- deepak1uw, on 09/04/2009, -0/+15Visiting a dealer is now your last step instead of your first.
- inactive, on 09/05/2009, -0/+10This article lacks in the everything department. Why do terrible articles like this appear on the front page of Digg?
- Qinella, on 09/05/2009, -0/+8If you're looking for value, a Volkswagen is the wrong direction to go in. Cool cars, but the repairs can be insanely expensive.
Oh, you can't fix it here? I have to take it to the dealer? Eighty-five bucks an hour for labor, minimum three-hour repairs? Great! - Egg333, on 09/05/2009, -0/+6I know your pain. I love my Jetta but 600 bucks for a new throttle body? :(
- MMusick, on 09/04/2009, -0/+5Didn't expect to see Lexus on the list.
- linagee, on 09/05/2009, -1/+5Why get an 05 Civic when you can get an 01 Civic and have the same car at a cheaper price?
- Cainxinth, on 09/05/2009, -0/+4Because you touch yourself at night.
- ZoomBoy, on 09/05/2009, -0/+3The MK4's had to have been the worst and most unreliable VW's ever produced.
- inactive, on 09/05/2009, -0/+3We were wondering why the plural, bro?
- benroy, on 09/05/2009, -0/+3I'll stick with my rickshaw. Although it is kind of a bitch having to drag that thing with me wherever I go.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 09/04/2009, -0/+3We have never went to a dealer first. Usually car lots have the highest prices. Buying from the paper or looking through the selection on say cars.com and similar sites(which has dealers and individuals) is a good place to start looking.
You may find dealers online but that is fine if their prices are cheap. - inactive, on 09/05/2009, -0/+3Fix Or Repair Dat *****?
- Voide, on 09/05/2009, -0/+2Dealers really aren't hard to deal with....even the worst of them will stop cramming ***** down your throat if you display even a basic amount of automotive understanding. Use NADA and/or Kelly Blue Book prices to determine the price you're willing to pay for a vehicle that you want. Don't expect to pay hundreds under book, but you shouldn't have to pay over UNLESS you're buying a vehicle in high demand (Prius's were going way above book value last summer). Ask to have the vehicle inspected by your own mechanic (Yes, you can and SHOULD do this) and if they refuse, then walk away...they might be hiding something. Remember that SOME (emphasis on "some") dealers mark vehicles up just to mark them down. Big dealers are more often then not guilty of this practice. Keep this in mind....don't look for a "deal", look for a genuinely great price (based on what similar vehicles are going for).
Just a tip, I've known lots of small dealers that have been excellent and honest people to work with...not all car dealers are slime. Keep an eye out for well taken care of vehicles and property. Most honest dealers invest a considerable amount of time into their work. - smrekar, on 09/06/2009, -0/+2TL was sweet. G35 is not bad for sedan. all else = boring.
- redfred18t, on 09/05/2009, -0/+2I think LS430's have such a fresh look
- bakedkg, on 09/05/2009, -0/+2No photos?
- MacEnvy, on 09/05/2009, -0/+2I have. There are Escape Hybrids everywhere around here (metro DC). The only cars I see more often are Priuses (Prii?) and Mercedes C-class
Hell, even Obama drives a Ford Escape Hybrid. - gunit99, on 09/05/2009, -0/+2This multiple mini page article ***** ***** needs to ***** stop. You have 10 little meaningless items you want me to look at? Great. Put it on one ***** goddamn page.
I demand the right to waste my time efficiently, you *****! - bringitontimx, on 09/05/2009, -1/+2I haven't seen a new Fords on the streets at all.
- MokaPot, on 09/05/2009, -1/+2American commuters got fugly cars.
And who's buying sedan anymore? the 80's have ended.
Sorry about that, but car's esthetic is important to me :) - philbutler, on 09/05/2009, -0/+1Now that was a comment folks. Is value based on dollars and cents only?
- Moralogic, on 09/06/2009, -0/+1I was in a hurry, and needing to get out the door.
- EdgarG8, on 09/05/2009, -0/+1I agree. The Lexus however doesn't seem that bad. Also if the G35 sedan was replaced with the coupe the list would've been a little less boring.
