious" movies. They're done now.
- silentboom, on 08/30/2008, -6/+11GM has always made awesome cars before Americans started sucking the genitals of every foreign country. Before JD power was owned by foreign interests.......Look back to the 60's, 50's, etc, Camaros, Corvettes, Firebirds, Chevelles, etc, etc, etc ,etc, America was built on these cars. They set the trends, those cars are legendary in other countries even. Some of their engines and body designs are still being used today.
- tadhgisaledgend, on 08/29/2008, -8/+13Is that a smart car? :0
I hope the mustang squashes Shia this time. - tacojohn, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5If it looks like this (which I would image it being pretty close), and delivers on their promise of 40 miles per charge– I'm totally getting one. The interior looks quality as well.
- stubarwick, on 08/30/2008, -1/+5If you built sustainable energy power plants (wind, solar, geothermal, tidal energy, etc...) there wouldn't be any fossil fuel burning in the mix....
or nuclear could work too... but that has some waste of its own, so I don't consider it an ideal solution to pursue. - PhoenixAvatar2, on 08/30/2008, -0/+4Taken by a troll too... for shame.
- winmywii, on 08/30/2008, -0/+4Wow, it actually looks pretty good from what you can see in the video.
- ciano, on 08/30/2008, -1/+5Why do people complain about this? It made business sense to give the movie to one company. That means the one company pays a lot more for the sponsorship, which means more money to spend on production. And since GM owns more brands than any other car company, they were the best choice.
- jeffvvisoft, on 08/30/2008, -0/+4Ride a bike
- Amazetbm, on 08/30/2008, -0/+4Kinda like the G1 cartoon was a 30 minute Hasbro commercial. LOL
- nitesoIja, on 08/30/2008, -1/+5it transforms into a vibrator ...megan fox will like
- ingoldsby, on 08/30/2008, -0/+3It will. And I for one can't wait.
- brad3378, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Anybody else notice that they totally "Transformed" the interior design?
Compare the interior pics in the article with google images:

The Transformers! Robots in disguise...
Duh.... - Hyperion1144, on 08/30/2008, -0/+3Articles about this have been on Digg more times than I can remember... Are you new here? The question of: "Does a coal-fired power plant produce so much CO2 and pollution as to strip out all advantages of electric cars?" has been answered, conclusively, many times over. Many of these articles have been posted here. Coal is still better than conventional ICE engines in cars. Do a search, they've gotta be in the archives somewhere...
Plus, once you start rolling out the cars... demand for electric power goes up. Because the fleet is moving to electric, business now has a guarantee that demand will STAY up and continue to rise as more and more electric/plug-in hybrids move into the market. Combine this fact with the ever declining cost for renewables vs. coal...
Over time... more renewable plants can get built, which gives us practice, which cause renewable tech to get better and more efficient... which further lowers costs of renewables, so as coal plants age and need to be replaced, we can replace them with renewables.
Fixes the chicken-and-egg problem. Get the electrics on the road first, stimulate demand for more power. Just make sure the NEW plants aren't dirty old coal! - mu0p, on 08/30/2008, -0/+3Yea, im completely with you, ive never ever looked at american cars.... i've always been into and owned VWs. But this car looks phenomenal. My jaw literally dropped, im really excited to see the final model.
- CrushThemTorg, on 08/30/2008, -0/+3Dugg for using "they" as a third person aggregate pronoun.
- protodon, on 08/30/2008, -0/+3I would cut and paste this comment and keep it in a safe place if i were you!
- EtherGnat, on 08/30/2008, -0/+3Ooh, it sucks to be wrong when you're such a pain-in-the-ass know-it-all doesn't it?
http://jalopnik.com/cars/news/exclusive-transforme ... - inactive, on 08/30/2008, -0/+3"que trendy rock music"
- Dino451, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Did they change the color scheme for optimus prime? Is that corvette Jazz?
- FasmTrout, on 08/30/2008, -3/+5Dugg for movie making, buried for Michael Bay.
- CosmicJustice, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Well if you bothered to be even slightly informed on a subject before commenting on it, you would know that most of the "foreign" cars sold in the US are also manufactured in the US.
- Hyperion1144, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Unfortunately, if you are going to produce a vehicle with a super-low coefficient of drag... physics is a bitch. You only have so many shapes to choose from. Why do you think Honda's new Plug-In Hybrid looks like a Prius with new head- and tail-lights? Better get used to it, this is the look of the future, like it or not. You can't build a blocky-shape car that gets 120 MPG.
You think cars all look alike now? Wait until they are ALL hybrids or electrics. I know, I'm a little sad too... :( - Hyperion1144, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Thanks for that little piece of insight, Mr. Buzzkill. I'm sure no one else here knew that. What's next? Are you gonna tell us that pro-wrestling is fake, and that our kitten, Mr. Bootsie, that we had when we were 5 didn't REALLY go to live with a nice family in the country???
- EtherGnat, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2"Why do people complain about this? It made business sense to give the movie to one company."
Yes, it made good business sense. I don't think many people would dispute that. Seeing as how they don't share the profits with people who buy tickets the viewers tend to care more about how it impacted the movie.
Yes, I realize there are indirect benefits for moviegoers to a movie actually making a profit. Don't shoot the messenger, I didn't care one way or the other what brand the cars were. - knowitman, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2It's not a Corvette concept as much as it is a show vehicle with stylings from other generations of Corvettes. It was made to celebrate the 100 anniversary of GM, and it only makes sense for them to use their flagship vehicle, the Corvette.
- myhandleondigg, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2dugg for the comments having pictures of a 63 corvette.. my favorite car :)
- protodon, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Yeah the making of movies is so much less interesting than the finished product. I mean they are going like 4 miles per hour but in the final cut I'm sure they'll make it look like they were edging the speed of light.
- oveedrx, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Ecoformers... robots in Eco-friendly disguise
- OneLess, on 08/29/2008, -1/+3I'd never seen the Corvette concept before and I'm not sure how I feel about it...It got _some_ nice styling but the rest of it looks like it's trying too hard to be a cross between a Sting Ray and the Mach 5.
- gamben0, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Transformers as a 1:30 car ad? SHOCKER!
