Tree-Listeners Hear Trees Drinking
oddstrument.com — The clicking sound that you will hear is produced by the water passing through the cells and cavitating. Tree-listening is made possible by a specially designed, listening sensor... Interesting project, check it out.

- life38, on 05/14/2008, -0/+19My son would love to have had one on our walk in the woods and when we transplanted the trees. He wanted to know if transplanting hurt the tree. I had to explain that thinning out trees and moving them to open space helps more of them to survive.
This link is his drawing and more of his discussion of caring for nature.

“The world is perfect and correct when I am walking in the woods. Then, next winter we cut down trees and in the spring we use them to cook our food. Then we use the leaves to make the fire with. The planet is real. It is important for animals to live on the earth; us too.
Are we an animal??
We need to be nice to nature, do not kick nature and kill it. If we are nice to nature, it will be nice to us. We take care of nature like pets.”
Thanks for sharing.- greenmason, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1Would you mind posting this comment on the blog? It's very moving =)
- lisaawesome, on 05/14/2008, -1/+3Your son understands the world better than most adults I know. Bravo for raising such an adept world steward.
- lisaawesome, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Only on the internet do you get a negative reaction for encouraging someone's kid! Thanks for the digg down.
- KingWilson, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1"if we are nice to nature, it will be nice to us"......not necessarily my experience
If fact besides like bees or something, i'm not sure this applies any REAL animals - NaziHatinChimp, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3Dugg for you giving a ***** about your kid, which is more than I can say for a lot of America.

- Surferess, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7"there is some sort of exchange between a person and a tree that communicates a new tree - a new meaning for a tree - a new understanding, gratitude and relationship for what a tree really is"
Wow, this is really ground breaking - literally!- sarcoside, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0The life-force energy resonates from all that is living!
- DearSergio, on 05/14/2008, -3/+29Goddamn hippies!

- Odenized, on 05/14/2008, -1/+8Curious, can the sound be recorded or has the technology yet to be developed?
- EnjoyTheFact, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2I imagine it can be but it would just sound like clicking. It would lose something.
- vonfook, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7I officially nominate replacing the phrase "Going to a baseball game is like watching paint dry" with "Going to a baseball game is like listening to trees drinking, only less scientific."
- Istrancis, on 05/14/2008, -0/+11“…I am sorry, I am not able to let you have an MP3. The sound doesn’t work unless you are under the tree. It takes away the experience.”
Oh well. I guess I'll just have to stick with the "glug glug glug" I'm imagining. - greenmason, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4Just try to visualize the sound on a cellular level. Mind-Boggling +)
- onionbagel724, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5Trees Anonymous

- duggtodeath, on 05/14/2008, -2/+1Drunk trees?
- VeryBoredNow, on 05/14/2008, -3/+3You must be smoking trees if you're hearing trees drinking.
- greenmason, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2What's with the stupid drug and alcohol references in the comments lol? Are trees really that cliche?
- lundeja, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4sure listening to trees drink is cool.... but have you ever listened to trees drinking ON WEEEEEED
- ANT1138, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3No, but I've heard the trees talk to me on mushrooms.
- axisofphilippe, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Sounds like the "tree listeners" were doing a little drinking of their own.
- bincoder, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3the tree listeners need a hobby.
- tandy400, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1They have one: tripping on acid then listening to trees.
- EASwanson, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5“…I am sorry, I am not able to let you have an MP3. The sound doesn’t work unless you are under the tree. It takes away the experience.”
Yo guys I just heard the whole Earth talking to me but I can't let you have an MP3. It would take away from the experience.... /sigh - Sucka27, on 05/14/2008, -8/+1This could possibly be the gayest hobby of all time. And that's doing a disservice to the word gay. Homosexual activity looks fun compared to this.
- timbro1, on 05/15/2008, -3/+1Its the sound of them pissing their pants cause their hopped up on goofballs. damn hippies....
- diggester, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3Mirror in case:
http://www.linkinn.com/static/_Tree_listeners_hear ...- valis, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I seriously doubt a mirror will be necessary whether the site remains available or not. Just plug your headphones into your (cable, ADSL, whatever) modem (adapter available for just $9.99 for the first 100 callers!) and listen to the 'net gossip.
- AndyStitzer, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1This article makes me feel better about myself
- fydo, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3“…I am sorry, I am not able to let you have an MP3. The sound doesn’t work unless you are under the tree. It takes away the experience.”
What? I don't get to hear it? Lame. Buried.- Archer007, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Some things are better experienced in person.
- yosserhughes, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0They should hire my wife: she can hear it from the next field.
