- XPpro, on 01/05/2009, -1/+71A link to the front page of the NY Times would be nice
http://www.nytimes.com/indexes/2009/01/05/pageone/ ... - Surferess, on 01/05/2009, -1/+38Wow! Now that really says something. . . and not something good.
- Bloake, on 01/05/2009, -1/+20Looks like they're on a pinch too.
- sjbdallas, on 01/05/2009, -7/+24Surprised it wasn't an ad for Obama collector plates.
- quato, on 01/06/2009, -1/+12Seeing as most people here heard about this story from the internet, it's no wonder newspapers like the NY times are desperate for revenue.
- glhf, on 01/06/2009, -1/+11What is this non-biased paper you speak of? The only non-biased paper I know of is blank paper.
- poprocksandsoda, on 01/06/2009, -12/+21I still love the coin set ... if you voted for Obama you should buy it. It's the only actual "Change" Obama will bring.
- adiggityam, on 01/06/2009, -4/+10Sucks. But they have my sympathy.
- CrushThemTorg, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5Or people that think posting lyrics to a song is:
1. A huge waste of space for something that can be summed up in a sentence and a link.
2. Retarded. - techguru2006, on 01/05/2009, -2/+7Gotta monetize anyway possible.
- jjamminjon, on 01/06/2009, -2/+7BREAKING: Recession requires New York Times to need cash.
- SemiSarcastic, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4"What the hell, I have to turn the pages on this thing!? Wait...This thing has ads in it!? LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE!? THIS ***** IS OUTRAGEOUS!"
- spookyttws, on 01/06/2009, -3/+7Wait, Print Media is still relevant?
But all jokes aside, I get both the LA Times and Orange County Register(obviously I'm from Southern California), I had no idea the NYT didn't accept front page ad's, it seems like a no brainer. - cathpah, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4no *****. how stupid is it that both the article was written without an image, or at least a link TO an image of said NYT cover....AND the subby didn't link it anywhere?!
- Cattywampus, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4I do, occasionally... it's lightweight, portable, doesn't need batteries or an AC plug, and never crashes or needs a software upgrade.
- DeskFlyer, on 01/06/2009, -5/+9Hey they're finally catching up to the internet.
- SemiSarcastic, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3@odigity oh, as if those bloggers don't have an agenda either.
- rossnyc, on 01/05/2009, -4/+7What is the world coming to?! ZOMG!!
- Johnagain, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4oh, NOW the repubs are out... Where were you before Nov 5 when Digg was one giant Obamanation?
I think he will provide much needed leadership, and bring respectability back to the office that it has not had for 16 years. That's a good thing.
All we have to do is prevent him from making us all socialilsts... Socialists that are $5Trillion in Debt.... - theimacguy, on 01/06/2009, -2/+5Yea, they're a commemorative town hall plate set. However, they're all blank. I think you can order them for QVC.
- DaviDTC, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Don't worry, that will be the next submission.
- Mockylock, on 01/06/2009, -2/+4I used to work at The Washington Post, and they're all getting hit hard. Aside from USA Today and a couple other non-biased papers, they're all getting crushed. I think they're waiting for a lot of the other papers to start charging more for online content before going full-on. It will only work for local news, but it's inevitable that they're going to start charging more for online content.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -2/+4The US government will soon be selling ad space on the Constitution.
- carbonfilament, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3In an era when many people use the internet for news - and many reference blogs or slanted media outlets as news, its disappointing to me that another respected news source has to revert to this. I hope it doesn't portend the future slanting and downfall of the NYT.
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2too bad your mom collects Obama memorabilia. Is that why you are so self-loathing?
I guess she's tired of those little white boy dicks. She sure does love ***** us big black guys tho - your momma couldn't get enough of my big black ***** in that hotel gangbang when she got 4 of us off at the same time. - Cattywampus, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2@odigity - Good thing there's Digg (and the Web in general) to give us lies that are sanctioned by anonymous, often unskilled bloggers!
- shig, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Who can forget the Paulinist purges, and the free market archipelago?
- polypropglop, on 01/06/2009, -1/+2Paper 2.0 savvy people.
- jjamminjon, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1I hear digg is in deficit mode too.
- adiggityam, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1They're still virtually broke. I doubt this was a happy decision for them.
- MrBabyManSTFU, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Now they are hard at work trying to figure out how to make them flash and put a dancing baby in them.
//oh god please no. - alankem, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1ZING
- fcruz1331, on 01/06/2009, -2/+3It sad to see how much turmoil the newspaper industry is going through. I love reading the paper and it's sad to see that someday people might not know what a newspaper even is.
- jmoh, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1I visited the website, and it sucked. really.
- SemiSarcastic, on 01/06/2009, -1/+2People don't want to read stories being reported by well rounded people. They want to read stories written by people who have either never been outside of their hometown in their lives, or are out of their ***** minds...like them I guess.
- MScrip, on 01/06/2009, -8/+9Did anyone else misinterpret the article to mean "full-page" ad? I was expecting to the the whole page as one ad... sorta like a cover page.
- RSterkenburg, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1Doesn't look like it, no.
Also: Won't
Also: ? - CrushThemTorg, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1HOW WILL I FIND THAT NEW PAIR OF CUTE BOOTS?
- Mockylock, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1The amount of Biased content in USA Today compared to NYT or LATWP is like comparing a coloring book to the Bible.
They also sell quite a bit of papers to Travellers, as opposed to others. - BowieX, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1first?
- CrushThemTorg, on 01/06/2009, -1/+2They'd be ridiculed if they sought a bailout. It would look terrible to be beholden to the government and they'd effectively be a state-owned media outlet.
I'm sure the rest of us would realize that nothing would probably change, but journalists really, really care what other journalists think. It's why, up until recently, newspaper coverage (beyond the day-to-day necessities) was focused on winning awards. Nowadays it's all about giving out user-generated content handjobs to people who submit cute pictures of squirrels and kids sledding. - SemiSarcastic, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1Solution: let God and Jesus become President and let robots run the newspapers. Jesus and God love us and can do us no wrong and the robots will have no need to be bias because they'll be emotional less drones!
- drummerbrother, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1This doesn't seem unusual to me. In New Zealand our national paper has been running ads across the bottom of the front page for ages. Doesn't take up much space, and brings in the revenue. Makes sense.
- DeskFlyer, on 01/06/2009, -2/+2Sarcasm detectors apparently out of order tonight I see.
- moonface, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1For a newspaper company that constantly promotes environment-friendly government, commercial, and public policies in its articles, New York Times should be happy that they are selling less printed copies. Less physical copies sold = more trees saved = cleaner air, more carbon sinks, less top soil erosion, etc. Hell, they should be encouraging people not to buy their newspapers, at least not in the physical format.
- groo68, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1since when can your god and Jesus do no wrong? i remember something about some angel Lucifer.
- Coy0te, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1I guess the people digging down aren't Aussie.
- nkonemann05, on 01/06/2009, -0/+0Paper media obsolete? NY Times is obsolete.
