- lofi4life, on 05/11/2009, -6/+36A refreshing change from the usual postcard scenes and overdone HDR that you see on digg.
- Snoogs, on 05/11/2009, -4/+27These pictures make about as much sense as this:

- linkedghost, on 05/11/2009, -7/+25Well of course, you can give a young child a camera and they will take pictures untill the card is full, theres bound to be a few good shots right. Well this is the same, give a blind man a camera, he snaps pictures at absolute darkness untill the card is full and these are what we get.
I'm not trying to be a dick here people, Just a realist. - inactive, on 05/11/2009, -3/+21Not seen - 200 close ups of a wall
- AndersenWatcher, on 05/11/2009, -3/+16...and I call this photo "Lens Cap."
- freedomwv, on 05/11/2009, -7/+18If these people are blind, how do they even know if the photos are turning out good or not?
- farfromsubtl, on 05/11/2009, -1/+8I feel terrible for laughing. Delightfully terrible.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/11/2009, -3/+10Couldn't help but think of the Saturday Night Live spoof commercial with Steve Wonder selling a camera:

- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -2/+6Buried for Mr Baby Man
- michellets, on 05/11/2009, -1/+5Agreed. These are really intriguing and beautiful shots.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/11/2009, -2/+6If you really feel the need to have a slideshow on a webpage, at least make it so that the entire page doesn't have to load again with each image...
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -6/+10What's the point?.Might as well get some monkeys to take the photos.
- DjOverEZ, on 05/11/2009, -0/+3I thought it was "I see said the blind man, to his deaf wife."
- Plumhead, on 05/11/2009, -3/+6These are really good, but I'm just really confused how these people are able to set up the shots and control lighting and everything.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3I'd be much more interested in seeing sculptures or ceramics done by the blind - that way you really *would* see a true aesthetic perspective, as opposed to random serendipitous shots.
I actually went to an exhibition of sculptures by the blind (done in plaster, if memory serves) a few years back, and it was just awesome. When you first went in, you couldn't t see the pieces because they were hidden behind a wall - but there were openings through which you could reach into the display to feel the texture and shape of each piece, just like the artist would have. You then went around the other side to see the pieces. They were mostly abstract, and you definitely get the sense that the expression is (for obvious reasons) focused on tactile rather than visual aesthetics: they looked pretty haphazard and boring, but were much more interesting and variegated to the touch. Good stuff. - sportbikepilot, on 05/11/2009, -3/+5what's next? music made by deaf people?
- grandinferno, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2Agreed. A lot of these people making comments have missed that one I thinkee...
- zjbird, on 05/11/2009, -0/+2Not really, it actually makes me stop wondering.
- Noliaboy75, on 05/11/2009, -5/+6This isn't from The Onion?
- kate0spencer, on 05/11/2009, -1/+2what's creepy.. it's amazing!
their shots are unbelievable..
and yes, it's very refreshing..
thanks for sharing mr. baby man.. - cougarmicrobes, on 05/11/2009, -2/+3Agree with the reader above.
hough some of these photos were indeed interesting looking and very impressive the wonders of digital technology means that they may have "blindly" taken a load of photos only to then chose the few that are in focus.
This doesnt detract from how good some of these pics looked - inactive, on 05/12/2009, -0/+1Great photos, but (1) How could they do that being blind? (2) Why would they bother to take pictures?
There's something there that I do not understand. - grandinferno, on 05/11/2009, -3/+4This guy Pete Eckert does some fantastic long exposure stuff. Gets torches, lasers and other light sources and creates some pretty good art. The thing about this guy is that he's been blind for almost 30 years, but obviously he could see earlier on in life... so this explains the ability to actually see something in his head and create it... but obviously he can't see the result. Pretty amazing though.
Electro Man and Looking Out are my faves. His stuff is here: http://www.peteeckert.com/photos.htm
Oh yeah. There are boobs in the link. No seriously... lol... Just thought I'd 'warn' users...
;) - joohobo5, on 05/11/2009, -0/+1Or of John Waters movie Pecker.
- 420Bane, on 05/11/2009, -0/+1Or maybe it's more about what they want you to see and the idea behind it, as observed in the shots of the man with AIDS.
- lennybird, on 05/11/2009, -0/+1I've recently began doing HDR photography myself. I'm not saying there isn't a time where HDR is great, but it must not be overdone. Otherwise, it looks like you're just using it to spice up an otherwise sub-par photo.
- irreverend, on 05/11/2009, -0/+1If you're so impatient that you can't sacrifice a little time to look at art, you really shouldn't be looking at it at all.
- DecoyQ, on 05/11/2009, -2/+3I see what you did there...
At least you can feel music by other means than your ears. Like was stated previously, this is just like a kid running around with a camera and taking the best shots. - dok333, on 05/11/2009, -2/+2I see said the blind man...as he picked up his hammer and saw
- yashicak, on 05/12/2009, -1/+1Un expected...
- WhoDoneIt, on 05/11/2009, -2/+2Assistant Professor in your photography class? I hope he doesn't mark your photos in a class assignment or offer constructive criticism.
- Lefts, on 05/11/2009, -5/+5The blind guy asks: What the hell is sepia?
- phosg, on 05/11/2009, -2/+2"he snaps pictures at absolute darkness"
It DID mention that some retained some limited sight, its moreover what catches their eyes, when they see differently than the majority of us. - museamongmen, on 05/12/2009, -1/+1Interesting gallery. Very surreal stuff.
- DjOverEZ, on 05/11/2009, -1/+1@TaylorStark
Kill yourself. - inactive, on 05/11/2009, -1/+1omg so refreshing! I'm going to go outside and close my eyes while I take photos. come on now...
- afgromeo, on 05/26/2009, -0/+0Well even if they snap picture of absolute darkness "like a child" I really admire this work, because they are very sensible even if blind human beings and they are not a "child" so it definitely gives these photos an artistic aura. :-)
- MorpheousMarty, on 05/11/2009, -1/+1Maybe blind monkeys, otherwise it really wouldn't be the same
- BingoPower, on 05/11/2009, -2/+2This is awesome.
I was expecting a bunch of pictures of walls and feet. - grandinferno, on 05/11/2009, -5/+5No. A dick.
- appleseed1234, on 05/11/2009, -2/+0Being blind and having autistic twins? That's rough.
- adev, on 05/11/2009, -4/+3This is great to see on Digg and Time. Kurt Weston was working on his Master's and as an assistant professor in my own photography class, and we shared another class together while in college. He is a wonderful photographer, so, it's great to see him making the mainstream news.
