- inactive, on 11/29/2008, -1/+32Actually gas prices are down, but not that that matters too much if you're about to spend $500,000+ on a car.
- antonio97b, on 11/30/2008, -0/+20Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads.
- randypanda, on 11/30/2008, -2/+19Buried as inaccurate because my Prius can reach up to 245
...
kms - Darkyuubi, on 11/30/2008, -1/+17...because the Zonda isn't all those things and more?
What you fail to mention is that the Zonda MONSTERS the Bugatti once they put it around their power lap...
That and you obviously forgot the Spyker, the Merc and the LP640 which are all very good looking cars, fast and luxurious. - FI5HERMAN, on 11/29/2008, -4/+18Wow I can remember my first car, it did 121 mph in 3rd gear just after I had the carbie tuned.....oops!! nearly gave my age away. They can do that these days in first gear and no carby, imagine How long before we are racing nuclear powered ships in space ????
- Kumaku, on 11/30/2008, -1/+14I hate you Forbes.com!!!
- slapded, on 11/30/2008, -1/+13FORBES = BURIED. ***** web designers. sorry
- funkyiguana, on 11/29/2008, -3/+1511. The Batmobile.
- EASwanson, on 11/30/2008, -1/+12Silva GT3 $75,000 with 530 horsepower and a 0-60 of 3.7 ... pretty cheap compared to everything else on this list.
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -2/+12Old article is old. Been homepaged several other times.
Oh and buried for Forbes slideshow *****. - inactive, on 11/30/2008, -0/+10Was it a 3 speed?
- 1ShotJake, on 11/30/2008, -0/+9hmm straight lines... but guess who had the faster lap? hamster was certainly happy
- spectre_25gt, on 11/30/2008, -5/+14Yes... drag racing is a really good test of a supercar. The Veyron is an overindulgent inefficient brick on wheels.
- SkittlesUSA, on 11/30/2008, -0/+8Gas is under $1.60 a gallon here in Virginia..
- mrneill, on 11/30/2008, -1/+9First of all, we've seen this list before. There are several things that are blatantly wrong with it, considering some of the world's fastest aren't even on the list! The new SL65 AMG black is a car by Mercedes that trumps the 5 year old SLR. The CCX is actually a picture of the CCX-R which should have been noted because it is something even more amazing (1100+ hp) and it uses biofuel. The Ruf 9ff should be on this list as well, considering they aren't just naming big automobile company cars. Also the Spyker C8 listed has much more than the audi sourced V8 400 hp in the standard to hit speeds like that, it that version it is pushing out 600, something neglected to be noted in the article. Fastest is not an objective term apparently, because some of these cars are trumped by smaller cars in 0-60 times, including the ariel atom, or the ultima GTR (0-100mph in less than 10 seconds). Even a Gumball, or a Carrera GT was ignored.
.....Buried for inaccuracy - dannytehmanny, on 11/30/2008, -0/+7gumpert Apollo
- Evi1d33d, on 11/30/2008, -0/+710 cars that you can't afford.
- HunterSlayer, on 11/29/2008, -7/+14The Bugatti Veyron is still the best. No sacrifices are made - it's fast, luxurious, and beautiful. Look at the other cars they chose, engineered for speed not looks. The Bugatti is stunning and it kicks ass in terms of speed too.
Check out the latest episode of Top Gear, it demolished the Zonda F in a drag race, absolutely amazing. - UnWeave, on 11/30/2008, -0/+6*Can almost do.
- sjar23, on 11/30/2008, -0/+5LP-640 FTW in looks
- antonio97b, on 11/30/2008, -0/+5Yeah but you'll make a comment about it.
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -0/+5Dont blame Forbes for that, this story is at least 1 year old and has been on the homepage at least twice that I remember.
Blame Forbes for having a ***** 200 pixel wide slideshow instead of a real website. - tetraelement, on 11/30/2008, -1/+5the zonda was faster though on the powerlap board... straight line doesnt matter in the real world, balance is what matters.
