for those of you, like me, who had no ***** clue was the hell a "danboard" is. The article doesnt explain it and no one in the comments was asking, so i tracked this down, i guess everyone just assumes that people know what the hell it is. - prettychristy, on 10/19/2009, -7/+111These pictures will warm any heart no matter how cold.
- InquisitiveCT, on 10/19/2009, -3/+45Danboard, more then meets the eye.
- rft3rd, on 10/19/2009, -5/+38at first i was going to come off with some off hand comment about how gay this is and a WTF is a danboard, but after actually looking at these photos and seeing the though and time that was put into these, I am quite beside myself.
For some reason the one where the figure is looking up at as the rain comes down really speaks to me (in a totally non emo kinda way) - Velocity14, on 10/19/2009, -0/+33I feel so let down. I thought this was a photographer's own creation of a little cardboard guy. I wanted it to be... because that is a much more unique idea than using an already manifested trademark.
Aww... shucks... (The emotive quality still stands, though.) - alanic, on 10/19/2009, -2/+33AWESOM-O~!
- chicagohouse, on 10/19/2009, -4/+21Says the boy on Digg with no friends
- themastersb, on 10/19/2009, -1/+13I liked the part where it said © ARI PHOTOGRAPHY
- cawfee, on 10/19/2009, -4/+16I don't think you'd be too happy if you found work of yours re-printed or re-posted in a magazine or article without any credit or reference to you.
- cawfee, on 10/19/2009, -3/+14No, but then you're willfully going out of your way to obscure the origins of the image so the original creator can't be credited, and that's on an entirely different level.
- Willow01, on 10/19/2009, -1/+11Dugg for Wall-E
- PiRATE7, on 10/20/2009, -0/+9whats a danboard?
- InquisitiveCT, on 10/20/2009, -1/+9I apologize for my grammatical misuse of the word "then". Thank you for bringing to my attention the proper word that I should have used.
- Lasereth, on 10/20/2009, -0/+8I'll be honest, this is the first time I've ever seen the word danboard. What the hell is a danboard?? Looks like cardboard to me.
- AmericanGunner, on 10/20/2009, -0/+6ARI PHOTOGRAPHY
- Llanowar, on 10/19/2009, -1/+7He is probably selling prints of those. So the watermark just protects his work from being printed/sold by others.
- terminal157, on 10/20/2009, -1/+6I have to partly agree with askantik. A watermark is one thing, but to have them be that bright and right in the middle of the picture? It's very distracting and takes away from my enjoyment of the photos. If that's not true for you, congratulations, but I doubt my experience is uncommon. It's a valid criticism.
- cfisavant, on 10/20/2009, -0/+5©
- tinkafoo, on 10/19/2009, -1/+6Do they make one based off Metal Gear Solid?
! - toshiro7, on 10/20/2009, -0/+5These photos need more watermarks.
- saucypony, on 10/20/2009, -0/+5My guess is at least one of her parents is a photographer. She's got her hands on some glass for being so young...
- ureshiidesuka, on 10/19/2009, -2/+7comes from a manga called "yotsuba&" or "yotsubato"
- eviljolly, on 10/19/2009, -1/+6It's like throwing a rib-eye in the microwave!
- fragMasterFlash, on 10/20/2009, -0/+5Whoever took those photos was quite talented. I hope it was actually the girl doing this on her own and not a helicopter parent 'helping'.
- askantik, on 10/20/2009, -0/+5Prepare to join me in being buried into oblivion. The response we were supposed to have is, "OMFGZ, THESE R TEH AWESOME!!1"
- justnisdead, on 10/20/2009, -0/+5xsi's take great pictures, and you can't beat the 50mm 1.8.
- killerhammy, on 10/19/2009, -1/+6I just had a cutegasim
- SurlyDuff, on 10/20/2009, -0/+4She said she was using an XSi, though she doesn't mention the lens. Based on the aperture, I would argue it's a fixed focal length f/1.8 lens, like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-50mm-1-8-Camera-Lens/d ... . It's cheap and awesome; hell, I just bought it for my T1i about a week ago:)
- fmwww, on 10/19/2009, -10/+14Interesting article....
- jeremy111, on 10/20/2009, -0/+4One of those has been my wallpaper for 2 months, good to finally know the creator.
- 3rdDay, on 10/19/2009, -5/+9Sweet.
- Awwzm, on 10/19/2009, -5/+9These are great. I wish I could get some higher res versions.
- x1300, on 10/19/2009, -1/+5What lens and camera is she using?
- Opiebreath, on 10/20/2009, -0/+3I appreciate your honesty.
- 4rp4n3t, on 10/20/2009, -0/+3*she
- MrWally, on 10/20/2009, -0/+3Anyone know where I can get my hands on a danboard like that? A quick search on Amazon didn't really yield any results :(
- Garciat, on 10/20/2009, -2/+5than*?
- lornefs, on 10/20/2009, -0/+3Who cares, it's cardboard.
- orijimi, on 10/19/2009, -1/+4Just what i was wondering. ***** Viz translations or something.
- GraceHead, on 10/20/2009, -0/+2what danboard is.
- Mujokan, on 10/19/2009, -4/+6How did "danbo" become "danboard"? Danbo[ru] already = corrugated cardboard...
- ultraseamus, on 10/20/2009, -0/+2Danboard Danboard Danboard Danboard
- cfisavant, on 10/20/2009, -0/+2I assumed it was the little guy's name.
- x1300, on 10/20/2009, -0/+2Yes I know my comment wasn't aimed at her not buying expensive gear, it was at how amazing her results are just with a basic kit.
- Llanowar, on 10/20/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I noticed that later. But was too late to correct.
- Rustoff, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1I was wondering this too. I don't read Japanese, but unless every chapter of Yotsuba&! I've read is translated wrong, it's definitely Danbo.
- Conguent, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1Wall-e was a nice touch.
- MrWally, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1Yes, I saw that, I was hoping there were options outside of having to import it from Japan. And, preferably, for less of a cost than those.
- gerryk, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1Proof, as though it were needed, that the image comes from the photographer and that the camera is just a tool. Some of my favourite shots were taken with a crappy plastic camera with a rubbish single element plastic lens.
- Turious, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1It's made of solid cardboard!
