- armor, on 05/21/2008, -14/+333Oh. I thought it said Porn.
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -9/+250I'm sure I'm not the only one to glance at that title and saw, "Porn through the ages". Damn, that would have been a hell of a lot more interesting.
- elefaint, on 05/21/2008, -2/+224Ehhh.. don't mean to be "that person", but "Prom Today" is completely inaccurate.. Of course there will always be someone who wears the racy dress, but 98% of people go the traditional route..
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -9/+181That article sucked... What is with all of the crappy divinecaroline.com articles making it to the front page?
- theholyraptor, on 05/21/2008, -3/+132So is the new trend on digg for articles insulting the "Generation Y" group? Third article I've seen today that grossly stereotyped and used extreme examples to make the current generation seem ridiculous compared to others. I'm sure teenagers these days might dress less modestly then the in the 50s but those pictures were a horrible representation.
- Bajayjay, on 05/21/2008, -20/+139I miss the 80's. The hair, the great clothes!! Girls that don't dress like whores.
- SilentRamble42, on 05/21/2008, -1/+119And yet, modern prom is not like that at all... other than that "drunk" part.
- MariaEspanol, on 05/21/2008, -5/+115I thought prom was a place where you spent 20 minutes having your picture taken, then headed off to a real party with people who aren't in high school (and aren't incestuously gossipy).
- flashthom, on 05/21/2008, -2/+87I'm pretty sure the young lady in the second '60s picture is actually a young man. She's totally rocking some beard stubble.
- kelly86, on 05/21/2008, -2/+82They forgot this one: http://www.tonyrogers.com/humor/ghettoprom/ghetto_ ...
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -5/+76I challenge someone to become completely awesome and make a Porn through the ages article. GO NOW.
- woofers07, on 05/21/2008, -17/+85Am I the only one that always sees Prom as "Porn"?
and yes I know what that probably means. - FrancoisLyon, on 05/21/2008, -0/+65drinking boone's farm, listening to depeche mode, cruising hollywood in a rented white limo, hanging out of the sunroof screaming "woo hoo" to motley crüe wanna-be's on the way to benihana. life defining events. wish i could pay to have memories erased.
- meandnips, on 05/21/2008, -4/+63Dugg for "poofy fluorescent dresses".
- LeeKrieger, on 05/21/2008, -4/+56how do parents let these girls out in public like that? did I just say that? man I am old
- kinghajj, on 05/21/2008, -5/+53I always thought that prom, along with other school dances, is highly over-rated. I only went to two high-school dances, both during my freshman year, and both were unpleasant. I'd rather just hang out with my friends.
- LanceWindu, on 05/21/2008, -0/+44http://media.funlol.com/content/img/ghetto-prom-ha ...
- Drahkar, on 05/21/2008, -2/+45Yea, I love how the author of the article made it sound like the getting sloppy drunk and the unprotected sex potentially leading to pregnancy is only happening now. That's been happening at Prom night for years. They just didn't write about it as much. I mean I doubt there is a guy who went to prom in their time who didn't plan on trying to get some prom night hanky-panky. Maybe they got it. Maybe not. But the thought and attempt have been there since the beginning.
Human beings like sex. Its a fundamental part of our existence. And while some religious groups love to paint it as the worst horror on the planet (Which has lead to the twisted and totally ***** up mindset in the US where its OK for kids to watch people get eviscerated in graphic detail but heaven forbid they see a boob.) and we end up with a bunch of kids that grow up into messed up adults either because they rebelled against their teachings and got pregnant as a result of it. Or they followed them to the letter and we have another batch of self-righteous loudmouths telling us what is right and wrong regardless of reality. - JasonMaloney101, on 05/21/2008, -2/+43ROFLCOPTOR? Is that you?
- Jeepy, on 05/21/2008, -4/+42Divinecaroline.com is the new Double Viking. Completely empty unoriginal content on a site that is obviously trying to sell me something.
- NJMeredith, on 05/21/2008, -1/+39'Carrie'. http://www.ica.org.uk/thumbnail.php?max=408&id=675
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -2/+37The 80's were like the middle-ages of fashion. Everything was ugly, even furniture.
http://backintheday.blogharbor.com/80s/images/chil ... - StigNordas, on 05/21/2008, -10/+43Prom is one of the few rights-of-passage we have as Americans, so I'm encouraged at its continued pagentry. After reading this, it seems that its never been easier to get laid on your prom night. If there are any high school males reading: You have it good! Us old farts had to plan, work and most often fail on prom night.
