- socialpyramid, on 01/14/2008, -0/+14Definitely check out London!
- rd3k, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6I was there right in front of the eye, it was amazing!
- gidd, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4I only saw it on TV, interrupted frequently by the BBC's shoddy editing, showing lingering pictures of dumb people grinning at the display, rather than the display itself.
Good, though. It looked like they nuked Lambeth at the end.- dijo, on 01/14/2008, -3/+1Props to the BBC. It was awesome seeing peoples reactions.
- searcade, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Man i was right in front too! once the fireworks started 4/5 people there had cameras! i was shocked and surprised why so many people wanted to enter the new year holding a camera lol.
Btw i think they setup the place stupidly, if i left it i cannot come back in so i was basically trapped there since 9 o clock,
There was no shops, no drink or food AND there was police on horses with horse crap everywhere...
Anyway it was a nice day.

- rd3k, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6I was there right in front of the eye, it was amazing!
- egonSchiele, on 01/14/2008, -4/+5honestly, I was looking for something hilarious, possibly a darwin-awards-candidate video.
- andrewcsayer, on 01/14/2008, -0/+11Sydney's were spectacular
- splash, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3It's hard to compete with that amazing harbour bridge.
- lucidapathy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3I was there this year - it was by far the most impressive fireworks display I'd ever seen. It was ***** awesome. I wish the videos did it justice, at the end when they shot off all the white fireworks it was bright as day, you could see all the way around the harbor.
- Flashman, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2But that illuminated display on the bridge was tacky as hell.
- blitzer, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1I skipped it for a party.
Digg me down. - Stephiems, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1For sure, this year was the best since I've been in Australia (this is the 6th). The fireworks were just amazing. Though, I was out on the harbor on a boat, and that certainly makes it even better.
- passedoutghost, on 01/15/2008, -1/+0The fireworks were good, but the crowds weren't. Me and my friends jumped a lot of fences in order to avoid the coppers and the crowds (we had some alcohol in our bags). Great fun :D
- altovolta, on 01/14/2008, -2/+3Dubai, man? Give me a break.
- leogodoy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Rio's combo of fireworks and drive-by shooting can't be beaten. ;-)
- buzmcg, on 01/14/2008, -1/+3Viva, Las Vegas...I like that one.
- Moosebern, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1I was in Vegas to see it. It sucked. Just a huge letdown.
- xdvx, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Damn, I missed fireworks this year, need to travel somewhere next year... so beautiful
- LBobRife, on 01/14/2008, -0/+72008 WAS an exception for Seattle.
- TurboJet, on 01/14/2008, -2/+0manufacturing the firework, especially this kind whose power is almost like a hand grenade bonding with a small rocket, is extremely dangerous...not to mention all the pollution generated right in the air among the cities....but what the heck! it's fun to watch~
- ultralights, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6london was nice, but it looked more like a massive amount of firworks with no real order...

- Auzy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4Ever wondered how awesome fireworks are without a proper countdown? Thanks alot Crown Casino in Melbourne. Thats the last 30 bucks I spend there on NYE.
Should have just stayed inside at the pub - Dotmeister, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1What? No Funchal, Portugal?
Just see it, it's wonderful:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXuqU9iA6c8- yhan, on 01/15/2008, -0/+0No, lets not put the greatest fireworks show in the world (by the guiness world records) in this top10, why would one even do some sort of research before shooting these top10 lists to the wild.
- mjpatey, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Nice article! Regarding the description, "...watch as these major cities quite literally blow up our taxes," just a note that in Baltimore, the fireworks display (maybe not of international caliber, but no slouch, either!) is entirely privately funded. They get a different sponsor every year.
- ross., on 01/14/2008, -0/+2For a some cities, such as Sydney or Vegas, I'm sure they make there money back in tourism and free promotion around the world, not to mention the millions spent on the night by on lookers.
- monkeyrun, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2The fireworks in Hong Kong looks like a dildo, but it's awesomely creative.
- iDoraemon, on 01/14/2008, -1/+1I saw the Taipei one on top of a building downtown with some friends. Now that was one hell of a fireworks show, seeing fireworks being shot off from a building that looks like a stack of Chinese take-out boxes. Incredible stuff. Definitely a must-see place.
- dijo, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1My yard should have made the list.
- vladm, on 01/14/2008, -1/+5London's display was pretty good this year as was New York but I'm afraid it Sydney FTW :)
- Radan, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Stockholm, Sweden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJLLUNVuu08
Seriously, we need a freaking tower, or something! This is just humiliating. I wonder if the Brits would mind if we borrowed their ol' Ben over New Year next time?- dijo, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Swap you for some hot girls
- graduisic, on 01/15/2008, -0/+2While New York's was at the bottom, the fireworks used had some kickass effects.
And London's display should have included Paul Oakenfold! - leaderless, on 01/15/2008, -1/+0I vote for the fireworks at Koh Samui. Now that's how you celebrate.
Let everyone buy commercial sized hand made fireworks and see what happens.
The island was alive with the sound of bombs going off.
Started at round 12ish or so, didn't really have a clock nearby and went on for a while.
Amazingly no one got hurt. It was amusing when some of the fireworks were faulty and just made a lot of smoke. - supasurg, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Wow, France sucked!
- wrestlingnrj, on 01/15/2008, -0/+2Burried for not including Iceland.
- boscheironymous, on 01/15/2008, -1/+2This list should include "Crude Awakening" at 2007 Burningman. It ended with a freaking mushroom cloud!
