It was also a big thing in the '70s and I think we can safely say '70s fashion was terrible. Actually it was quite popular well into the '80s as well, which is sort of the type of look that is coming back today, although not necessarily using the same colors or materials.

    Lots of women skip the bra nowadays, but usually only women with smaller breasts. If they're bigger it's harder to pull that look off without it seeming a little gratuitous. Plus, bras help the fight against gravity and keep their shape, which we should be happy about.

    Plus as far as stretching, bras certainly help. It may not prevent it entirely but I'm sure having them supported for the majority of your life at least delays the inevitable.
