- noupsell, on 03/05/2008, -1/+19I had no idea they cut all those flying scenes from American Beauty
- inactive, on 03/05/2008, -4/+20So go see the movie and THEN if you don't like it boycott it? Makes perfect nonsense.
- jjones20, on 03/06/2008, -3/+17haha, so they want the fans to pay to see the "lesser version" of the movie, even though it isnt the version the fans want to see, and their reasoning is "dont ***** us" ? and they say fans should wait to boycott the company untill after they pay to see a movie that isnt what they wanted.
its almost like theyre begging for money here, its kind of sad actually. Like i actually give a ***** whether these guys get money or not, its their fault for doing the deal they did, and id say they are equally at fault for us not getting to see the movie we wanted to.
I wont be "giving it a chance", and their idea of boycotting the weinstein company after you see this movie, it doesnt make much sense to give them your money first and then boycott them does it? - TotalHalibut, on 03/05/2008, -5/+18Long story short, the guys want you to give it a chance, and boycott Weinstein if you don't like it. Which quite frankly is complete cop-out on the part of the creators. 'Hey, give it a chance so we can make some royalty money, and then boycott the company afterwards, which won't affect us in any way shape or form!'. Come on, do you really think playing the moderate line is going to make you look like anything less than utter sellouts at this point?
I for one will not be going to see this movie as a direct result of those changes. - Sassmo, on 03/05/2008, -1/+11Yeah... I'm almost interested in seeing the original cut now.
- billymonster, on 03/05/2008, -5/+14i love how the video ad for 21 works, but not the actual content.
great priorities guys! - pyro789x, on 03/06/2008, -1/+8Spoken like people who obviously don't care about their fans enjoying their work and folded under pressure from the big companies. They really just want money from the whole deal, they don't care about the viewers.
- TotalHalibut, on 03/05/2008, -5/+11Well I'm sitting on the site, the movie simply won't play. Why exactly did they not just throw it in the direction of Youtube? Ahh yes, that would stop the 9 advertising banners from making them any money :
- dylangaine, on 03/06/2008, -0/+5they are playing the game of not alienating their fans but still kissing the studios ass trying to get people into the theaters. they just come off looking spineless, better just to shut up if thats how they really feel.
- inactive, on 03/06/2008, -2/+6Best case scenario:
The movie is leaked and viewed for free online making it a loss for the studio and a loss for the creators who are obviously lacking in artistic integrity because they didn't have the balls to stand up and pull the project to keep it pure to it's concept. - TotalHalibut, on 03/05/2008, -5/+8Continued : And if you really poured your hearts into it like you attest, then you wouldn't have let New Line rape the storyline like that, you'd have pulled it, and kept your honor and dignity. So it's one or the other guys, which is it?
- gyrfalcon, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Yeah they're a bunch of shills.
- cinecity, on 03/06/2008, -1/+4it is if you click the subscribe button
- TotalHalibut, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3If they gave the full rights to New Line and can't release the original on DVD without New Line's backing, then fie on them for making a pants-on-head retarded commercial decision.
- riggs32, on 03/06/2008, -1/+4im just gonna pirate that ***** and not give them a cent. That way I can be fully qualified to bitch about it and not feel like i financially contributed to weinstein companies rape of this movie
- gyrfalcon, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2Probably the apple fanboys who get all iPMSing when anyone says anything about apple sucking ass.
- laskip, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2looks like the site is back up and working....
- rogerbly, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3watching #35 on Apple TV now
- cinecity, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3I just clicked subscribe on iTunes and it gave me episode 35 even though it isn't showing up in the list yet
- cinecity, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3no need it's back up
- inactive, on 03/05/2008, -2/+4Whew, just when I was saying to myself "hey, when is the next story about Fanboys going to hit Digg."
- HappyScrappy, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2Doesn't anyone ever type anymore? Why do I have to watch 9 minutes of video when I could read a text article in 45 seconds?
- carpeclunes, on 03/06/2008, -2/+4The fewer people that see the lesser version, the less of a chance there will be that they release the original on DVD.
- HappyScrappy, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2You saw the original cut.
There may have been extra scenes and a different script, but as they say in here, the storyline was changed during the editing process, not after it had a first cut.
