- TrevorPace, on 04/11/2008, -2/+6No...but seeing as that is actually downstream it wouldn't be AS bad.
- encumbent, on 04/11/2008, -3/+4I'd kinda want to be upstream, but that's just me :)
- woofers07, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2It wouldn't be as bad, but the fish are still spending time in all the waste before they move up the river, sorry hypothetical river.
- kmalik, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1good eye, i'm impressed.

-Oh right, that's what you do when you can't come up with other interesting things to look at in digital art.......- WoollyMittens, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5I'm surprised you found the precious time to annoy me with your pointless whining.

- TheImmigrant, on 04/11/2008, -6/+6Ron Paul Can fix this
- sjl127, on 04/11/2008, -5/+4No he can't because he can't get a fair election.
- dawgma, on 04/11/2008, -2/+9It was fair. The people spoke and they didn't want him.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 04/11/2008, -2/+6Because America doesn't want a nut job with ideas that will never ever come to fruition the system isn't fair?
There are things that are wrong with the election process, but Ron Paul not being taken seriously is not one of them.
- sjl127, on 04/11/2008, -5/+4No he can't because he can't get a fair election.
- Di0genes, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1I don't get why everyone is assuming the water is polluted. It looks perfectly clean. It isn't that hard to imagine that flying cars might succeed the elimination of pollution.
- jemka, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1The level is off. Water on left is flowing from left to center/right. Water bottom right is flowing to center/left.
Doesn't add up. - radoxist, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2actually the question is not "if you want" but the question is "if you have to" :) But I don't want to make the river polluted too much, too depressive...that's the point

- akman003, on 04/11/2008, -3/+28How is this artist not famous??
- Zera, on 04/11/2008, -12/+3Because Digital art is dime a dozen... this one's just really super high res..... the city in the background is just blurry to give the impression of complexity
- Zaeboes, on 04/11/2008, -1/+0The city in the background isn't blurry, that's a light filter.
- Abaddon1125, on 04/11/2008, -2/+36Because people want to claim that digital art is a dime a dozen, when really it is just as difficult to produce as traditional media. It's too bad digital art carries with it the stigma of being "easy" or "cheap" when it is neither.
- Zaeboes, on 04/11/2008, -4/+6It's cheap because it can be printed out by the millions and no one copy is "the original" thus it loses its value at auction.
Very good work and just as hard as traditional work though, I will give you that.- danesis, on 04/11/2008, -3/+4ever heard of signing it and getting it authenticated?
- Zera, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5Not cheap OR easy....... digital art is just really plentiful.... it's everywhere, there are so many digital art websites that you could literally start looking at it now, and view images at one per second continuously for months. This is good... certainly better than most digital art, but it doesn't really stand head and shoulders above the rest.
See this for an example of something that made the artist famous:
http://www.bertmonroy.com/fineart/text/fineart_dam ... - Namaha, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4Seriously, this particular artist put in so much detail to this work. There's even little rainbows on the rapids in the lower-right corner.
- Zaeboes, on 04/11/2008, -4/+6It's cheap because it can be printed out by the millions and no one copy is "the original" thus it loses its value at auction.
- swrostmore, on 04/11/2008, -9/+2Believe it or not this isn't really on par with professional digital art, at least not the kind that would make the artist "famous."
- Solis, on 04/11/2008, -1/+6'Or not' is right.
- richenloaf, on 04/11/2008, -1/+7I think he is probably not famous because, although he is obviously technically proficient, his work isn't conceptually challenging.
- volonix, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Dunno why you're getting dug down, this is completely true.
- akman003, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1I blame Hillary
- Zera, on 04/11/2008, -12/+3Because Digital art is dime a dozen... this one's just really super high res..... the city in the background is just blurry to give the impression of complexity
- strobelite33, on 04/11/2008, -0/+26holy hell. that reminds me of brave new world; when they go to visit the savages and it's this completely different world juxtaposed to the 'future world'. insane picture.
- SuperSloth, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1That's exactly what I thought. It looks exactly like I pictured Brave New World. Amazingly well done.
- Xoti, on 04/11/2008, -12/+125Im pretty sure its photoshopped.

- pipermike, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1no way man, that looks like Toronto
- Jiggernaut82, on 04/11/2008, -7/+25I love how this picture combines both modern society and the less than privileged almost 3rd world country feel. Creating the idea that one is so much more superior than the other, and that at best they must live off our waste. Very powerful!!
- MagikOvenMit, on 04/11/2008, -2/+6I don't get why this guy is getting dugg down... This is actually a kind of important topic.
- mattjumbo, on 04/11/2008, -1/+22It's odd how different people interpret art. My impression was that the smaller, rural town had chosen to live that way and there was a kind of symbiosis and respect between the two.
- Di0genes, on 04/11/2008, -0/+8Mine as well. The village seems idyllic, not oppressed.
- la7crosse11, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Yeah, reminds me of a hobbit/shire area. It's be hella fun to run the fields and not be cramped up in the city life.
- Intamin, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1Sure, but if you look at the huge wall and the fact that the waste is running off into the village's water supply/fisheries...it's easy to interpret it differently.
I agree with both, really, the beauty of art.
- lotsa1s, on 04/11/2008, -1/+9The contrast is indeed very striking, but what is also interesting is the way such simple things such as a little feast and fire excites the village people and brings them joy. How they can live in contentness and happiness in the shadow of the city, without exuberant materialism, and flying cars, and gigantic spires of metal and glass that cut through the sky. Without pumping millions of gallons of polluted water into nearby river systems.
They've no need for such "advances" in technology and science to live their lives, and in fact look warmer, happier, and more living then the cold materialism that the city people exhibit. The people in the flying cars seem to be racing to get somewhere, while the ones in the village seem to have already found it.- radoxist, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Nice written! Yes I meant something like that by this, but everyone could answer that question "worth enough?" for yourself...
- edwartica, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2The catch 22 though - health issues. How many of these people will live past 50? I'm guessing not too many.

- Kallius, on 04/11/2008, -5/+36Dugg comments for Skarbreeze and Bobbybebob providing working links. Buried for Mrbabyman linking to a crap-ass server that can't take more than 10 views.
- PHiZ187, on 04/11/2008, -1/+8If he is such a Digg god, then he should know to snag a mirror of sites before he submits something. He could put it as the first comment...
- Kloud, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4And he would know to source his work rather than stealing images from Deviant Art just to feed his lust for Diggs.
- smurf22, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1As far as the rest of those details go my favorite is the lines in the sky the planes leave.

- Rodalli, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Looks like it could easily be the setting for an RPG. Reminds me very much of Midgar in Final Fantasy VII.
- o0Taggart0o, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1My goodness the idea does really remind me of Midgar, too. Makes you wonder if this will ever happen...

- Selenica, on 04/11/2008, -3/+0Very symbolic way of representing the upper and lower(peasant-like) classes.
- grantmoore3d, on 04/11/2008, -6/+3Honestly time.... it's really amazing and I can't do even close to that, however... it's not really all that detailed.
- catachip, on 04/11/2008, -2/+21I never heard the word "embiggen" before I came to Digg.
My friend tells me it's a perfectly cromulent word though.- J3EBS, on 04/11/2008, -4/+2Yea it's completely scrumpdiddlioso.
