Lego Beijing Olympics Doesn't Include Tibetan Monk Minifigs
gizmodo.com — It was only a matter of time before someone turned the Beijing Olympics installations into Lego. Our friends at Brothers Brick discovered the landmarks —like the Nest Sports Ground or the iconic Water Cube—Lego'ized by the Honk Kong Lego Users Group. The attention to detail is particularly impressive in the high resolution images.

- maxthreepwood, on 07/25/2008, -6/+30The water cube is absolutely perfect. But where are the demonstrators? And the tanks rolling over people? And the smog?
- giantdigger, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Tanks are here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJC1unnuwds
- raada, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4And the demonstrators will not exist at the time of the games either... Shot or in prison, just like in Tibet. It will be fun to see what happens when they shoot or arrest the first tourist.... Glad I'm not going there.
- mrcow05, on 07/26/2008, -1/+0That's just not true...parks close to the venue have been designated for protests.
So you want to help Tibet bring back religious violence, serfdom, and economic exploitation? Tibetans currently enjoy affirmative action when applying to schools, renowned artists, and an improved economic status. Of course the media never mentions that. It would rather lie:

China has a long way to go on human rights, but I will bet that you will not be arrested or shot during your stay there...the real reason why you don't want to go is probably due to the preconceptions and biases branded in your mind, which is a shame, really.

Which is correct as the plural of LEGO: 'Lego' or 'Legos'?
Neither, actually. The word 'LEGO', when used as a noun, should only refer to the company that makes the product. Otherwise 'LEGO' is supposed to be used as an adjective. Thus, when referring to the pieces, neither 'lego' nor 'legos' is correct... rather one should say: 'LEGO bricks' or 'LEGO pieces' or whatever (using LEGO as an adjective -- and one should really capitalize all of the letters, and put the little 'circle-R' symbol after it (®)). This is all a matter of protecting the trademark of 'LEGO' for the company (using it otherwise degenerates the strength of the trademark). This is not to say that I use the word correctly 100% of the time... but that's the answer to the question (it's always fun/painful to read the near-flame-wars that start at slashdot.org over this topic... and generally, both sides are wrong).
- Odenized, on 07/25/2008, -0/+8These are some of the best Lego creations I've seen, and they're very timely all the same.
- spazzx625, on 07/25/2008, -1/+15Why isn't Lego Batman defending the city?
- hba718, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Amazing lego friend!
- sillykalcifer, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2who the hell calls it the nest sports ground and water cube?
bubble pool, bird's nest anyone? - tomazws, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2Awesome details on the water cube! The only thing missing is the fog machine blowing smog imitation.
- Aliwalla, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2how exactly will the cube break down into the old legos box and end up as a sides of a ship eventually?
- mmockett, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Lego of that!
Doesn't work. - War3Zone, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2:O Impressive

- welliwonder, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1ah more lego spam
- Analogic, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3Can we PLEASE leave the politics out of it for a second??!!! This is a LEGO Project for crying out loud. Why bringing in the firing squads and the tanks?
- Jolreal, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Did we have to drag Lego into this?
- macmangb, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1What they didn't tell you were that Tibetan slaves were used to build these 'iconic' buildings. In the last 3 years while building for the olympics millions of Tibetans have been murdered, political dissidents have been shot in the streets of Beijing and Tibetan owned businesses burnt to the ground by chinese troops.
- mateoberry, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1you're full of *****.

That's too bad, I was hoping to recreate old Tibet with the monk elites and their hordes of slaves. - jlrewinds, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0This is so stupid.