- enigma985, on 11/30/2008, -1/+5GT-R is better looking and faster than most of those
also 600k cheaper - Darkyuubi, on 11/30/2008, -0/+4I had no idea the Spyker is as quick as it is...
- Rikushix, on 11/30/2008, -0/+4They didn't mention the CCX-R, i.e. the CCX running on biofuel: 1018 bhp, 0-60 in 3.1 seconds.
Personally, I'd take that over the Veyron ANY day. Just my two cents. - inactive, on 11/30/2008, -0/+4I would go with the McLaren Mercedes SLR, or maybe the Lambo. Clarkson said the SLR is the only supercar that you would really want to drive everyday.
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -0/+4Ford GT does 217mph, there are many cars that are missing from that list that can go between 210 and 230mph, and were the hell is the Mclaren F1? that does 240+mph.
- jeevesatvic, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3The top speed of a Prius is about 170km/h tops.
- antonio97b, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3Fastest means top speed.
Not quickest which is 1/4 mile time, and a Gumball isn't a production car. - Vladamir, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3They got the MurciƩlago LP640 wrong, its top speed is at least 217.
- frazw, on 11/30/2008, -3/+6not gonna click through ten pages for something that should be one.
- swern425, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3They're only "down" if you consider $2 a gallon to be cheap. By raising the price to $4 on average, oil companies make the public think $2 is inexpensive when in reality they're still making record profits.
That's not to say that I'm not enjoying it being at $2--I drive a fairly fuel efficient car and live 5 miles from work. - Vladamir, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3The article is "10 of the World's Fastest Cars", not "The 10 Fastest Cars in the World". Relax guys.
- pstroll, on 11/30/2008, -0/+2That's not saying much
- rezx, on 11/30/2008, -0/+2i agree 100%..the wallets that can support these luxuries - can support fuel even at $200/barrel.
- Fanrir, on 11/30/2008, -0/+205.01.08, 6:00 EST
- Evilblobs, on 11/30/2008, -0/+2Gas Prices are down FFS.
Saying they're up is practically a fad now. Stop looking for consolation in your hybrid car, or looking for doom in your life. - eloestea, on 11/30/2008, -0/+2yes, american version or not
the skyline > - cowsgonemadd3, on 11/30/2008, -0/+2They are bad donkeys?
- saikyan, on 11/30/2008, -0/+2Typical under-researched Forbes list. I think you make a ton of very valid points. Not sure why you're being dugg down...
I was surprised to realize they still make the SLR. Talk about yesterday's news. That car is a turkey.
The RUF might be absent due to confusion over weather or not it's a production car or a highly-tuned Porsche. Or they forgot about it, which is entirely possible too.
The Atom doesn't really count as a car, but the Ultima GTR should definitely be on there, that's a pretty significant omission.
Carrera GT isn't in production anymore. - eloestea, on 11/30/2008, -0/+2and thanks to Gran Turismo for making it possible for me to "drive" most of these cars.
- barnski, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1Where are my Top Trumps?
- aerospacemonkey, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1McLaren F1 isn't produced anymore. Fail.
- psykiv, on 11/30/2008, -0/+1How about the Brabus Rocket? 730HP. Max Speed of 227 MPH, 0-60 in 4 Seconds.
Did I mention its a sedan? - smartassCanuck, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1Well to be fair the F1's been out of production for 10 years now. Although it is still one of the craziest supercars ever built most of the wild cars on here can likely outperform it on the track (the zonda, koenigsegg, Ascari)
- mrzeero, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1Mine only goes 203 but that is fast enough for me.
- SPRFRKR, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1Jay Leno says the SLR has the highest miles of any of his supercars due to its drivability.
- fmaxwell, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1The link that I put up shows the car's price. That was the purpose of putting the link there. It also includes more detail about the available engines and options.
Heres an earlier Forbes article which discusses the additional info shown above:

Here's the contact info for the manufacturer:

They may be great cars, but the information on the company is beyond scarce. Reviews are basically not existent. I've found no web site for the company. It would make me damned nervous to cough up $175K for a company that has so little visibility. - savagesteve13, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't call anything by McLaren a street vehicle, since you need to wear hearing protection just to drive one.
