- obsessedglobe, on 10/30/2009, -1/+28That was some rather badass, synchronized, bayonet wielding.
- MCA2142, on 10/30/2009, -2/+20I believe they used to call it a dance-off.
- burrdugg, on 10/30/2009, -6/+23I think this is how the militaries of the world used to defend their country in the 1800s or so. The troops who demonstrated the most flawless choreography won the battle.
- zoomaKabu, on 10/30/2009, -0/+14knives
- NCSD, on 10/30/2009, -2/+16Screw missiles, lets do it old fashioned style with knifes and red suits
- skipvt, on 10/30/2009, -1/+11As a former Submarine sailor all I can say is... Go Navy!
- triscuitbiscuit, on 10/30/2009, -0/+10The tricks they do with the lieutenant moving between the guns is amazing. But that is also the same organization that has their pilots pass each other within mere feet of each other, so I guess it can be totally expected. I wonder how many times he's been hit in practice though!
- jotchie, on 10/30/2009, -1/+10Must have been hard to get their entire military in one building at the same time
- bigp3rm, on 10/30/2009, -0/+8God bless our men and women in uniform.
- twinklyJesus, on 10/30/2009, -2/+9Skill, trust, devotion to duty, the ability to handle your weapons flawlessly.
and yes, Marines, Army and Air Force all have various teams like this. Some even use jets... - Artic89, on 10/30/2009, -3/+10I would say the norwegians are better! Beeing norwegian and all ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gS7iq3S1ME - ugacrew, on 10/30/2009, -0/+7USMC Silent Drill Platoon FTW! I've seen them in person and they are absolutely phenomenal. I also want to give a shout out to the US Army Drill Team as well. Those mofo's are pretty badass too.
- jmcneilly, on 10/30/2009, -1/+7What gets me, is that in this day of CGI and action movies, something like this draws 'ooohs' from the crowd. These guys are impressive and got the applause they deserved.
- BookaShade, on 10/30/2009, -2/+8The USMC Silent Drill Platoon is better then them all. even the norwegians.

good catch...I need a better monitor! I watched again on a different monitor and there are only two bars. (my 20" widescreen died last week)
apology to triscuitbiscuit! - bbrassi, on 10/30/2009, -1/+5I have never, in my entire life, been prouder to be an American.
- DrDragun, on 10/30/2009, -2/+6If war was conducted in the form of breakdance battles, we would so own....
Seriously that gun throwing was amazing, now we just need some charming commentary by Mario Lopez - gethane, on 10/30/2009, -1/+5So as a clueless non-military type, I have to ask, what is the purpose of this? Do we have military drill teams traveling the world in competition? Like marching band or show choir with weapons?
- sd2001, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4Lots of bubbleheads on Digg, it seems.
- fmr. A-Ganger USS Rhode Island (SSBN 740B) - dynamojoe, on 10/30/2009, -1/+5That was amazing. That's a lot of practice and discipline that paid off. The level of trust there is impressive, too. I mean, one totally understandable slipup could get rid of the boss....
- twinklyJesus, on 10/30/2009, -2/+5I think you are making ***** up.

- MAGZine, on 10/30/2009, -1/+4I couldn't help but notice how glossy the floor looks. Seems like it would reflect a lot of light into the audience's eyes and would be very slippery. Slippery != to what you want on ANY stage. Working in theater, you come to know that if you so much as have one nail not nailed down in the corner of the stage, someone is bound to trip over it.
- JeSTeRSeVeN, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3"Ceremonial"
These are usually regular Navy guys that are all trained in various skills that get to do a stint in the drill team. Just like doing a 3 year stint on a ship, when they are done with this they will move on to their next orders. - zan6669, on 10/31/2009, -0/+3Whoever you are, you are awesome.
+1 internet for you, sir. - skipvt, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3MT USS Will Rogers (SSBN 659) Blue
- CaffieneMan, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3now *that* is cool!
- cuervoman914, on 10/30/2009, -1/+3and afterwards they drank all their beer, impregnated every woman, and left them with one dvd set of 24; just in case.
- AIias, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2Absolutely sick!

- elTito, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2Esprit De Corps and PR mostly. Sort of along the same lines as the Blue Angels (fighter plane demonstration team) or the Golden Knights (free fall demonstration team).
I'm not sure about competitions.
Each branch also has its orchestral and vocal bands, among other things. - gethane, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2Thanks for the info! Interesting stuff. I hope they enjoy it. Looks like a fun gig compared to some other in the military.
- allengeer, on 10/30/2009, -1/+3bet those timpani's are a real pain in the ass to get out on the battle field.
- Vikrane, on 10/31/2009, -0/+2They recruit pretty much straight from basic, its the same for every services Honor Guards.
- DulcetTone, on 10/30/2009, -0/+1I was encouraged when I saw that every single sailor remembered to bring his rifle this time.
- DagonwebNL, on 10/30/2009, -2/+3Whatever it is, it is unpleasant to the extreme.
- deslock, on 10/30/2009, -1/+2That is a marching band not an honor guard.
- TexTurboesq, on 10/30/2009, -2/+3Absolutely beautiful.
- savethegobbos, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1Nice, but Indiana Jones did it better.
