- krails, on 06/01/2009, -1/+24They could have at least tried a bit harder in the article.
This was at Maker Faire. It's made from 2L bottles, not 1L, and cables make each vertical section of bottles move up and down. Here's a better image of it: http://twitpic.com/6duwg
And here's a video: http://www.flickr.com/photos/annarama/3579958756/ - fury420, on 05/31/2009, -1/+19"...had strung together a 20-feet tall installed created out of..."
what exactly IS it? unfortunately the typos completely obliterate any sense of what he actually MADE out of these soda bottles. - bpwrinn, on 06/01/2009, -0/+15It'd be nice if the article had better pictures.
- Duffle, on 06/01/2009, -3/+15Those look like 2L bottles.
- 5humb0dy, on 05/31/2009, -5/+14I thought used soda bottles were supposed to find a new lease on life by being recycled.
- twiztidsinz, on 06/01/2009, -1/+9How the hell do you poop into a 2 liter bottle?
Wait... on second thought, don't answer that. - newaffect, on 06/01/2009, -0/+7I have visited his work-station. Pretty cool stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dehXioMIKg0 - one1plus1one, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4Wow! Thanks for all those great links.
I clicked on a bunch of them and my computer installed all kinds of nifty new programs. Several of them offered to optimize my computer if I gave over administrator rights to the program.
Things are running much slower on my computer now, and the Internet light on my modem is always blinking.
But at least I know my system is optimized properly.
One of the new programs is also called "happy 1999" generates really amazing looking fireworks on the screen. That is so cool!
Gee imagine that: had I not been to Digg and visited those websites in the comment section, my computer would never have gotten so optimized and I never would have seen those great fireworks in my brand new screensaver.
Some of the programs are also offering to show me free naked Russian women. I just can't wait to click. - whyt74, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4Wow, thank you. I was completely confused until now.
- schleufer, on 06/01/2009, -0/+3He made an installation.
I assume the sentence was supposed to read: "... had strung together a 20-foot tall installation created out of... " - rambomcfly, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Fo rizzle. That would have been a stupid idea.
- Dotcommer, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2I just watched all 10 minutes of that. Thanks for linking it. I'd digg it as well if you submitted it.
- p51d007, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3Silly & stupid.......but.....more than likely this stupid idea can apply for funding under the national endowment of the arts for thousands of dollars.
- ghatid, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Okay, I'm not a huge art guy, but this ***** is awesome...
- anotherjack, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3Don't let the description and photo fool you - In person it is utterly amazing. Whoever wrote this did not do it justice at all. Its a kinetic sculpture and there's no video? Or a sequence of photos? The only reason this crappy article is being dugg at all is that so many people saw the thing in person this weekend.
- d1sturbdepeace, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3I accidentally a whole soda bottle.
- cowman80i9, on 06/01/2009, -3/+5Aaaaaaaaaaand what is the point of this?
- Dotcommer, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3Its art, for the sake of art.
- anotherjack, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Dude, post that video on your own Digg submission - i'd digg it.
- linagee, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Reuse is a lot more environmentally friendly, actually. Recycling uses energy and has waste byproducts. (Energy waste byproducts, impurities removed and trashed, etc.)
- themastersb, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Uh oh. Someone seems to have accidentally part of the article and the part that was science flew off and landed and blowed up in a boom.
- oep4, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Heres a picture my friend took at the fair, i gave him my camera while i was representing Plug-In Supply Inc.'s booth :P:

- linagee, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1A neat way to make a radio tower? (Wifi, anyone?)
- anotherjack, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1http://www.nea.gov/grants/recent/index.html
Have fun. On this page they will be funding something really ***** artistically worthwhile and that's in your very own state. In fact they may be the sole funders of your local arts programs. They paid for every thing I ever liked on PBS - but sure, I suppose we could crap on them because sometimes they also fund art you didn't find valuable. - twodollars, on 06/01/2009, -1/+2Does anyone else see a bunch of LED alarm clock type 8's?
- edwartica, on 06/01/2009, -1/+2No kidding! that's $30.60 if you cash all those in!
- whyt74, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1Drinking too much Mountain Dew?
- rambomcfly, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1That article had the worst picture ever. I had no idea what I was looking at. The articles description didn't offer much help either. Thanks for doing further research, so I didn't have to.
- anotherjack, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1I'm not finding very good videos, but it was a really popular piece.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USH5TbZkGqw - ghatid, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1Yea, seriously, thanks. The video should have been shown. All I could see from the picture was a few bottles strung together. I was thinking, 6 months? I hope you were doing something else during that time...
- Philbert, on 06/01/2009, -3/+4That's one hell of a bong.
- Abatrour, on 06/01/2009, -1/+2Don't forget about Reduce and Reuse.
- Dotcommer, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1Uh... so what the ***** is your definition of recycle?
Because.. that looks like they're being recycled. - diggerwut, on 06/01/2009, -2/+2They looked like condoms at first glance.
- dangsta, on 06/01/2009, -2/+2i have no idea what that's supposed to be. pretty lame imho. time would be better spent recycling the plastic than building that "art"
- chamorro, on 06/01/2009, -1/+1"He and a friend visited two recycling centers in the area to get all the used bottles they wanted."
I would give him more respect if picked up the used bottles himself from streets, parks, mt. everest instead of easily heading to the nearest recycling center and requesting them. - fxu1989, on 06/01/2009, -1/+1♫ DIARRHEA DIARRHEA ♫

- Dotcommer, on 06/01/2009, -1/+1Define a job noob. Your definition may be different from an artists.
- dikky, on 06/01/2009, -3/+2used pop bottles get a new lease on life
- Generalfier1, on 06/01/2009, -1/+0I wasn't too impressed by his 2 liter bottle sculpture, but his other stuff is just simply amazing.
- musicguy, on 06/01/2009, -5/+3I saw that! It was awesome.
- p51d007, on 06/01/2009, -3/+1Or the governments!
- shrudheuie, on 06/01/2009, -6/+4somebody needs to get a job
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -4/+1Shut up dude. getting a crappy picture posted on a blog isn't comparable to getting a piece put in a modern art museum. Maybe if you put some effort into learning a thing or two, you wouldn't have to write such a dumb slam.
- poontangpirate, on 06/01/2009, -6/+3Diabetes anyone? This guy made a tuxedo out of coke cans. Forget recycling, these cans are now wearable.
