- midoritsuru, on 01/16/2008, -1/+24I've never really been an avid comic book reader but I have to give props when they're due. Excellent and varied work!
- solidus636, on 01/16/2008, -0/+21Ironman with the Black Sabbath shirt was awesome!
- psychotron, on 01/16/2008, -0/+21Can someone define the term Bohemian for me? Because I hear "Bohemian" and my brain instantly says "Douche Bag". These drawing are pretty neat...so Bohemians can't be douche bags right?
- allaboutdatiki, on 01/16/2008, -1/+19this is just freakin' awesome. Stan must be proud.
- Mikey9oo, on 01/16/2008, -0/+14A bohemian is someone who has informal and unconventional social habits. Not sure this applies to all these artists, but it translates to their unconventional renditions of Marvel superheroes.
- jphicks, on 01/16/2008, -0/+9Wow. Let"s see....my stick man artistic talent doesn't quite compare.
- lekahe, on 01/16/2008, -0/+7Wonderful!
- SaladCactusKing, on 01/16/2008, -0/+7Seeing all the credit in these tributes go to Stan and none to Jack Kirby makes me sad.
- sfacets, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6The term bohemian was first used in the nineteenth century to describe the untraditional lifestyles of marginalized and impoverished artists, writers, musicians, and actors in major European cities. Bohemians were associated with unorthodox or antiestablishment political or social viewpoints, which were often expressed through extramarital sexual relations, frugality, and/or "voluntary poverty". (From Wikipedia)
Not sure how it applies here. - luke16, on 01/16/2008, -1/+6Amazing, makes me want to doodle in my sketchbook but i've got to study -_-
- pmctosh, on 01/16/2008, -0/+5Very impressive group, all i can say is wow.
- Eldorian, on 01/16/2008, -0/+5That's pretty sweet.
- icegoddess13, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4Absolutely amazing! I really liked the ones with SpiderToast and Magneto...haha, he's a chick magnet :)
- ran24, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3I've always liked alternate Marvel universes, like in the House of M, Zombies or the Ultimates timeline. Seeing more reinterpretations is great. I especially like the first Doom picture, it looks like something MF Doom would use for an album cover.
- mrman2787, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3amazing. I would buy some originals if i could.
- socialpyramid, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3I've been a fan of Stan Lee since Mallrats. Such a good sport
- mlvassallo, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3One of those is Poison Ivy.... Not a Marvel character. Some of these are amazing though.
- har0ld, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2So expressive.
- Sommerlost, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2ah, this made my day
- KingGorilla, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2Just frame it and call it bohemian
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2I like that one too. I sat there for a sec and then "I am Iron Man" came to mind...
- Nerfdude, on 01/16/2008, -1/+3more punisher please.
- dafragsta, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2As I was just informed by someone at work. What's the point of saying "bohemian artists" then? Is that to imply they have no specific style? Sounds like a ***** word in the realm of art since the idea is to push the envelope whenever possible. It sounds like it says more about the artist, which definitely makes it a ***** word.
- GeyserShitdick, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2Nowadays they're called Czech artists.
- dafragsta, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2I can't believe you just posted that.
- buzmcg, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2Very imaginative!
- edwartica, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2I wish people would stop tossing around the term "Rhapsody" as well. Boo, hiss, bad joke. Really bad joke - I wish I could digg myself down for it!
- PixelEater, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2In after highly anticipated remark.
- sfacets, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2Saying that there is a Bohemian style is an oxymoron.
- xthroughmyeyesx, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2Dugg for Venom drawn as a killer octopus looking creature.
- Kronos6948, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2I take it you don't get the reference?
- sfacets, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2"Bohemia" is out of context here.
- BSX98, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2I wish people would stop tossing around the term bohemian. It's so often misused, and It doesn't apply at all here.
- Soup4Brains, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Dugg just for that first Iron Man picture.
- bigbran45, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Anyone else see the Burger King on Stan Lee's nose in that pen sketch?
- cutebutnerdy, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1I want them all, I love artwork, you can visualize the work like no one else can, because your vision is your own. I would like to speak with the Artist, I'm sure he can blow my mind
- dafragsta, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1I'd pay $50 for a book like the Giger portfolio with these inside in the same poster form.
- tian2992, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Unless it's XKCD...
- ran24, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1Haha, I didn't get that picture until now. It was still an amusing pic even without understanding the reference.
- dafragsta, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1I never realized what constituted "bohemian" but now that I do, I've always liked that style. I guess that makes Tim Burton's style very bohemian.
- kidjay, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1its a bad ass collection...pricy, but bad ass. unfortunately, there won't be any prints other than the two pieces that have prints available.
hopefully they're gonna do a book though. - gamemaster357, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1i wish i had talent :[
what i love about these pictures is, no matter how warped with another's inspiration, anyone, child or adult, knows who they are - hackysackmaster, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1incredible, funny, and inspiring, huge digg from me
- akent22, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1There are so very many pieces in this that I would happily waste a whole paycheck on. Sadly, it would probably take more than one paycheck...
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1lmao keyboardist looks like rick wakemen, guitarist like pete townsend, bassist has to be tony levin with his funk sticks
- lupuz2k, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1so, watcha' doin' on digg then? :)
... most likely same as me, procrastinate :( - gasin, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1I actually was going to comment on that. The artists, the style ARE NOT bohemian! most of them are very contemporary and they seem to be influenced by everything from anime to bohemian to art nouveau and art deco. But they are definitely not bohemian.
- Player1, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1It was a joke.
- edwartica, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1If I had a drawing in that show, it would be of Tony stark holding a smoking gun, while standing over Captain America's dead body.
TONY STARK KILLED CAPTAIN AMERICA! - kingkao, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Some great artists here that I just love.
Angry Woebots and Greg "Craola" Simkins, some great work. -
