- theNazz, on 10/27/2009, -1/+50"Janik has been suspended with pay, pending a formal suspension hearing."
Great, keep paying this low-IQ cop while he gets his ***** head examined. The chainsaw had no chain... what a ***** pussy that cop is. - roebeet, on 10/27/2009, -0/+40This is truly scary stuff. Does this cop know the difference between fantasy and reality? It was a freaking haunted house which he voluntarily went to.
A cop this jumpy needs to have his weapon taken away, permanently. - rmxz, on 10/27/2009, -1/+31This whole concept of "suspended with pay" seems odd.
Why not charge him with assault like anyone else who pulled a gun on a haunted house worker?
If your employer had a policy of suspending you *with pay* anytime you pulled a stunt like this, do you think it would it be an effective deterrent? - inactive, on 10/27/2009, -0/+22I got scared by the chainsaw guy at a haunted house when I was a little kid. The damn thing was real! I didn't know anything about chainsaws. I just knew to GTFO of there. I was just thinking about it a few minutes ago, and when I open Digg.. whoomp! There it is!
Spooky *****.
Anyway, this cop is a ***** moron and should not be allowed anywhere near a firearm. - charlietuna, on 10/27/2009, -2/+18Cops act like cops. Often the same psychological profile as a school bully. I see them at the shooting range all the time. Twenty percent of them are fun guys. The balance are like this guy.
- HeDiggMe, on 10/27/2009, -0/+16Upon further searching it was at House of Scares in Essex. Also the cop had his 9 yr old daughter with him while he smelled of alcohol and drew his weapon. wtf
- DrowSwordsman, on 10/27/2009, -0/+13Off duty cops should NOT be allowed to have guns on them if they're drinking, and be punished if they do. Bar none.
- inactive, on 10/27/2009, -0/+13Ever tried to chop down a tree with a chainsaw that has no chain?
- charlietuna, on 10/27/2009, -0/+12The chain /is/ the saw.
- nmoulana, on 10/27/2009, -0/+10also his vas deferens.
- dnaspydir, on 10/27/2009, -1/+9A chainsaw without a chain is not still a saw.
- HeDiggMe, on 10/27/2009, -0/+8Wondering if this was at Bennett's Curse?
- segarch, on 10/27/2009, -0/+8Well at least he was suspended with pay.
Isn't that called vacation? - BigVi, on 10/27/2009, -0/+8Sounds like he wasnt suspended for the gun drawing as much as the fact he was drunk when he drew his gone (while on duty).
- Krakerjax, on 10/27/2009, -1/+8A chainsaw without a chain is a very loud club.
- Hammertym3, on 10/27/2009, -0/+7Remind me never to tap on a cop's shoulder.
- lukedinan, on 10/27/2009, -1/+8his small penis felt challenged by the large chainsaw. compensate IMMEDIATELY!
- Chompy, on 10/27/2009, -0/+7Whoa, that's deep.
- Paranor01, on 10/27/2009, -0/+7If he was that jumpy at an obviously fake horror scene, voluntarily I might add, then he needs some nerve pills or a good bag of Cannabis to relax his ass.
Kid whips out a toy gun and says "reach for the sky" on the street, it'll be the last thing the kid says with this guy around.
Time for a new job for him. - mjsilva, on 10/27/2009, -0/+6Oh! Hollywood what you do to people....
- Ghostwo, on 10/27/2009, -1/+7Simply touching an officer is battery.
- zoomaKabu, on 10/27/2009, -0/+5That sounds about right 20% OK guys, 80% low IQ, low self esteem.
- demonicume, on 10/27/2009, -2/+7why would he carry a loaded weapon into a place designed to scare him? Scare cops shoot people (mostly colored folks, but you occasionally hear about the dangerous white grandmother being tased into cardiac arrest, too). He should be suspended for being stupid. Though I hear that an abundance of Stupidity is a standard for promotion.
- KrustySr, on 10/27/2009, -0/+5For those of you that have never been to one of these places (perhaps the officer hadn't), as soon as you step out of your car in the parking lot you are fair game. Let's face it, that's what your there for, to get scared. If you don't want to be scared then don't go. It's not Disneyland after all.
- AngryAngryBrian, on 10/27/2009, -0/+5Well at least they are looking to charge him. I have my CCW permit and if I drew on a guy who wasn't a threat they would take my permit and my handgun away (if not all of my firearms). Do not draw your weapon unless you intend to use it. I am just glad he didn't fire.
- segarch, on 10/27/2009, -0/+4Also Vice President.
- falconear, on 10/27/2009, -0/+4OK, it sounds like a lot of you haven't been to a haunted house in quite a while. Here's how it works: as soon as you get out of your car you should be ready for surprises. The "ghouls" will run around the parking lot, get you in line, and sometimes follow you out of the exit after you're done. It's their job! If somebody pulls a "chainsaw" on you right after you leave do you think maybe it's part of the act? Hmmm...
Maybe idiot cops shouldn't take firearms to a place where people jump out and surprise you. Especially with his daughter there. Especially when he's been drinking. - basickly, on 10/27/2009, -0/+4Eh, I don't know how far I trust some random carny with my safety.
