- AManWithNoName, on 04/10/2008, -6/+447O.O Wow. I think this qualifies this guy for ubernerd status.
- JLecker, on 04/10/2008, -21/+429Ladies and gentlemen, I believe this is the definition of "***** epic".
- blackrage, on 04/10/2008, -3/+279Damn, this guy needs a hobby. Ohh...wait...I guess that is his hobby.
Very well sir...carry on. - inactive, on 04/10/2008, -4/+237Tiny little TIE fighters! awwwww.
- ams876, on 04/10/2008, -0/+178He should do a Death Star thats scaled to the Star Destroyer next.
- cdawzrd, on 04/10/2008, -1/+133I can't even begin to comprehend how you do that detail work... kinda crazy.
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -1/+131i bet he saw those light bulbs in a store, casually thought "star destroyer", then a few weeks later wondered how the hell he got himself wound up in this size of a project.
- Mootabolife, on 04/10/2008, -0/+104My hobbies involve surfing the net and alcohol. If this makes the guy a nerd, so be it.. he's 10x more productive than I am.
- jonathantneal, on 04/10/2008, -0/+67Most impressive.
- rvandy, on 04/10/2008, -1/+65The emperor asks the impossible...he needs more men!
- LudwigNosen, on 04/10/2008, -0/+61"So this is what it looks like to have too much time on one's hands ..."
Yeah he should have spent his time memorizing TV commercials and reading digg stories about people who accomplish things. - feshmania, on 04/10/2008, -1/+62it'd be sick if he built the deathstar next. then he's be king of the nerds...or Emperor...
- UrbanVoyeur, on 04/10/2008, -3/+55It's too bad everything is CGI now. Models have an appeal that CGI just can't match.
- themarq, on 04/10/2008, -1/+51Absolutely, assuming that you mean UberNerd as a term of endearment. This is so awesome looking. I wish that I could digg up the article but digg down the submitter's comment of "too much time on your hands." Everyone has free time and hobbies, the fact this guy's produces something awesome and that mine (and a lot of other diggers I'd bet) involves 10-15 hours a week of playing video games and watching TV makes me feel humbled and a little jealous of his motivation.
- TheGonzo, on 08/13/2008, -6/+51***** Incredible Holy *****
- Kondakarian, on 04/10/2008, -6/+46ooh. shiny!
- orangefly, on 04/10/2008, -0/+39you can actually see ewoks spattered on the windshield....
- baylat, on 04/10/2008, -0/+37March 8, 2012 -
Got divorced again, but now back to work! Added anti-gravity thrusters. Reprogramming the auto-pilot AI. Managed to fix the canons, now it has enough power to melt ice without overheating. - inactive, on 04/10/2008, -0/+36I'd love to hit that with an Ion Cannon
- BNash577, on 04/10/2008, -1/+35They weren't models, idot. It was filmed in space. Duh.
- arcangelgabriel, on 04/10/2008, -2/+35Impressive, most impressive.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/10/2008, -0/+31He should take his SSD model to EPCOT and film it smashing into the big ball.

- Chompy, on 04/10/2008, -1/+30COMMENT HIJACK: the OP link only goes to October of 2007, here are some more recent photos.
http://stardestroyerproject.com/Update.aspx - ncdave101, on 04/10/2008, -1/+25But only if he built it to the same scale as his Star Destroyer :-)
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -0/+23Pew pew pew!
- dasbush, on 04/10/2008, -2/+24The latest update is from December, 2007. Its been 4 months, let's have some more photos!
The 24" guys look incredible however. This thing will be badass when complete. - Chompy, on 04/10/2008, -1/+23Probably about EPCOT-sized. Before you say that's too big, recall how the SSD scaled against the Death Star when it impacted, and then how much larger than an ISD the SSD was.
/nerd - havokzero, on 04/10/2008, -0/+21He could probably sell this masterpiece for thousands of $$$ once it's finished.
Then again, screw that! Save it for the grandchildren. - xthpsgodx, on 04/10/2008, -0/+20No he would throw it out and use CGI
- Lubinski, on 04/10/2008, -0/+19I think this qualifies this guy for a job somewhere...
- dickbain, on 04/10/2008, -2/+21George Lucas would sue.
- worthone, on 04/10/2008, -1/+19Because a guy from the internet can always do it better.
- Jadler88, on 04/10/2008, -0/+18"I'm a grumpy news photographer from Dayton, Ohio who has too much time after the kids have gone to bed."
Taken from his About Us page. O_o - Bologner, on 04/10/2008, -2/+19What the ***** are you talking about?!?!?
- PixelMagic, on 04/10/2008, -0/+16I'm a CG artist, and even I agree with that. Models ftw!
- shortyjacobs, on 04/10/2008, -0/+16Intricate. It took me five minutes to figure out you meant intricate.
- postalblowfish7, on 04/10/2008, -0/+16Then perhaps you should tell him that yourself when he arrives.
- aaaleman, on 04/10/2008, -2/+17I need that to be the centerpiece of my apartment.
- Exhumist, on 04/10/2008, -1/+16I'm with you... When I opened this, I thought I would get a good laugh at a super geek... But, I find myself mesmerized by the attention to detail and the overall quality of what he has put together... Then I think... maybe I am the super geek for truly DIGGING this!?
- raptor000000, on 04/10/2008, -0/+14We shall double our efforts!
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -0/+14*Uses the force to choke raptor00000 for messing up his lines*
- georgewellsca, on 04/10/2008, -0/+14Here's hoping the grandchildren don't spout "What's Star Wars?" - for that, I would blame the parents :)
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -0/+14This guy has alot of talent, too bad everyone uses cgi models for movies now, or else he would be working in Hollywood. This model is pretty awesome. I say we at Digg all band together and buy the guy a descent camera, because the pics look like I took them with my cell phone camera.
- starvo, on 04/10/2008, -0/+13Per his About page.. Apparently he has kids.
So there you go. You too can get laid and build a star destroyer model. - Bologner, on 04/10/2008, -1/+14"Hey Han, why do they call 'em Tie Fighters?"
- bbardlbradd, on 04/10/2008, -1/+14"Don't get penisy kid"
- ChoiceMad, on 04/10/2008, -0/+13Yes, epic would indeed be if the weapons did function... or if it could actually fly... or hover... Unnecessary? Insane? Impossible? Absolutely... but epic would be the appropriate definition for such things. oldhick simply has higher standards for what is to be considered 'epic'.
- wc3452, on 04/10/2008, -0/+13That would be quite large...to say the least
