- amheidt, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2I like the picture of the girls in their dorms at the University of Chicago. I go there and it's funny to see people from 70 years ago going about their lives in the same place as I go about mine.
We also still have the "newcomer's parties" in September to introduce first years to the parties of UChicago, although now they mainly consist of raunchy drinks and sex in frats that are equally sketchy. - archer104, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2I know girls with those names who are way younger than 50. I even know a girl named Agatha. I have yet to meet a Prudence though.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2008-10/ ... - ccelo, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1yeah i understand what you said. actually, all these stereotypes that you mention somehow still apply (not literally), there are a lot of xenophobia and things that maybe will never cease to exist, they just change form.
And as today information roll over everywhere people tend to live many more stereotypes than before.
I don't know about USA, but here in Brazil for example. My parents, when they were my age, they used to play in the streets, swim in rivers, stay all night long in a park playing the guitar, tripping to beautiful places that look like paradise.
Today, kids don't go out of their houses to do that, for luck, I have parents that did that back then, and they show me the real meaning about it. But in the other hand, I have many friends that stay put inside the house, just in the internet, not learning about the world. And man, there are beautiful places out there.
So when I talk about stereotypes, is more like a way of life, it looks they were outside of the box...
If you have time, read about Vinicius de Moraes, one of the best song-writters and poet of all times. And he lived in the dictatorship years, and still he was a hero for everyone.
Well! hahaha that's it! - sugablonde, on 10/31/2008, -2/+3just found a mushroom almost the size of a basketball the other day....it was gross
