- Malteserr, on 03/19/2009, -1/+17And then you get an RSS feed of the RSS feed magazine.
- xShad0w, on 03/19/2009, -0/+16Isn't this the opposite of what should be happening... RSS feed of a printed magazine is the future.
- linagee, on 03/19/2009, -0/+11How do you get it to update? *shakes magazine furiously*
- inactive, on 03/19/2009, -0/+11Good luck with that.
- emt1451, on 03/19/2009, -0/+7They're hell-bent on using trees, aren't they?
- NorrisOBE, on 03/19/2009, -0/+6Dugg for Kate Winslet.
- briangig, on 03/19/2009, -1/+7I think this is a great idea...i look at a computer enough, and an actual printed piece of paper is a nice thing to carry around instead of busting out the laptop just to read an article that interests me.
- DeathJux, on 03/19/2009, -2/+6There were fake SomethingAwful google ads for having your favorite websites printed and shipped to your doorstep.
How sad that it is coming true. :-( - kesin, on 03/19/2009, -0/+4Be creative. Thats all print media and Detroit have to do dammit.
- MScrip, on 03/19/2009, -0/+3> "Many people are forecasting the death of printed word due to the internet, and they're going to have to do something to stay afloat."
By printing more magazines? Highly-customized 36-page booklets with content from other magazines?
If the print industry dies because of the internet... then it's supposed to happen. No one is forcing print media to shut its doors. Every print magazine has an online component... and people like to browse LOTS of content online, rather than subscribe to only one or two magazines. - Phipman, on 03/19/2009, -1/+4Needs a wider selection than 8 magazines...
- blapierre, on 03/19/2009, -1/+38c5 = 56
- iwonataco, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2"you can't pick the same magazine 5 times. So each time you choose a magazine, there is one less option for you to pick." This is correct. If we allowed choices to be repeated, the number of possible combinations would be
8^5 = 32 768
As it is, 8choose5 is the result when we don't want to be able to pick the same magazine more than once. - inactive, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2Decent idea, but the selection sucks.
- diemunkiesdie, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2Great idea, I just signed up. But how are there 56 possible combinations? The topics were a little broad for me to personalize, but I will see the results when I get the first issue!
- bkraj, on 03/19/2009, -1/+3While I don't think this is all that great an idea, you have to respect what they're trying to do. Many people are forecasting the death of printed word due to the internet, and they're going to have to do something to stay afloat.
- graphictruth, on 03/20/2009, -0/+2It kind of seems like building a steam tractor to haul a buggy and trying to compete with the Model T.
- 74associates, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2how do i set up the automatic rss feeds to twitter, facebook, plaxo, etc etc?
- fajitamelt, on 03/19/2009, -1/+3The economy screws a lot of things up.
- diemunkiesdie, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2Only one problem with that, you can't pick the same magazine 5 times. So each time you choose a magazine, there is one less option for you to pick.
- nesagwa, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2Just log into those sites.
Or turn the computer off and call those people or go physically talk to them. - diemunkiesdie, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2Only one problem with that, you can't pick the same magazine 5 times. So each time you choose a magazine, there is one less option for you to pick.
- ahage16, on 03/19/2009, -1/+2Can Kindle handle RSS feeds? If not, this may be the next step
- mmittimm, on 03/19/2009, -2/+3Why is that sad? Some people like print media.
- iwonataco, on 03/20/2009, -1/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combination
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=8+choose+ ... - kingofkolt, on 03/20/2009, -0/+1Just signed up for it myself. The selection of magazines left over isn't fantastic, but hey, I'm getting Time magazine for free at least.
- taibo, on 03/19/2009, -0/+1It's a pretty good idea. Bring the format of RSS feeds to a wider audience who don't use it on the internet. Innovation is always good.
- jtown, on 03/19/2009, -4/+1Yo, dude, I heard you like RSS feeds so I put an RSS feed in yo' RSS feed...
- HurricaneDC, on 03/19/2009, -12/+4We heard you like RSS, so we put RSS in your magazine so you can get RSS while you RSS.
