With an 18+ minimum admittance, my take on this is that this isn't the most wholesome kind of entertainment. I would also bet, that a large portion of the patrons are queer. Disgusting and perverse. Nothing more.

HISTORY OF PUPPETRY OF THE PENIS
Puppetry of thePenis was conceived by Simon Morley in 1996 as the title of a highbrow art calendar, showcasing twelve of his favorite penis installations (known as "Dick Tricks" to the uninformed layperson). Years before, Simon’s youngest brother had shown him his installation, ‘The Hamburger’. Natural sibling rivalry resulted in the evolution of a grand repertoire of genital gesticulations.
It was on New Year’s Eve in 1997, with a garage full of calendars to sell and burgeoning requests for live demonstrations, when Simon finally decided to unleash his talent on the world.
His natural choice of performance partner was David "Friendy" Friend, whose reputation as the life of any party was quickly growing. Friendy kept himself busy for most of the year, having created a solid business performing his repertoire of installations at Batchelorette/Hen’s night’s and private parties. As a young boy, Friendy began his Dick Trick career in the bath and developed his skills further when he discovered beer in college. After completing his degree in Computing, he returned to Melbourne with his own highly individual collection of hanging art. Together, Simon and Friendy’s solo "acts" became Puppetry of the Penis, and a global phenomenon was born.
Their debut at the 1998 Melbourne International Comedy Festival was a huge hit, kicking off an eight-month tour of Australia. The national tour covered 20,000 kilometers and was been captured in the documentary Tackle Happy.
Subsequent sell-out runs in Sydney and Melbourne encouraged the boys to take their wares to the 2000 Edinburgh International Fringe Festival, where they were humbled by yet another sell-out run. West End producer David Johnson realized the potential of the show after attending a performance where the woman sitting next to him wet her pants laughing. Contracts and mops were brought out, and a deal was made on the spot: PUPPETRY OF THE PENIS was on its way to London's West End.
Initially booked for a five-week run at London’s Whitehall Theatre, the overwhelming response led to numerous extensions. The show finally closed after an astonishing five-month run. Simon and Friendy became the darlings of the West End, delighting London’s A-list including Hugh Grant, Naomi Campbell, Elton John, Bono, Mel B and Mel C.
In September 2001, on the heels of a smash hit run in Toronto and a successful tour of Canada, PUPPETRY OF THE PENIS opened in New York at the John Houseman Theatre, where it played for over a year. By 2002 a second and third American company opened at L.A.’s Coronet Theatre and San Francisco’s Theatre on the Square. These two productions plus our international companies highlighted 2002 as being the phenomenal year when five companies started playing simultaneously worldwide.
The PUPPETRY OF THE PENIS juggernaut continues to gain momentum, with new companies opened Spain in 2003 and due to open in France in 2004 in their respective languages. In addition to the U.S., Germany, the U.K., Eire, New Zealand, Canada, The Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Australia have all played host to PUPPETRY OF THE PENIS. Meanwhile, US audiences maintain their love for PUPPETRY OF THE PENIS and our tour in 2008 continues to grow.

I don't see the ad as necessarily a 'gay' thing, but as making a mockery of those who hold a particular day in high esteem. I wonder if they run a promotional ad around the time of Ramadan called "ramdaama-ding-dong" or some such irreverent blathering. could it be because Muslims will beat their silly behinds down for such disrespect of one of their holy festivals, while Christians only feel pity for their folly?

It would have been some "justification" for their PREVIOUS CLAIMS (in other, earlier posts... of their benign interests, & their "NOT In Straight's Face" and their basic "peace-loving" & "Let's just get along" type of approach). They had a wonderful chance here in this issue, but... as usual, TW blew it (pardon the pun... definitely NOT intended, but unavoidable...!), again as his nature is helplessy abrasive. And his soul-mate, mlfoley has done the same thing. I wonder where all the other Queers & Queer-Lovers are, who claim to be a voice of moderation & reason... Why are they not denouncing this tasteless, gratuitous expression of perversity.
You Queers & Queer-Lovers have just lost all vestiges of a claim of being "ONLY interested in having 'equal rights' like the straights." We are all born with a "sin-nature" – a propensity to do evil. (Perhaps that is what you refer to as "your own deepest truths.") But being born sinful does not alleviate us from the responsibility and judgment for our sinfulness.
GOD is a holy God, and sinful man cannot exist in his presence. He is just, and will not allow sin to go unpunished. But, He loves us and has made a way for us wretched creatures to be saved from eternal punishment. The mighty GOD, the maker of heaven and earth, took on human form and came to earth to bear the punishment for our sins. He did that in the person of Jesus Christ, who died on that cruel cross so many years ago. He died, then rose again, to show that death will have no hold on those who trust Him. (This is what Easter is all about.)
Yes, God reached out to us, with pardon and reconciliation. But we must accept His most gracious offer. We must renounce our sins and resolve turn away from them. (We cannot willfully continue in sins that displease Him -- to do so is to reject His offer of salvation.) We must believe in our hearts and confess with our lips that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that we accept His sacrifice in our place. We must then be baptized, as He taught us. From then on, every day, we must pray and trust God to cleanse us from our sins and give us power to overcome them.
Alanocu, God loves you. I pray that you will reach out to Him and find the way to His forgiveness.

There is nothing erotic about it, ***** or otherwise. Furthermore, this is a humorous look at various manipulations of the flaccid penis. It is not a sex show. The Ad is black and white, and is not even prominent on the page or particularly noticeable. I have not seen the show, and probably won't be able to get a ticket, since this nutty talk show host's hysterical tirade will have the result of selling out all the houses, but I don't think it's really even a gay specific thing. And the Journal Sentinel is not "promoting" the show as this article falsely claims; they are simply running an ad that the theatre has paid for.
