- atlasdugged, on 03/29/2009, -1/+31apparently this author has never been to Boston
- shadowspawn, on 03/29/2009, -1/+22I-35 through Texas. Someone dies on it every day.
- randypanda, on 03/30/2009, -4/+18I can already tell all the comments are gonna be similar to this:
WTF?!?!?! WHERE THE ***** IS (insert highway) THIS LIST IS ***** STUPID. - wickensworth, on 03/30/2009, -1/+15My least favorite is the Information Superhighway
- lofispy, on 03/30/2009, -0/+12I just traveled I-10 from Tallahassee, FL to Kerrville, TX last week. The stretch through Louisiana isn't nearly bad now as it was year ago, that is, if you ignore the fact that you spend like some hour overall traveling above something you could barely call land just thinking about how much it would suck if for whatever reason something send you over the like 2 ft. tall guardrails into the endless expanse of swamp just waiting to swallow your car and turn you into alligator food. Or maybe I just have too active an imagination while driving...
- vsujohn2, on 03/30/2009, -0/+9Damn tubes are always clogged!
- jasdf, on 03/30/2009, -0/+8facts: 169,278 hours and 120,127 gallons of gas are wasted by Americans in traffic each year...
This seems very, very low. - hellahyphy, on 03/30/2009, -0/+8The 10 / 605 interchange in Los Angeles is a death trap. The guy who designed that interchange needs to throw in his pencil and become a butcher.
- richmessenger, on 03/29/2009, -0/+7I live in San Diego, used to live in Atlanta, used to take I-95 to get to my mom's house in Massachusetts and frequently drive to Las Vegas. I guess I had my fair share of ***** roads. Atlasdugged brought up a good point, this list is missing the entire state of Massachusetts though.
- Mardala, on 03/30/2009, -1/+8FTA: "than at the juncture of the 101 and 405 freeways in Los Angeles, which link the east side of the city with the downtown area. " ... I think they are reading the map upside down. Last time I checked the 405 is not on the east side.
The 405 is definitely one of the worst I've ever been on. - DarwinBC, on 03/29/2009, -2/+9I was thinking the same thing. 128 Is a ton of fun to drive on with the Massholes
- DirectorSG, on 03/29/2009, -1/+8The Cross Bronx Expressway? It's bad, but the author should've driven east a bit. Between the constant construction on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and the lead-footed a**holes that drive on the Long Island Expressway, it's hands down the worst driving experience in the NYC/Metro Area.
- Grova, on 03/29/2009, -0/+7Apparently the author has never been on the beltway around D.C. either.
- Ajajadude, on 03/30/2009, -0/+6I grew up in the Boston area, learned to drive all over that part of the state, and none of it compares to the 101-405 interchange. What makes it worse is that it seems very few people in Southern California seem to know how to drive...
- iNoles, on 03/30/2009, -0/+6I-4 in Orlando is worse during night time. Last time, I was on that interstate during night time, I end up waiting for 2 hours to be in Kissimmee.
- cstathis15, on 03/30/2009, -0/+5What about the 95-91 interchange in New Haven? ***** is always backed up 3 miles.
- kookykyle, on 03/30/2009, -1/+6yeah ouray to silverton whoot whoot
- T8erT0T, on 03/30/2009, -0/+5I can tolerate life on the L.I.E, the Cross-Bronx is a pretty accurate representation of what hell must be like though. Every thought I have on that stretch of road can be linked to a homicidal fantasy.
- Shadic, on 03/30/2009, -1/+5Relevant xkcd:
http://xkcd.com/253/ - vmwhelan, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4What about Roosevelt Blvd in Philadelphia? #2 and #3 deadliest intersections in the country are right next to each other on the Blvd.
- theSAMOL, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4I hear that quite a bit, that people from "X" location are horrible drivers. I think it's just people in general aren't too great at driving.
That said, I have nightmares about the 405-101 interchange. ***** that place. It should not take me 30 minutes to move 50 feet. It's like a huge parking lot. - zakatov, on 03/30/2009, -1/+5You're obviously not from 'round here, so let me explain. When the title says "10 Worst Roads in AMERICA", it means the list is going to talk about roads in AMERICA, nothing more, nothing less.
- Ajajadude, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4Massholes know how to drive. They just choose to drive ***** crazy. I'll take crazy over stupidity any day of the year.
