- gourleyg, on 03/25/2008, -0/+4I am a professional photographer and have traveled to various remote regions of the world. Often I will have the honor of spending time with an individual/family to shoot their portrait using my pro camera. One of the things I have always done is to take a Polaroid or two of this person/family and give it to them immediately in appreciation of the time they spent with me. Then I hand the Polaroid camera over to them and let them take a shot of me to keep if they so choose. No matter what the age, they are always elated by the magic of seeing a picture emerge before their eyes. After getting their mailing address I'll eventually send them a print or two from my pro camera when back home. This of course can take months to get to them, if ever, considering the mail delivery systems in certain parts of the world. The Polaroid is all they may ever eventually get out of giving their time to a stranger. I had the chance to revisit a family in one of these far away places a year later and a Polaroid I shot of them was on their wall amongst a small handful of treasured family photos, etc. It was all they had and it moved me deeply. It drove home the point of being able to hand someone a tangible object at the moment of your meeting. You may never see one another again, but the visual moment of sharing will live on through the photo. Nothing can ever replace a hand shake or an embrace to acknowledge our common humanity. Nothing can ever replace a Polaroid photo. Please keep Polaroid alive so that we may continue to give to one another.

- fluffyfly, on 02/26/2008, -0/+3To lose Polaroid is to loose a cultural artifact. Polaroid is wonderful. It sickens me that all the great stuff eventually is lost.
- seantubridy, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2You don't think digital cameras produce garbage? How often do we get new digital cameras and throw away the old ones? Think about how many "useless" and outdated cameras are filling the landfills because they keep improving them. I'm still using my Polaroid SX-70 from 1972.
- sicoactiva, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Save polaroid!

Save Polaroid Film! - littlefingers, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1The end of innocence.
I dont think a society has ever needed more of an awakening than now, as we are destorying one of the truly great mediums of all time. Do we really think that something so fantastic and satisfying should be lost to posterity because of the lack in profits? Capitalism triumphs yet again.
Polaroid makes people smile, unlike what a more practical camera would do. Sure it would make our pockets smile, the photos and processing are so cheap.
But are we really happy?
Polaroid is/ was happy. - Irasemita, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1i love polaroid!!!!

- sarah716, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1Polaroid is my important eye. My Polaroid can use it perfectly. It is a camera, it is not just a box. Polaroid photo is one of arts, myself and must save it because of culture. Please do not forget it, a lot of artists came from analog photography. It has histories. We have to continuation and save it, too.
- kiwicola, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1I LOVE POLAROID~!!!!!!!!
- seantubridy, on 02/18/2008, -0/+1Sign the petitons is right! And visit the site and joint the flickr group. Write to Fujifilm and Ilford. Make stickers and fliers. Whatever it takes if you love instant film and want to keep it around for a long time.

- foofee, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Polaroid is an essential part of so many peoples lives and it needs to be experience by so many more generations of artists and photographers. We LOVE instant film and and don't want to see it fade away!
- lunaruna, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Polaroid makes new friends. There is no generation. If I had not Polaroid, I cannot talk with elders. I do not want to loose it. Polaroid came from past time and still making my life, will be future life as a camera. Please do not take my future life. It is mean kill my life. Do you want to be a killer, Polaroid? What is important? Do you have an answer? Digital is not new. Everyone doing it. Typical. Very falt.
- charleyfeher, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1Polaroid, ***** YEAH!
- texasguy, on 03/10/2008, -0/+1We all love Polaroid. Dr. Land is probably very uncomfortable at this moment. We need to take action. 1) Everyone needs to call Petters Group and protest the discontinuing of film production. And I do mean call. Now getting to the right person may take many calls; you know how that is. The number is 800-605-5364 and the names are: THOMAS J. PETTERS, CHAIRMAN & CEO; MARY L. JEFFRIES, PRESIDENT/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER. 2) If phone calls and letters don't help, the next reasonable step would be the initiation of a class action suit. Too many people are invested in Polaroid technology and to willfully discontinue a product that supports literally millions of devices--that they are still selling in many markets, I might add--is unconscionable. I walked into 15 stores today in Houston, TX that had NEW One600 cameras for sale (I have a lifetime warranty on mine--how about you?) So retailers are selling the cameras and in effect, selling obsolescence. Everyone affected--law enforcement, artists, doctors, insurance adjusters, coroners, collectors and just plain folks like you and I who NEED this product, we all must step up to the plate. And there must be many attorney's among us who would assist in the cause at no cost. This could be bigger news than the discontinuation of the film. Carry on!
- polaroid1love, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1SAVE POLAROID!!!!! PLEASE :(
- okto, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1I like that there was only one negative comment.

- iamjonshell, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1save instant film!
- mevaneyk, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1I am so sad to hear this about polaroid's plans to end production. I have become very attached to my own as a device for recording memories in situ. Several years back, I was given a polaroid camera and equipped with film for a trip to Europe. It was great because wherever I was, I could just take the photo and immediately paste it into my travel journal, which is something you could never do with film cameras or even now with digital photography. There is always that lag of time for developing film that sometimes puts off photo album making to the point that it doesn't happen! My polaroid was the best companion on this trip and such a useful tool for getting an image instantly to paste into my journal or even to give to new friends along the way to be remembered by. Ending its existence when there is so much interest in keeping it alive would be very tragic indeed.
- florski, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1if polaroid film is discontinued ill never finish my wall
they're the only photos which really connect to everyone
seriously - lalalettuce, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1Please. Please keep peoples dreams alive. Don't end this fantastic legacy. Polaroid is so individual and loved by SO MANY. How could you big business moguls do this to the people?!?! HOW SELFISH OF YOU! Do you think of nothing but money! Do you not care about people's joys in life!
I am utterly disgusted, and saddened by this selfish decision. - jennyarnoldpalm, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1SAVE POLAROID INSTANT FILM.
- tessalenore, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1you can't replace the quality of a polaroid with a photoshopped border and the lovely flaws polaroid sometimes has after a finished picture. please! polaroid saved my life because i had no idea what i was going to do; and then my dad bought me my first camera ever ten years ago which was a polaroid. i have no idea what i'd be doing with my life to this day without polaroid.

- Alcyonechris, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1save polaroid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- maritmn, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0I just purchased a Polaroid 600 film cartridge from my local "big discount store". Its kept under lock and key as customers are stealing/hoarding it now. There is a store sticker on the box stating that "if this product is found for sale at a location other than this particular big store, please call the store's 800 number.
I called the number out of curiosity, but was given a very vague explanation as to the meaning of the sticker. I thought perhaps this store was the exclusive distributor for Polaroid film. Not so, according to Polaroid Customer Service.
Anyway, I believe Polaroid pictures do have an important place in our culture despite the popularity of digital photography. One thing that could make Polaroid Instamatic photography more competitive, would be to make the film cheaper. Yes, cheaper. I know that sounds crazy to corporate moguls, but how much profit do you need? I have always thought this film was over-priced. Two cartridges cost more than I paid for the camera!
Perhaps another company can produce the film without demanding such huge profit margins. Just a thought. - okto, on 04/08/2008, -1/+1Spoken like a true chimper.
- atopic, on 03/05/2009, -0/+0Please