- wassim2k, on 09/06/2009, -0/+1Tip #6: Learn spelling and grammar.
- Moralogic, on 09/05/2009, -1/+2Tip #1: Don't buy at CarMax, their cars are priced the same as everyone else, and their inspection means almost nothing. The only difference is that at a normal car dealership you can negotiate the price, but not at CarMax.
Tip #2: Any car you see, you can at least knock 10% off of the price, and sometimes up to 20%.
Tip #3: Force the mother ***** to till up the gas tank before you buy the car. (Some of these bastards will actually try to save money buy making sure it has hardly no gas in the car.)
Tip #4: Start Negotiations Online, especially if you are a female. (If you are a female, act like you are a guy, and you will get better results.)
Tip #5: Emunds.com - You can normally buy a new car for $500 over invoice with no problem at all. You can actually get a car for $500 under invoice if you know how the business works and how to negotiate really well. (They actually get the cars for less than invoice, it is something to try to guarantee them some profit, even selling at invoice.) - inactive, on 09/05/2009, -0/+1None of these qualify on my pussy magnet for clunker list.

What????!?!!? - bringitontimx, on 09/05/2009, -0/+1That's true. (metro DC as well)
I was thinking more along the lines of their sedans. 500s and whatnot.. they're not like the Taurus was in the 90s. - smrekar, on 09/06/2009, -0/+1i see new mustangs all day long. new tail-lights is telltale sign of new ones.
- riptor666, on 09/05/2009, -0/+1Dugg for Infiniti G35 it's so comfortable definitely an awesome car for a guy in his 20's who wants performance but also luxury and practicality. Especially when it's more comfortable then a BMW 745 or just about any other car I've driven. They should include the Cadillac CTS though that's another great car that is very undervalued and is rather nice at about 12-14k for the average used one.
- inactive, on 09/05/2009, -1/+1Jesus christ. These seem like the cars to NEVER EVER buy new. They drop in value dramatically. Wow.
- nitrojunky24, on 09/05/2009, -1/+1these are some truelly boring cars the only thing that peaks my interest is the acura tl other wise no not really
- DerangedPenguin, on 09/05/2009, -2/+2At 70 MPH the Corvette gets better gas mileage than the Pirus II series. Not to mention the getting laid factor is probably higher for a Corvette than a Prius unless you like women who only shave their heads.
Kind of like my Mini for day to day traffic, however my 1965 MGB always brings a smile as long as I have my tool box under the hood and don't mind spending a few minutes under the bonnet. My 1969 Z-28 makes me wish for the days of $0.25 per gallon gasoline. - goodvinboy, on 09/05/2009, -0/+0I expected somewhat cheaper cars...
- linagee, on 09/05/2009, -2/+2Maybe they are busy getting fixed or repaired? (Daily?)
- GorecOverYears, on 09/05/2009, -3/+2I'm sorry, but a 2005 Lexus for $56,875 sonds a bit ridiculous under "best value" title.
"Certified vehicle" sonds good, but the prices don't.
Many consumers cannot even make use of cash-for-clunker program. Getting into new debts? No, thanks.
Do some homework, read what you should know about used car problems and beware of at http://vinnumbercheck.net
call to private sellers and dealerships, negotiate the price. Buying from a private owner can save you $1,000-$2,000.
Inspect the car yourself, then ask a trusted mechanic to inspect it, negotiate the price again. That's the way to best value deals. - Grinning, on 09/05/2009, -1/+0some should certainly be on "worst value" list
- gvoakes, on 09/04/2009, -2/+1The 2005 Lexus LS 430 doesn't look half bad
- MacGyver2210, on 09/05/2009, -7/+5Buried for *****. A used price over $10,000 is not 'Good'. Try craigslist or a newspaper if you want a used car. If you want to overpay for a (probably broken) slightly used car, go to a dealership.
- STPZ, on 09/05/2009, -3/+1dugg for doing the separate page slide show thing right
- sszhao11, on 09/05/2009, -4/+1why the $^*&&% pontiac vibe is good value? Buried
- newl, on 09/05/2009, -4/+1The summary should have made mention that these vehicles are North American based to save those of us who do not (or no longer) live there from reading it.
