- CaviMike, on 08/30/2009, -1/+63I'd take the laptop over any of these things.

- lcarsdeveloper, on 08/30/2009, -0/+46Easy, mount it on rails and push it using a supercharged steam train.
- ianmgull, on 08/30/2009, -0/+40Guitar?

Hate the trendy Steampunk Goth Hot Topic counter-culture underground ***** - Jack8274, on 08/30/2009, -0/+30That is one dirty ass keyboard. Do you ever clean that?
- kplo, on 08/30/2009, -1/+24The Sultan's Elephant is kind of creepy. Then again, I guess a lot of steampunk can be.
- smemily, on 08/30/2009, -0/+20There's nothing so rebellious or ironic as buying your counterculture gear at a corporate store that mass-produces it.
- Mship, on 08/30/2009, -0/+15Am I the only one who thought that the TARDIS was already steam punk the way it was?
- Spoomeister, on 08/30/2009, -1/+12Steampunk isn't creepy. Steampunk enthusiasts can be though.
- BooLag, on 08/30/2009, -0/+9I saw the Telectroscope when it was on display in London. Cool stuff.
- pygmy, on 08/30/2009, -2/+11wicky wicky west wicky wa wild west
- Suricou, on 08/30/2009, -1/+10I attempted to paint it black years ago. Having painted it black, I decided it looked even uglier, and tried to remove the paint again. Unfortunatly I chose a very good paint, and I was never able to get it all off even with the use of white spirit and cue-tips.
The fact that it's stood up to my abuses shows just how solidly built the IBM M series are. - Vodd9, on 08/30/2009, -0/+8Come on, there's more than just black paint here.
- yocouchdigga, on 08/30/2009, -0/+7*nerdgasm*
- LordVance, on 08/30/2009, -0/+7I couldn't believe that wasn't on the list; easily one of my top 5 all time favorite steam punk designs.
- LoudMusic, on 08/30/2009, -0/+6Even if you had thought of it first doesn't mean you would have done anything about it. After all, your greatest successes are posting articles on Digg.
- Namco, on 08/30/2009, -2/+8That word, Epic. I do not think it means what you think it means.
- TheObviousChild, on 08/31/2009, -0/+6Well, I suppose if you had a straight stretch of track with a level grade, and you weren't haulin' no cars behind you, and if you can get the fire hot enough, and I'm talkin' about hotter than the blazes of hell and damnation itself... then yes, it might be possible to get her up that fast.
- marciot, on 08/30/2009, -0/+6Someone should make a Myst/Riven theme park. Those steampunk designs would be right at home.
- Suricou, on 08/30/2009, -4/+8This makes my steampunk electronic die look rather pathetic :-(
http://sharedserv.no-ip.org/misc/Glowydie2.jpg - Hellicus, on 08/30/2009, -0/+4Dugg for that awesome treehouse at the end of the article.
- samanathon, on 08/30/2009, -1/+5Hey! These guys had to start somewhere too...
- inactive, on 08/30/2009, -1/+4Dugg for the elephant
- NetJoe, on 08/31/2009, -0/+3here's the record from 1906, 127Mph:

- amirahfusion, on 08/31/2009, -0/+3honestly, they tend to be super normal, nice, intelligent people, who decided that they can still enjoy using their imaginations like they did as a kid. Seriously, some of the most fun parties I've been to were pirate and gypsy parties filled with people dressed in crazy *****...and too much booze. seriously goodtimes :)
- ideology, on 08/31/2009, -0/+3That is stunning.
- rand21althor, on 08/31/2009, -0/+2Dugg for the TARDIS console and Dalek.
- itlnstln, on 08/30/2009, -0/+2God I love me some steampunk. Not terribly efficient but scientifically fascinating
- sinurgy, on 08/31/2009, -0/+2http://www.artfulgamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2007 ...
- judicar, on 08/30/2009, -0/+2What, no movie spoilers on the front page? That's weird.
- YumYumTruck, on 08/30/2009, -0/+2No, you don't get it.
- killdashnine, on 08/30/2009, -0/+2Nothing better than a lot of free time and good 'ol imagination!
- TheObviousChild, on 08/31/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I remember playing Myst in high school the summer my parents moved me to a different state and I had no friends. Damn that creepy island felt extra lonely. As a testament to how bored I was, I still have the journal that came with the game with all sorts of illustrations and sketches I drew from the game..cles and such.
I suppose it is more of a testament to how pathetic I was.
So what were we talking about? Oh yeah, steampunk. Cool. - aetherboy, on 08/30/2009, -0/+2No...THIS makes it look pathetic.
Steampunk Toilet with laser guided aiming assistance anybody?
http://www.buysteampunk.com/the-steampunk-toilet-f ... - Dyhorus, on 08/31/2009, -0/+2The Elephant is still there, because they have created another one which is part of a permanent exhibition called "the machines of the isle of Nantes", and you can take a ride on it.
I took a picture of it, at the beginning of the year : http://fc04.deviantart.com/fs38/i/2008/359/8/b/Ele ...
More information : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machines_of_the_Isle_ ...
And on google map : http://tinyurl.com/mony9c - inactive, on 08/31/2009, -0/+2I'm actually looking for such a group of people locally. It feels like I'm trying to join organised crime, it's so elusive.
- aetherboy, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1Last I checked eBay did a really non-existent job of grouping things that are "steampunk themed." I've actually found that this site does some pretty good filtering to get all the crap out of there even if I can't sort it and things like that. It lists by things ending soonest so I just check back every now and then to see if there's anything cool posted. Not sure why you're hating on it...
- marciot, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1Plus, Myst just wouldn't have that same feeling if other people were present. Case in point, I played the online multiplayer version of URU for about a month (before it got discontinued), and I found that having other people present sort of ruined the Myst experience. Myst was always meant to be played alone.
- schiftwicke, on 08/30/2009, -0/+1That elephant was awesome! I wish I could have seen it irl before it was destroyed... (From the elephant's wiki entry: "The elephant no longer exists: Helen Marriage of Artichoke, the company that produced the London performance, said "Royal de Luxe were so fed up with being invited all over the world to perform The Sultan's Elephant, they just destroyed it.")
- rand21althor, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1Definitely in the McGann movie.
- smurfsahoy, on 08/30/2009, -1/+2Using actual lasers for anything = complete steampunk comprehension fail...
Also, that is an exceedingly ***** website. All it's doing is searching ebay for you - except minus the ability to click on ebay categories on the left, or to sort your searches the way you want, or to save favorites without an extra click, etc. And then add on top of that the fact that putting "steampunk" into the search just adds an extra $10 on versus typing in "watch parts bulk," for no good reason. More expensive merchandise that's harder to find?! w00t! - amirman, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1the best steampunk game i've ever played is arcanum.
it plays a lot like the first two fallout games, i think it was made by the same people on the same engine.
it's all about technology vs. magic at the turn of the century. so yeah like any rpg you could be a wizard or whatever but it's a whole lot cooler to be some kind of engineer that builds *****.
i need to play that game again. - digitalArtform, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1Imagine if Einstein had conceived of the Theory of Relativity or warping the fabric of space-time way back in 1905.
- inactive, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1Steampunk ***** is ***** gay.
- smemily, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1A myst theme park would rule, except you'd need a way to keep the other visitors from ***** up the switches you painstakingly set on the other side of the island.
- TheObviousChild, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1Wild Wild West sucked wild wild balls.
Just sayin'. - Efilnikufesin, on 08/31/2009, -0/+1missing Zybourne Clock= buried.
- Jake10, on 08/31/2009, -1/+1Frisbee... far out.
