- alex7575, on 05/22/2009, -0/+47According to http://translate.klingonreference.com/
"She must be hot!" translates to:
"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)
/single.asp, line 24 " - CamoChris, on 05/22/2009, -0/+27That's Microsoft Klingon, it's a regional dialect.
- edrodgers731, on 05/22/2009, -0/+17You should see the "Blue Screen of Karhg Tak" in the original Klingon!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/22/2009, -0/+16Such a beautiful language...
- pkon, on 05/22/2009, -1/+12Bitches loveeeee it when I talk Klingon to them
- raober, on 05/22/2009, -1/+11*Sigh* Okay, I'll do it...
She's a cunning linguist! - mickstephenson, on 05/22/2009, -0/+9Under what circumstances do you see her being in the employ of the government? Everything comes down to you yanks throwing a hissy fit about your tax dollars based on zero evidence.
She is a linguist and an author, logic dictates she probably works for a university. - techdever, on 05/22/2009, -0/+9...and yet so many Americans aren't fluent in english
- pathouston22, on 05/22/2009, -1/+9Qapla'
- oneoverzero, on 05/22/2009, -0/+8Did you even read the article?
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -0/+8Um...Neither? FTA it sounds like she studies languages, real and made up.
- Myztry, on 05/22/2009, -0/+8I read a book as a child "Golden Dream - A Fuzzy Odyssey" (C) 1982 Charter Communications ISBN 0-441-29729-3 - I'm holding it now.
Anyway, the native creatures of the book use native (alien) phrases which you need to look up in the glossary. By the end of the book I had became proficient in all the terms and no longer had to look them up.
Pity that at that point, I no longer had a use for the knowledge (76 terms) - but it was a good "noho-washa" - u8muhrice, on 05/22/2009, -0/+7Awesome, I can now talk to my imaginary girlfriend
- lornefs, on 05/22/2009, -1/+7"Kef Ch Kaflrgh"
Translated as "Get a Life".
(Love Star Trek, seen every episode but c'mon) - r0g3r, on 05/22/2009, -2/+7How can she be an expert in invented languages and never mention Tolkien? WTF? Klingon is a joke.
- yoinkdigg, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4Kind of like in "A Clockwork Orange". I read that book and could speak their language real horrorshow-like.
- Rudegar, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4I wan't it to translate to klingon letters too!
- Disclaimer, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4Chipmunk language? I gotta hear that.
- rromansanturio, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4It says languages created by one person...
- Monkofdoom, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4 pa' 'oH ghobe' tlhIngan vaD [digg] vaj jIH DIchDaq may' 'oH Dung
MyKlingon has failed me - barfooz, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3The proposal to put it in Unicode was rejected because the language community uses ASCII to write it :(
http://std.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc2/wg2/docs/n1643/n1643. ... - bluebirdgm, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3My uber-nerd moment: "Hey, her last name sounds similar to the one of the guy who developed the Klingon language for the movies!"
- hpodity, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quenya
Done, you owe me sex. - Kakumeikeahi, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3Don't you mean: "Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam"?
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3I think we finally saw one in Star Trek V in the brig.
- hpodity, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2I like how she said you don't speak a language in order to transmit information, but to join a group of people who speak that language, I've never thought of it that way but it's very true.
Dugg - Defiant001, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4Same thing here
- Myztry, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3At first I thought you were referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_TOS
- GreatSunJester, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2Oooo .. Esperanto -- a language only slightly less useful than Klingon! :)
- Zippo, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2Did you even read the article?
- supremedigguser, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2I got Klingon on tape.....what are you gonna do about it?
- Pburgdwller, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2http://translate.klingonreference.com/single.asp?w ...
not surprised. - EndouOuto, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2Another language that less than 1000 people speak
- thetruthis, on 05/22/2009, -2/+3If you can speak Klingon, you are a loser and have failed at life.
- shapiro500, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1Did you even read the article?
- hfactor, on 05/22/2009, -3/+4Klingon is not about loving Star Trek, it's about loving languages and playing with them.
- lordmike, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2Can she get college credit for that?
- pr0t0, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2I've always thought it would be cool if you could speak Elvish like in LOTR. Could someone invent that and get back to me when it's ready? Thanks.
- Klaatu14, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1It's even in the title of her book. Read the article before commenting.
- pinchduck, on 05/22/2009, -2/+2Mainly because defaulting on all of our debt seems like a really bad idea.
- phosphite, on 05/22/2009, -2/+2Today is a good day to die!
- hpodity, on 05/22/2009, -1/+1That's because the creators of the language never envisaged a situation in which people who speak klingon would be around a hot girl.
- a2zbob, on 05/22/2009, -2/+1I still don't like it. Since when do inventions have to be by 1 person.
- RealmDown, on 05/22/2009, -7/+3No restrooms were ever shown on ST:ToS which is why Kirk always had kilngons.
- a2zbob, on 05/22/2009, -6/+2I don't like how these are called "invented" languages. All languages are invented.
- MrDoug, on 05/22/2009, -7/+2What about Esperanto?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esperanto - MarineDigg80, on 05/22/2009, -9/+2Okay the fact that she became fluent in made up languages kinda tells me she has too much time on her hands but my question is this who the hell was paying her to do this? Is she a bored millionaire or did we taxpayers actually pay for her to learn this crap?
