- uptwolait, on 02/02/2009, -6/+80Sounds like an excellent spot for my dog to pee.
- skjalff, on 02/02/2009, -0/+59wow, I'm kinda surprised at so many negative comments. I take it neither of you ever walked on moss bare-foot. It feels good.
Also, moss!=fungus and believe it or not it feels dry - inactive, on 02/02/2009, -0/+52Honestly this seems like a decent idea, but I have a few questions before I run out and grab one:
1) Won't soap eventually kill it?
2) I live in a very damp area, it sees like mushroom would love this as a home, is that a problem with this kind of mat?
3) Is it a breeding ground for mold?
4) My cats would us it like a litter box (I'm assuming they would, 'cause they LOOOOVVVEEE planters), so is there anything I can do to keep them off?
5) How much is it again? I'm sorry I'm not paying $400 for a bath mat.
6) How many years should I expect to get out of my mat? I'm hoping that it is forever if it does cost $400. - thscientist1, on 02/02/2009, -5/+54I want a turtle with moss on its back as my bathroom mat.
it has to be over 300 years old - Sneezyx, on 02/02/2009, -0/+45Yeah, I hate those meat bathmats, especially the bacon ones.
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -1/+42moss dont require much light to grow. water is the main source of their growth. having the light on only when you're in the shower will suffice.
- cromulent742, on 02/02/2009, -2/+39You're not supposed to ask questions, just swipe your credit card. That's the American way.
- AnGryTreE, on 02/02/2009, -3/+35And by October it's ready to smoke.
- ByronT, on 02/02/2009, -2/+34I like turtles.
- BaronVonZ, on 02/02/2009, -7/+35How in the hell do you spend $400 on foam and mold?
- Halsfield, on 02/02/2009, -0/+26what kinds of bacteria thrive in your bathroom already ?
- mmittimm, on 02/02/2009, -0/+19That's the point. She's trying to find backing so that she can produce them for cheaper than that.
- superfusion, on 02/02/2009, -2/+21Fred Flinstone had one of these. Oh, that was a dinosaur.
- Halsfield, on 02/02/2009, -0/+18dont confuse moss with mold.
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -1/+19Damn I read the headline as "MAN made of moss stays alive with the help of bath water"
I was disappointed. - Stoyanov, on 02/02/2009, -6/+24Water? You mean like outta the toilet?
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -0/+16Actually some kinds of moss can be used to stop bleeding from large wounds
- chelbell, on 02/02/2009, -4/+19Why? It's just moss, have you never stepped on it outdoors?
- LeonidasStokely, on 02/03/2009, -0/+15My thoughts exactly, I would love something like this in my bathroom!
- mushoo, on 02/02/2009, -1/+16Stupid, just pour Brawndo on it! It's full of electrolytes.

You you use your bathmat as a jizzrag? - dandandantheman, on 02/02/2009, -0/+13The idea isn't perfect, but it is pretty neat. Incorporating nature into design and into functional things is where we need to move.
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -0/+12Chlamydia.
- No1nose, on 02/02/2009, -1/+13Dugg for Idiocracy.
- Krumm, on 02/02/2009, -1/+11That's not what they crave...
- FLarsen, on 02/03/2009, -0/+9I think you might have misunderstood veganism.
- jayrokk, on 02/02/2009, -3/+12£220? I'll take six!
- syncan01, on 02/02/2009, -0/+9No, cool.
- saikyan, on 02/02/2009, -0/+8I think my python would like this thing. Good for humidity.
- MrTankJump, on 02/03/2009, -0/+7You have a prostitute in your bathroom?
- BaronVonZ, on 02/03/2009, -0/+7Not direct light. As a green plant that derives its sugars from photosynthesis you can be assured it requires some amount of light.
- Kyan, on 02/03/2009, -0/+7I rinse before stepping out of the shower...and the water in my house is filtered pretty well.
But I did see on another Digg submission that there is an internet connection in some remote African village. Welcome to Digg. - mason215, on 02/02/2009, -4/+11cool?
- pkon, on 02/02/2009, -3/+10"Miss Nguyen is looking for financial backing so she can mass produce the mat for less than the £220 it cost her to make"
Oh man, I mean the idea is pretty neat and all but ~400 Canadian for it? :( Even if it was cut down to $300, that's still pretty expensive. - Halsfield, on 02/02/2009, -1/+8moss=/=mold
- Xvash2, on 02/02/2009, -1/+7Growing and shipping?
- ChileanGoD, on 02/03/2009, -1/+7From now on, every time I will go to the woods I will not see moss but square foots of money.
- gunderoo, on 02/03/2009, -0/+6eh, it's a living
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -3/+9What are you talking about? Bacon is good in all its forms!
- Schmapdi, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6Maybe - but alot of moss is incredibly hardy stuff (think of how often you see it in cracks in ashpalt and other inhospitable locations) I'm betting with a good watering or two it would spring back if it did die.
- ZenNemesis, on 02/03/2009, -0/+5Yeh and look where it got you.
- bongo, on 02/03/2009, -1/+6People, please, it's not a $400 bath mat. It cost her that much to make a prototype, the thing is not for sale yet.
- FLarsen, on 02/03/2009, -0/+5Spores might be deposited there, just like on a regular mat, but I doubt it can grow there.
- Tobey, on 02/03/2009, -0/+5Yeah... It really doesn't.
- ChileanGoD, on 02/03/2009, -0/+5Zoiberg is such a crafty consumer.
- assasinine, on 02/03/2009, -0/+4Dugg for kankles.
- gwellington, on 02/02/2009, -2/+6that's quite the heifer in that photo
- QubitTarutaru, on 02/02/2009, -3/+7It wont grow dangerous mold in addition to the moss, right?
- solidsnake1298, on 02/03/2009, -1/+5If you didn't know, moss grows on the shady side of trees. Meaning that it doesn't require or want any light.
- SwitchBoardCo, on 02/03/2009, -1/+4i feel assured
