- bluelines, on 07/04/2009, -3/+68Many of those aren't even steampunk. Not even close.
- greatfloat, on 07/04/2009, -5/+58Let's be honest, most of those were far from spectacular.
- JonTheGoose, on 07/04/2009, -1/+25How did Guild Wars concept drawings end up there??
- villainousT, on 07/04/2009, -4/+25A lot of really cool pieces, but some of them were f'in horrible.
- Necronomicana, on 07/04/2009, -1/+19Bioshock?
- tonychenyj, on 07/04/2009, -7/+21With those beautiful arts, sure can make a excellent Game.
- Corr0sive, on 07/04/2009, -0/+12oh thats a guild wars load screen
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Kaineng_City_l ... - Sharky35, on 07/04/2009, -0/+12Some of that stuff isn't very steam punk.
And the "transformers" pic is just horrible. I don't think the artist even used photoshop. And OMG those 2 f-15's are about to collide. - burningrobot, on 07/04/2009, -2/+121. Steal photos of Art Nouveau.
2. Superimpose old photos of people from a different time period.
3. Slap gas masks on them.
4. ???
5. Steampunk! - pieman427, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8poor bunny =(
- Frixionburne, on 07/04/2009, -1/+9Seriously I did a massive double take on that. Half expected to see a 2nd page with a giant undead Rurick staring me in the face.
- carbonfilament, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7I saw a couple interesting things and a lot of crap
- JakeBC, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7I really liked the lamps.
- DrakeGTA, on 07/04/2009, -0/+5Some of those are amazing, but unfortunately, a lot of what makes 2D art great does not translate into gaming well. You can pull of a lot of light and shadow effects in 2D that you can't in a 3D interactive environment. None the less, I'd love to see someone try a steampunk type game, although I am temped to say Myst and Obsidian almost count.
- cryptomystic, on 07/04/2009, -0/+5It's amazing how people piss on beautiful work like this created by extremely talented artists but get a hard on when they see somebody drop some paint into a bucket of water.
- CrazyEddie041, on 07/04/2009, -0/+5Erm... wrong topic?
- DaryLintheDark, on 07/05/2009, -0/+4"le cirque rouille" = "the rusted circus"
not "circus of rust"
yes, to me it makes a difference. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -2/+6Not so spectacular.
- matthekc, on 07/04/2009, -3/+7Since we are talking about steampunk(well sorta) I really love Abney Park and Dr. Steel.
Abney Park
http://www.abneypark.com/2008/index.htm
http://www.myspace.com/abneypark
Dr. Steel
http://worlddominationtoys.com/drsteel/enter.html
http://www.myspace.com/drsteel - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -1/+51.) use 'works of art' instead of arts; art is almost exclusively used in the singular to refer to the discipline, not individual pieces
2.) use 'an' instead of 'a' since excellent begins with a vowel
3.) don't capitalize 'Game'
not trolling, just correcting
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! - saucercrab, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4the "Metal Droid" is lame as hell lol.
- burningrobot, on 07/05/2009, -0/+3***** tha police!
- iansh, on 07/05/2009, -0/+3Why does the game have to be 3D? Lots of beautiful games came out in the 2D era of gaming. I personally feel like the gaming industry is getting a little stale, and that a visually stunning, big name, 2D masterpiece could possibly spark a gaming renaissance.
- crashlock, on 07/04/2009, -1/+4Bioshock really made me appreciate Steampunkness :)
- woodrail, on 07/04/2009, -1/+4guns
- ariel, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Are you my mummy?
- saucercrab, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3really..... they were that amazing? really?
- christoast, on 07/04/2009, -3/+51. Wild Wild West
2. Fail - SSUK, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Damnation? Crap game, yes, but also quite steampunk.
- pakratt0013, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Dugg for walking city.
- jenesaispas, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Wait, how did this make a top story?!
- smacksaw, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Since our last issue of Steampunk Art Update we saw some truly mind-boggling examples of this sub-genre, with more creative "steam" and inventive "spunk" than can be found anywhere in modern art scene
Spunk? What is this, letters to Penthouse? - SpykeKelm, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2It's great to learn!!!
- itsLadam, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2The apocalyptic metropolis looks like it was copied straight out of Jet Set Radio Future...
- sluggermoore, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Some of them remind me of the great card game Deadlands. :)
- DirtPile, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2I had tickets to that show.
- NaturalCauzes, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2I followed the link to the "first part" and had two thoughts on seeing this photo gallery: Zoids; and the sea otters from South Park's "Go God Go".
- marciot, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2I recently played Syberia on GameTap. It's very steampunkish and remarkably well done.
- aetherboy, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Another fan of Abney Park here. Also, if you're interested attempting to build any steampunk gear, you can usually find decent priced steampunk crafts on http://www.buysteampunk.com. Its great if you need steampunk costumes and such for posed photographs.
- Birdoftruth, on 07/04/2009, -4/+6I get dugg down for the truth? Seriously? Digg gets ***** every day.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biopunk#Computer_and_ ... - erikwithaknotac, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2is there a way to get out of the castle without using the master key?
- vizerei, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2I would only say some aren't. Most appear to be steam punk.
- Macgyrl64, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Steampunk? as an art genre? who knew.
- Paigey07, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Couple of them remind me of Dali or Tanguy
- zuiquan, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3Not a lot of quality there. I do not like most of this artwork even though I greatly appreciate the genre.
- Handonam, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Do you guys see something strange about the ST-38?
Well, i see a machine doing it with another machine. - skipvt, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4Buried for large carbon footprint.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3I'm a really big fan of Steampunk usually, but something about most of these pictures is unappealing to me :(
- jackcharm, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4meh
- DirtPile, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1That happens twice daily for me.
