SHRINES - A Photographic Collection by James Stark

jamesstark.com — You pass them along the roadside, shrines, crosses embellished with flowers, icons and carvings, sometimes alone, and sometimes there will be multiple crosses. All are reminders of the tragedies which took place there. The shrines are called descansos by Mexican-Americans, and they symbolize an "interrupted journey on the road of life."
