- phillyjo, on 04/30/2009, -3/+35Im sorry 10 Supercars?
Maby the McLaren, Jaguar and Lamborghini.
The rest are just average boring ass cars: Honda S200, Nissan 350z, Ford etc... - offrdbandit, on 04/30/2009, -0/+16Something tells me, Lamborghini owners aren't looking at crash test ratings when they purchase their cars.
- atgmac, on 04/30/2009, -1/+11Yeah, saving lives is a complete waste of money. Car companies should be spending their cash on yachts and blowjobs instead.
- MojoJonJon, on 04/30/2009, -0/+8So it seems i own a supercar now... that wasnt so hard.
- RumpleForeskin3, on 04/30/2009, -0/+7Dugg for yachts and blowjobs. Very similar to boats and hoes.
- grantmoore3d, on 04/30/2009, -0/+6I like how the Lamborghini Diablo was just re-used for the various tests.
- BigPapi, on 04/30/2009, -1/+7"Definitely better than anything I will."
What the hell do you drive? A Yugo? - AmazingA, on 04/30/2009, -0/+3Not the McLaren!
- matdigger, on 04/30/2009, -0/+3Good to see that all of the cars regardless of the price get tested like this.
Sad too see so many good cars crushed.... - jnc2134, on 04/30/2009, -0/+3The Porsche looked like a beetle after impact.
- anexanhume, on 04/30/2009, -0/+3The thing is, that's generally not what you want. We can't know for sure without knowing the sensor readouts of the dummies, but typically, you want the car to look screwed (except for the cabin). That means it took all the force and dissipated it rather than transferring it to the occupants.
- MattDell, on 04/30/2009, -2/+4How is the Ford RS200 not a supecar?
It was a purpose-built Group B rally car and was only made into production to meet with FIA homologation rules and only 200 were made. 0-60 in 2.6seconds.
Read up, son: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_RS200 - sunsetprojects, on 04/30/2009, -2/+410 Supercars? I only see five get your facts straight.
- MacBandit, on 04/30/2009, -0/+2As far as I know if you want to sell a 4 wheeled vehicle for road use in the USA it has to meet crash safety standards. You will notice there are a lot of 3 wheeled small cars being developed just to get around this requirement.
- babylonian, on 04/30/2009, -0/+2god this makes me wanna play some Burnout.
- frontaxle, on 04/30/2009, -1/+2Someone else's money wasted = Dugg
- RadicalEdward, on 04/30/2009, -1/+2porsche's look like beetles before impacts too.
- alasdairmacl, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Makes me cringe to see the jag getting smashed, such a shame to smash that lovely car
- bundwallah, on 04/30/2009, -1/+2The Lambo really took a beating, front, back and side impact in succession. I was really impressed with the McLaren F1 test. It held together very well.
- BigPapi, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1I would assume that when you're pushing the McLaren to 200mph, you're not worried about safety. They might as well crash test Evil Knievel's bike while they're at it.
- ZionicIon, on 04/30/2009, -2/+3Ok, cars 10-5 don't count as anything remotely close to "Super" cars.
- theworldisflat, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1The massive head/neck trauma in the XJ220 was scary. The McLaren did amazing though -- I remember their original rating of 15mph head-on collision with zero structural damage claim.
- TheAutoInsider, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1Impressive crashes.
- smemily, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Exactly. The car needs to crumple enough to absorb the impact of the crash while protecting survival space around the occupant. It's the reason stunt men fall onto cardboard boxes and not steel boxes.
- greenlightison, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Do really small car manufactures have to do this (I don't mean small cars! tho would be lol if they did this with kid's cars), or is it only required if the car is going to sell over so many units. What about morgans, jensons, nobles etc, it would be so expensive for small car companies to do this but I'd love/hate to see it.
- algorythm, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Wanna see something impressive? Check out the motorcycle crash tests on youtube. It's amazing people still ride these...
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_ ... - rwert, on 04/29/2009, -1/+2I love seeing expensive things breaking. It's kind of a deep-seated populist thing, ya know?
- jambus572, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1... you're right, 2.6 seconds....oh, no, wait...
"It doesn't have to be a looker."
"because it's fast".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_Quattro_S1#S1
That's also a supercar then right? - MacBandit, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1It's amazing people still get in a bathtub since it's more dangerous than the motorcycles.
- sunsetprojects, on 05/11/2009, -0/+1I did read it. Try looking up what a super car is some time.
- MacBandit, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Did you read the article? The title may say Supercars but the article says Sports cars and Supercars.
- MattDell, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Nice. Glad to see how my S2000 holds up.
...now as long as I don't go head on with a pickup. :-\ - 80hd, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1What was with the music during that clip lol
- kevinsboy, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Quit thinking with your dip stick!
- MattDell, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1I'll agree with you except the RS200. It's definitely a supercar...
- walgman, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Means ***** all without the speeds. How can you tell how fast they are going.
- Demos27, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1I was expecting Enzos, Porsche 911s, etc...
- AgentMull, on 05/02/2009, -0/+180hd, it was The Shins - New Slang. Good song.
- MattDell, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Um, because it's fast is basically why it's a supercar. It doesn't have to be a looker.
A supercar is generally fast, expensive, and rare. Don't discount it because it's a Ford. The Ford GT40 isn't a supercar, then?
Read up, son:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercar
And also...
Ford RS200
Acceleration from rest:
True mph Time (sec)
30 1.2
40 1.8
50 2.2
60 2.8
70 3.8
80 4.8
90 5.9
100 7.3
110 8.7 - juggle, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1I don't trust those government crash tests. They don't mimick the real world very well. A lot of those exotic cars crash at incredible speeds. http://www.wreckedexotics.com shows what exotics look like after real crashes.
- MacBandit, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1Ever heard of reading? The title says Supercar but the article clearly says Sports cars and Supercars.
- MacBandit, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1Read the article.
- inactive, on 04/30/2009, -1/+17 of those aren't even super
- racoonX, on 04/30/2009, -0/+0Let me clear some things up.
First to phillyjo - I do see your point about them not being super cars and I was wrong to assume that your probably not going to ever get a car like a Nissan 350z, I mean ***** for all I know you could be a millionaire and actually own a Lambo. Back to your point though, sure there not Supercars but they are definitely a lot faster and generally more expensive than the average car out there and they are (by my standards) no means "average boring ass cars".
In response to BigPapi - I drive a 2008 Mitsubishi lancer, its faster than I need (I think its 152 horse power), does pretty decent gas mileage and I feel it looks pretty sharp too. I wouldn't call it the most exciting car but it is certainly better than a lot that is out there. I have a decent job that pays around 60k a year (I would say that is above average) and I would say I would be hard pressed to afford a car that is faster than the lancer that is in the same price range and is still practical.
Anyways I am on Oxycontin after having surgery on my tailbone so hopefully this makes sense and that I don't regret writing this one later. Sorry to anyone I offended. - AgentMull, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1Dugg for the Shins over the Boxster.
- ctour95, on 04/30/2009, -2/+2I had to bury this based solely on calling the S2000 and Nissan Z supercars.
- bob501337, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1the boxter is just as respectable as a beetle
- shrbr, on 04/30/2009, -1/+1I swear i readed 10 best superBAR crash test. :<
- anenokoji, on 04/30/2009, -2/+1The corvette is not a supercar. Among the honda, porsche, mercedes and nissan and rs200
