- replaysMike, on 03/01/2008, -0/+18Would have been nice if the website you posted had more than 2 pics on it - instead of the 40 you teased me with. Follow the link on the website for a few more.
- willk281, on 03/01/2008, -0/+13you just couldn't link to the original story, could you?
shameless, self-promoting spam. - unique172, on 03/01/2008, -0/+10I went to Turkey a few years ago and was fascinated with the patterns I saw there. I did some work my senior year trying to recreate some of them. If you're interested:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JX3VmDgiFnY - robwowjo, on 03/01/2008, -0/+5math is truly nature's art form, in more ways than one!
- goffy59, on 03/01/2008, -0/+5Not enough violence or sex? Go back to TV sheep.
- MadOtaku, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4I'm an engineering major and I have to appreciate the coolness of mathematical art. Maybe you didn't like it 'cause you only saw the 2 pics they posted. You can find more in the site linked at the bottom of the article.
- JointheArmy, on 03/01/2008, -1/+4Hell of alot better than that ASCII Art popping up everywhere.
- Klepto21, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3Graph:
y = i^(xy^2)
set the limits to -1 ≤ y ≤1 and -1000 ≤ x ≤ 1000 - bliz, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3I'm a CS major and I think that more credit should be given. How many maths majors can even solve a two year conjecture, not to say the 20 years proof in the article.
- bthug7, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2Bit of a letdown...
- FlagrantDrugUse, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2Quite beautiful, nice work.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2Boing Boing is almost automatically blog spam. http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20080216/matht ...
- afbase, on 03/01/2008, -2/+4I'm a math major and i have to give this a "ok this is stupid" tag
- b3owulf, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2This is lame.
- merlinxlr, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3how did this hit the front page?

- Versh, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1My mathematical mind can see the breaks
So I'm gonna stop riding the brakes
No no no no more ride the brakes.... - LastSight, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1needs more detail
- timrob, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I agree that the 2 works of art that are shown are quite boring. But if you follow the link, then link again to the artist work, there are some quite interesting pieces of art. Funny that BoingBoing had the first piece shown as landscape, when in fact, if you look on the artists actual website http://www.bridgesmathart.org/art-exhibits/jmm08/b ... it was a portrait orientated picture. It's like viewing the Mona Lisa on its side.
The link to the exhibition website: http://www.bridgesmathart.org/art-exhibits/jmm08/ - inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I am more interested in those numerical landscape paintings done by Daniel Tammet but as far as I know he only released the one of pi. What gives?
http://www.optimnem.co.uk/artwork.php - greenchipmunk, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1The story itself wasn't thrilling, but the other pictures linked from the actual site were kind of nifty.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1As a traditional artist, I immediately wrote off fractal art as lame. Then I started reading about it and found it absolutely fascinating. When you start realizing a lot of the patters reflect that of nature and the things that surround us, it becomes more important. It's truly an amazing art form that is unfortunately overlooked in the art world.
- mv10, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I know that the Math behind it is probably much more than any of us can understand, but .. I'm just not impressed. I expected some amazing stuff. Unimpressed.
- MadOtaku, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1That's really interesting; thanks for sharing!

- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+0Hmmmm...there seems to be a theme with that art, but I can't quite put my finger on it......
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+0If you want mathematical art, just watch winamp visualizations
- kazmaslanka, on 03/03/2008, -0/+0I happen to be one of the artists in the show. I find all of your comments very interesting. And I agree with most criticism however, most of the work requires you know something about math. Furthermore, I think what is lacking in this genre is some criteria for judging it. I am one of the few whose work is more artistic than mathematical. In my opinion most of the work is more mathematical than artistic. So my question to you all is what is the difference between math and art?
Thanks!
Kaz Maslanka - xemaqadsan, on 03/01/2008, -1/+0well i know most people on digg never one of those... muah ah ah, hate me for that