And, if it's raining out here, all bets are off. You're better off calling in sick and not leaving the house. People unable to drive in the rain coupled with the most god-awful freeway/road designs that actually trap water on the roadways results in nothing less than epic failure... - KibblesnBitts, on 03/30/2009, -1/+5Buried for no New Jersey Turnpike/Garden State Parkway interchange. Going there during rush hour is horrendous.
- lepetitmousse, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4As a mainer, the biggest danger on route 1 is drunk drivers and logging trucks, not moose. I was actually really suprised that maine had a road mentioned on this list. It seems like every road in massachusetts is more dangerous than anything we have here.
- FrostySol, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3especially if it's raining.
- brsteve88, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3You poor bastard. Starting as a Boston driver and then having to deal with California drivers all the time must be maddening. As a fellow Boston driver, I sympathize.
- OptimusDime, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3dugg for quoting outkast on the section about spaghetti junction
- wilf_brim, on 03/29/2009, -1/+4LA has it's share of poor roads, but just pick any major artery from Washington DC north. They all suck ass. Insufficient capacity, ***** design, worse signage. It may be slow to get to a place in SoCal, at least you will get there. Good luck in anywhere in NY or MA.
- G-RaZoR, on 03/29/2009, -4/+7Pretty much every road in Michigan. Man, I hate going there.
- Wareznuke, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3They've recently corrected the Providence I-195 to I-95 intersect problem by adding about a mile of 4 lane highway. The I-195 curves in Providence have always been a nightmare. The jersey barriers look like rainbows with all the car paint.
- letdowntourist, on 03/30/2009, -2/+5I don't understand how the entire Dallas Fort Worth highway system isn't on here. The 635 / 75 interchange is the worst. Good luck ever evacuating this metroplex.
- randypanda, on 03/30/2009, -1/+4I will follow you to the ends of the earth my liege.
- turion64, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3I've taken the I-5 and 405 my fair share of times, I'd have to agree that it's less than fun driving on them during peak hours, especially if there's construction on one lane, it ends up backing up the entire freeway for miles.
- Lewie, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3Seriously, how is Michigan not on this list. As a Michigan native, I can vouch that our roads suck ass (as does our economy: first state to 12% unemployement woo!).
- woofers07, on 03/30/2009, -1/+4Obviously this author's never been to (insert road you commute to work on here).
- Suits, on 03/30/2009, -1/+4Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads.
- firesights, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3My top 3:
1. LA, any one of the main areas of the city.
2. Atlanta. Holy crap the roads there make no sense, and suck horribly. The average person's driving ability is just frightening.
3. Michigan. It's really not their fault, the constant frost wedging makes it impossible for them to keep any roads in reliable shape. Still, it's AWFUL. - asgardshill, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3Try moving faster than a snail's pace on 183/121 in the midcities. If the balloon ever does go up in the Metromess, about 1/4 of the population will be stuck in their cars on Airport Freeway.
- varble, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3so he can bore them open.
- firesights, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3I don't understand why you're being dugg down. Michigan roads may not be as heavily trafficked, but I have never seen major highways with potholes that I could actually HIDE in before.
Then I went to Michigan. It's scary to even drive on the roads there. - NiftyG, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3FTA -- "Nowhere in the nation (except parking lots) do cars spend so much time bumper-to-bumper than at the juncture of the 101 and 405 freeways in Los Angeles, which link the east side of the city with the downtown area"
Actually, it is nowhere near downtown LA or the east side of the city. It links the San Fernando Valley with Westwood and Santa Monica - zakatov, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2Until one of them hits something/someone and then it's back to everyone going slow... everyone needs to know how to drive properly in order for this to work.
PS. I'm one of "them" when I'm late for school, so don't think I said that because I drive too slow - d1sturbdapeace, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2GSP & I-280 interchange by Newark is the absolute worst.
- inactive, on 03/30/2009, -1/+3oh the DC beltway, Classic. It's a circle, yet labeled North and South
- Osiriscky3, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2try stopping in the rest stop on I-10 in the middle of the atchafalaya swamp at 3 in the morning. Interesting stuff
- KevinMalone, on 03/30/2009, -1/+3Obviously these people have never been to Scranton. Bad roads
- mlvassallo, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2Bless your heart for having to go to Kerrville. Go Fighting Tivy Antlers... :/
- BlackholeStorm, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2As a Rhode Island driver, I have to say that interchange in Providence is pretty scary to drive on. The merging lanes make absolutely no sense and seem to come out of nowhere.
- ddogfilm, on 03/29/2009, -1/+3this being only ten id say its a good list