- tomwhughes, on 05/21/2008, -4/+36but why can't it all be on 1 goddamn page!!!
- GaidinTS, on 05/21/2008, -1/+33Dugg immediately before reading the post, because I thought it said "Porn Through the Ages"
- emildorbell, on 05/21/2008, -2/+34There's been a lot of this "kids today... / get off my lawn" mentality on Digg lately.
- MasteRR, on 05/21/2008, -3/+31Hey man, this is Digg. If it has boobies it must be true.
- haentz, on 05/21/2008, -3/+30The 70s looked cool.
- markthegoth, on 05/21/2008, -0/+26no, well of course except for all the people that commented saying that above you and the people that dugg those comments.
- dmiles3480, on 05/21/2008, -1/+27Nobody dresses like that in modern proms unless things have changed a lot since 05.
- Nollie2, on 05/21/2008, -0/+24DO NOT WANT
- toenail, on 05/21/2008, -2/+24i didnt go to prom either.. i hung out with some friends while my wife went to the prom with her friends... she wasnt my wife at the time of coarse so it looks like she forgave me
- porkdanish, on 05/21/2008, -0/+21Girl, don't listen to what that skank ho Laticia say. You look good!
- Zippo, on 05/21/2008, -0/+21What '80s are you thinking of?
- mal1964, on 05/21/2008, -0/+21I'm guessing your imaginary date wasn't that upset.
- DownkeyKowng, on 05/21/2008, -0/+19No, no, it was the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.
- mattlohkamp, on 05/21/2008, -9/+28I skipped my prom to go play counterstrike. No seriously.
- foolishfool, on 05/21/2008, -1/+19NO. There were no girls dressed like that at my prom ('01). Buried for building false hope in todays underclassmen.
- Zippo, on 05/21/2008, -1/+19Sucks to be you. I went to my prom, then got drunk with my girlfriend and friends and played games. Best of both worlds.
- dfsjdkflasjk, on 05/21/2008, -1/+19Dugg for "teenage boobs nearly popping out".
- chuckDontSurf, on 05/21/2008, -0/+18Damn, I'm not the only one.
- Asheis, on 05/21/2008, -1/+17dugg down for last entry.. some people might dress like this, but there are some really classy prom dresses (especially the ones at my prom.. 2005).
- JamesMorris, on 05/21/2008, -4/+20LOL i'm SURE it was.
- vidaliasweet, on 05/21/2008, -0/+14I thought pregnant women were supposed to glow, not burn your freaking eyeballs out!
- ventralnet, on 05/21/2008, -4/+18When i think of 80s prom i think of this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0 - LanceWindu, on 05/21/2008, -1/+15That's why I clicked it.
Boy, was I disappointed. :( - VinceNoir, on 05/21/2008, -0/+14True. There was more than one "80s". For some people it was hair metal, painters caps and smoking in the boys room (not me). For others it was those alligator preppie shirts with feathered hair and deck shoes (what did these people listen to?). For others it was eyeliner on guys, piercings, black dye and huge spikes of hair listening to bands like the Cure, Siouxie, and Japan (that was me).
My wife and I came to this conclusion in the 90s because we kept seeing these godawful compilations of "80s music" that had the suckiest crap ever on them. Stuff like "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night" - Corey Hart or "I Ain't Missing You at All" - John Waite or... (SHUDDER) "You're the Inspiration" - Chicago. We wondered where classics like "No More I Love Yous (the original, not the Annie Lennox remake) - The Lover Speaks, or "Madworld" - Tears for Fears (when they didn't suck and try to be the Beatles), or ANY Cocteau Twins song were. That's when it hit us... everyone experiences their own perception of a decade. Popular culture simply imposes certain generic norms that people who aren't imaginative latch onto.
Interestingly enough, I'm seeing that a lot of young kids are looking at the 80s just as some of my generation looked at the 50s and 60s: kitchy, fun, and at times interesting. I just love some of the 80s vibe (as long as it's not a rock rehash) going through some of the new music on the other side of the ocean. Props to Zippo for making the comment I responded to. - rayraym0fucka, on 05/21/2008, -0/+13Don't feel too bad, I think I was at work when my graduating class was at the prom
- KingGorilla, on 05/21/2008, -2/+15It took 2 pages to get to the joke?