I saw the only pre-screening of the movie and it was the final cut. Sam Mendes was there and mentioned about the ending having been reshot when asked why the ending didn't wrap up some stuff. He said they had to go back and reshoot the ending after the cut began (to change it), and that although he would have liked to reshoot the ending again, he wouldn't change the actual storyline of the ending, just he would have liked to change some of the particulars of the ending (like not have it be at night so you so you could more easily see Annette Bening crying). - airburst, on 03/06/2008, -2/+4What do they care? You saw the ad. Mission accomplished.
- jixx3r, on 03/06/2008, -2/+4I would have have appreciated it more if they just were honest that they cared more about money than making the film they wanted to make. What irks me the most is they said "This film was made for the fans", then how come you are letting the weinstein company change your film despite the fans outcry's. if you're gonna sellout, atleast own up to it.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -2/+4I've seen the movie and the cancer thread is the absolute heart and driving force of the movie. To cut it out is utter *****. Don't bother seeing it if this hack-job is allowed to stand. There won't be any reason to.
- inactive, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Totally agree...
- noupsell, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1 troll - back under your bridge
- Dreyruugr, on 03/05/2008, -2/+3Episode #35 isn't availabe on iTunes.
- gyrfalcon, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1They have no dignity... I registered on that crap site just to tell them to get bent.
- saigumi, on 03/06/2008, -2/+3"Holywood is full of this, and some of the best movies have gone through crazy face lifts, and turned out pretty good."
Alright, I am going to sell you a Lamborghini. Except, before I give it to you, I'm going to pull out the motor, replace it with a 2 cylinder, swap the frame out with one from a 1983 Ford Escort, and replace the rest of the car with parts of a 1980 K except for the top of the stick shifter, that will be the only part kept from the Lamborghi.
Oh, but I'm going to charge you a Lamborghini price.
Fair enough, eh? - jasbur, on 03/06/2008, -2/+3Has anyone even considered that it might be better with the re-cut? I mean, American Beauty is one of my favorite movies of all time. There's no way to know for sure, but I bet a court room drama might not have had the same impact.
- FatLoser, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2I think you mean MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
- thatchimp, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1NewLine? what the hell do they have to do with anything.
- spudnic, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1The difference there is that was more a change in how the story was told than a complete change in the events.
- bonk2k, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1I think the American Beauty defense of theirs is really the only thing keeping me from completely saying "***** you guys, and your ***** movie" But I am awfully close.
- TotalHalibut, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1There's a cleancut difference between an arbitrary decision and a decision based on personal principles. Principles like 'selling out is bad, punish those who do it'
- lordofthetoast, on 03/06/2008, -3/+3those ***** made me want to see the movie even less.
- eyelark, on 03/06/2008, -3/+3The key difference between the cutting of Fanboys and American Beauty is the plot changing nature of said cuts. While interesting, cutting the backstory of Frank Fitts doesn't detract anything from American Beauty but in turn enhances it. The same cannot be said for Fanboys.
Sorry producers, you won't get any money out of me until this is resolved.
You sell outs. - Otto, on 03/06/2008, -3/+3Yeah, you know what? ***** those guys. Sorry, but after reading about that *****, the movie has essentially no chance in hell of being seen by those people who wanted it to be made in the first place.
Sellout *****. - DangerDee, on 03/06/2008, -2/+2How do you suppose they stand up when it is a negative pick up? Another tough guy behind his keyboard who doesn't even pay attention or know the term and why it is now out of their hands.
- slambert90, on 03/06/2008, -2/+2Yeah he was involved in some website, you might have heard of it. It's called www.digg.com
- Glugory, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1The problem here is that the cancer thread is what truly gives the plot purpose. What is it without that? A couple of morons trying to get a peek at the newest Star Wars. With the cancer plot it's a tale of perseverance and the lengths people will go for their true friends.
- HappyScrappy, on 03/06/2008, -2/+2I think you're making arbitrary decisions. Especially since it's likely you've never seen either alternate version of either movie.
- Midnighter, on 03/06/2008, -0/+0They remind me of Vic and Cougar from the Meth Minute 39.
"Don't boycott the movie, man, 'cause you'll just be ***** us!" "You tell em Cougar." - rengeek, on 03/06/2008, -6/+5buried for being quicktime/itunes only
- Glugory, on 03/06/2008, -3/+2Why is this guy getting dugg down? iTunes sucks.
- inactive, on 03/06/2008, -2/+1Somebody might care just a wee bit too much about this....
Just sayin'. It's not like we were looking at Citizen Kane being raped here. -