Even if I know it's prank I still wouldn't want him near me with a real goddamn chainsaw, chainless or not, or fire blanks at me if I watched him disassemble his gun and put in the blanks myself.
But then I won't go on rides at the local fair for that reason either.
Those are some extremely rusty joints, and those are some aloof and uncaring attendants... - ChocChunkOaties, on 10/27/2009, -1/+4Reminds me of that halloween prank in Reno 911 when the cop pretending to be dead gets up off the autopsy table and gets shot. Never scare a police officer!!
- Iceman21, on 10/27/2009, -0/+3I am more concerned with why he took a loaded gun to a fairground.
- FuckRepublicans, on 10/27/2009, -0/+3C'mon Bennett, let off some steam.
- ygeoff419, on 10/27/2009, -1/+4Please punch yourself in the penis for using "rtard".
- newes, on 10/27/2009, -0/+3So what do you think they do in haunted houses? If you go into a haunted house and don't expect a chainsaw weilding maniac to be there then you have issues.
- newes, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2Wow you're dumb.
- InternetTuffGuy, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2found another article that says he was suspended without pay. Now I don't know what to believe.
http://www.wbaltv.com/news/21430106/detail.html - Krakerjax, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2Basickly, while that might be true, lets look at the cop for moment shall we?
He went to a haunted house. Somewhere you KNOW people will try to scare you.
He was drunk in public, something police arrest other people for.
He had a gun. At a public place, where there are going to be children, while he was drunk. He then proceeded to pull out that gun because his little ass got scared. That is poor judgement on his part, regardless of the actors poor judgement to use a chainsaw. The thing is, poor judgement on an actor is his career, thats it. Poor judgement on a cop could be someone's life.
On an interesting note, you know that natural reaction you have of jumping back? Try not to suppress it. Jumping back has the advantage of distancing you between you and your opponent, giving you vital moments to react. - Nerys, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2Ahh TERRIFYING people is the entire god damned POINT of this kind of thing you moron.
a prank is me sneaking up to your house with a sawless chainsaw and terrifying you.
HE PAID TO GO HERE FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF BEING TERRIFIED - catxors, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2FTA, he was drunk. And carrying a weapon. If I wrote the regs for cops, that'd be a firing offense, no questions asked. But there is a long tradition of making it hard to fire government employees. I believe it started as a way to protect against corrupt managers, and has since evolved into excellent protection *for* corrupt and/or incompetent employees.
- charlietuna, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2True, the twenty percent should get with the program.
- uglyteradon, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2It's the only job in America where pulling a gun out on somebody gives you a mini-vacation.
Or is it? - basickly, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2*Paranor01 calmly smokes a joint as the chain tears through his sternum*
- uglyteradon, on 10/27/2009, -1/+3Keep telling yourself that, Joe.
- rakanishu, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1bad behavior on both ends, but who cares, lets take this opportunity to bash on cops, carnies, america, religion, atheists, etc...
- 5celery, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1or the surprise party on Reno - - "Surprise!" Blam Blam Blam Blam
- Nerys, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1then don't go there. HOW HARD IS THAT?
- OpaqueMurdock, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1How much more plainly do I have to say that I didn't agree with the cops reported actions? I was merely stating that I have EXPERIENCED workers at these places getting out of hand... does that somehow put me on the side of the cop if it went down the way it was reported? Hell no, and you have no business accusing me of siding with him. I don't know the FACTS... and neither do you as delivered in this blurb with next to no details.
Since you attacked me personally, I decided to find the details lacking in this linked piece. Hey guess what! There is more to the story! (And no I still don't think he should have ever pulled his gun... but then I have said that all along)
From MSNBC:
"When the group exited into a parking lot, Janik pulled his gun and pointed it at Morrison from less than 10 feet away,"
So they were in the parking lot and his daughter is 9 years old.
"Morrison said Janik's daughter appeared to be disturbed by his act, in which he pretends to cut one woman in half and disembowel another with the chain saw."
Yikes, questionable parenting I would say, taking your 9 year old to that place.
"A security guard had been following Janik's group, which included his 9-year-old daughter, through the haunted house because Janik appeared to be drunk when he arrived, House of Screams owner Tony Sapanero said."
So yeah, as far as the co-workers of the chainsaw guy claim... The cop was drunk... with a gun at a place where people jump out at you... bad idea. Assuming of corse you believe them. They could be covering for Morrison.
I know that haunted house people will use the grounds around a place to frighten people but jumping out at someone in a parking lot when they have their kid with them is ALSO a bad idea.
Yes, the haunted house is SUPPOSED to be scary but its also supposed to be safe. They aren't supposed to make you think you are getting car-jacked.
Let me say this one more time... If this guy pulled his gun at and pointed it at the guy and did not identify himself... no contest. he should not allowed to remain a cop. I do not think pointing guns at people is cool especially since I myself have been shot.
See you in hell. heh. - ChileanGoD, on 11/01/2009, -0/+1I totally agree. He shouldn't have gun possession in the first place.
- falconear, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Is that anything like the medium is the message?
- 5celery, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1How has this made it past the "Pro-Shootout in Burger King" crowd that gets bussed in to Digg whenever there is an anti-gun story?
