- bixby1, on 05/05/2009, -1/+56Somebody put A TON of work into this amazing tapestry of words.
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -2/+41I made it.
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -8/+46If anyone has any questions or comments I would be happy to answer.
- dvsbastard, on 05/05/2009, -0/+17Seeing as you submitted this first, and your profile seems to match that of the artist, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are the actual artist...
Excellent work! - MarkusX, on 05/05/2009, -1/+15This is quite an awesome work. 3 years??? I believe it.
- XFi6, on 05/05/2009, -3/+15Are*
- Janinco, on 05/05/2009, -1/+13That is amazing!
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+11This may seem like dodging the question but I don't remember. It has been a long time since I started and the reasons have evolved over time. When I started my intentions were different than when I ended. Mostly a cure for boredom. Partly because I had a stack of free magazines and something to glue it too.
- TheCollective00, on 05/05/2009, -0/+10It's like the world's biggest collection of refrigerator magnetic poetry
- whatupdoc18, on 05/05/2009, -0/+9wow, definitely take the time to read the words placed on the collage in relation to where it is on the picture. what an impressive undertaking!!!!
- justananomaly, on 05/05/2009, -0/+9Thats what it reads around the border...
I read the entire border then glanced at the middle and went into ADHD shock. - sx66gns, on 05/05/2009, -1/+10Where do I save it? Pictures or Documents?
I DON"T KNOW? - Psukhe, on 05/05/2009, -6/+14Every day, this commercial information system distorts our view of The Universe.
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+7I put this out so that people who couldn't afford it or if you wanted to see fine detail.
- AndrewDB, on 05/05/2009, -0/+7Some of the placements of the words are amazing, like "King for a day" on John Wilkes Booth head, and "I was ruler of a kingdom" on Lincoln or Survival, what to do when all goes wrong on Mary Lincoln.
- whatupdoc18, on 05/05/2009, -3/+10so this picture is collectively worth 2000 words?
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+6I would have to agree. That is why I didn't want to print it any smaller than 24x36 because the detail is what makes this piece interesting.
- consoneo, on 05/05/2009, -0/+6Anyone else find the "LIKE A WHORE." strip? Nice. :P
- immatellyouwhat, on 05/05/2009, -0/+6Anyone else thought the load numbers were actually counting all the 1000 words? No just me?
- exquisitecorpse, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5There are prints available on the site. Everyone should consider buying one to help support the artist's hard work.
- applenonono, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5That is amazing!
- duggtodeath, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5That's what I said to her.
- TM22, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5Me too man, me too.
- Psukhe, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5He submitted it on 4/22?
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5The source of magazines was originally free magazines on the internet. Then I needed more and more so I started dumpster diving book stores like Barnes and Noble because they rip off the cover and throw out old magazines.
It was a combination of both. I would read backwards for words I wanted and forward for neat phrases or words and group them together on a tray and glue them down when I liked them. - ch4os1337, on 05/05/2009, -1/+5Download (TIFF) http://paradox.rambisyouth.com/lossless/paradox.ti ...
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4You would have to ask my friend. He helps runs the main site http://rambisyouth.com
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4I am not considering selling the original at the moment. I am currently just trying to get it into a gallery (many as possible) I want it to be seen by as many people who want to see it.
- modgirl17, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4I spy with my little eye...
- i23Photography, on 05/05/2009, -2/+6Why did you make this?
- DocHoliday22, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4My Graphics card crapped out...
- phyx726, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4make sure you read the borders as well
- upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3Over the course of the picture two people helped but only for a day for the first one and the second one helped me cut and glue for a while but it was too much for her after a while.
The clippings are all from free magazines from the internet, given to me or dumpster dived from book stores because they tear off the cover and throw old magazines away. - Endomlik, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3The border is an interesting read.
- FAHQ2, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3How many actual hours of work did it take to make this?
(not how many years it sat waiting for you to finish it) - upisdown, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3I'm not completely sure. Most of the words were laid down in spurts - I'd spent 4-8 hours a day for a week or two on it then take a break for a few days or weeks. Sometimes I only had time to do 15 minutes here and there between school and work.
- KMZbadger, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3King for a day.
- Dr3w, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, upisdown.
I was wondering if you had a particular source for the words used in this piece? Also, did you look for the words with certain ones in mind, or did you just cut them out as you came across them if they struck you? Thanks! - immatellyouwhat, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3Okay are you seeing the bunnies also???
- pontiac, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2What is it you do? Are you an artist by trade or was this just something you had fun with? I loved this piece especially the boarder. Glad you stuck with it to the end, carrying on with a project for three years takes a lot of dedication.
- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2...so why did he decide that the picture he wanted to make was of abraham lincoln getting shot in the back of the head?
- JugularJuice, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2I'd have to say that's the point. It's a different approach rather than having a computer program render the text to form over the dark/light of a picture, he manually pasted actual found type in an intentionally creative and expressive manner.
much more impressive imo - waterboy9110, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2Are you going to sell it?
- sorepheet, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2I'm surprised that a power user didn't "borrow" the submission early on and that this made it to the front page before that happened. Kudos.
- pchi, on 05/06/2009, -0/+2This is just what I came looking for. Thank yew!
- beezman, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2What's with the free-hand symbol and the handwritten portion at the end of the pistol barrel?
- whatupdoc18, on 05/05/2009, -1/+3where's waldo?
- inajeep, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2What are you working on now? Something along the same vein?
- shipwreck58, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2Its impressive
