- amabaie, on 04/16/2009, -1/+13I guess edible art is at least as good as any other.
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -2/+11I've seen this before, but it's still cool! The coffee house I go to www.klatchroasting.com does latte art and it makes getting the coffee so much more fun!
- bpwrinn, on 04/16/2009, -1/+9Because what takes a guy 30 seconds to do will double if not triple the price of the drink.
And it's cool as *****. - FirstOne1, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5because people like an aesthetically pleasing experience
- bpwrinn, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5You've never had a Latte before have you?
- nmoulana, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5Is that a screw driver?
- AlexWiggy, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4I can do this sort of stuff in my work (I work in a café / Art Gallery).
I'm not amazing at it, I can mainly just make the leaf shape.
But my friend who works with me is really good, takes a lot of practice and is definitely a lot harder than it looks.
The frothing of the milk is the key step, it needs to be a perfect silky texture with a lot of micro foam. - neillawson, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4Quite the contrary actually...
- aseainme, on 04/16/2009, -4/+8It's an extra ordinary art work. great one!
- GroundIsSound, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4a little too much cream for my taste
- christoast, on 04/16/2009, -1/+5I don't know why but this reminded me of vaginas
- memper, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4Would you prefer a domino's pizza method?
- amitforu78, on 04/16/2009, -3/+7cool stuff !
- LonelyTylenoL, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4That's what she said!
- Snappysnap, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3But really what's the point of you? You're just gonna get drunk.
- PixelMagic, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3I could have done that.
- snobrder218, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3Doesn't mean ***** needs to be on the front page several ***** times.
- memper, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3or suddenly find yourself with type 2 Diabetes from ingesting to much processed artificial flavor shots!
pumpkin spice fun! - snobrder218, on 04/16/2009, -1/+3April 26, 2006. Wow Digg. Really? Stop digging this ***** to the front page.
- bpwrinn, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2Hey, I could do that.
- mogwaiinjustice, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2let me tell you about a nice little painter known as Georgia O'keefe
- PhairOh, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2Where in Chicago is this? I've been looking for a nice non-Starbucks-like coffee shop to spend some time in and have yet to find one to my liking.
- matthewf01, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2This stuff is so hard to do... i've been playing with my espresso machine for a year and still can't get the cool leaf pattern with milk froth.
I usually end up drawing stuff with coffee on top of the milk foam, like lame hearts on valentine's day and stuff. :) - 2Pharcyded, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2considering what prices art pieces are estimated on (nothing) these should be considered priceless
- techguy82, on 04/16/2009, -1/+3Pretty tempting...
- richard.spence, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2I like coffee!
- BoneStamp, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2You will forever be in debt to starbucks.
- diggaddictive, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2dugg for jawas talking in the background!
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -1/+3It's from Caffe Art Java in Montreal near where I study :)
- BoneStamp, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2I prefer the gangster starbucks at o'hare... funniest starbucks ever.
- RomeyRome, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1Naah. That's a pussy with teeth.
- spthomp, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1Great, Gretchen, that's neat, NOW GET BACK TO WORK
- revenant, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1I went to a coffee shop in Vancouver which did these designs in lattes.
- attn2risky, on 04/16/2009, -1/+2seen it before, but it's still cool. a list of where you could actually OBTAIN the latte art would be way cooler.
- memper, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1::
http://www.cafferom.com/
The locations are in the about section I think. It might be more starbucks like than you wish, but they have a true Italian atmosphere, if not a bit overly modern.
I think what you're looking for is Intelligentsia Coffee. One of their baristas has consistently won national espresso pulling competitions[yes they have those]. http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/ - hendrixlives64, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1i could see this being somewhat of a draw for customers at a coffee shop or something... but art? come on, they were drawing bunny rabbits and butterflies in like 30 seconds. it's nifty.
- memper, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1There is a guy at RoM in Chicago who will do this now and then. The whole staff seems to be trained to at least create a leaf design on every latte using just the milk steamer. It might be pointless, but you know these people love making you the best coffee they can.
- Doomsan, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1A little music would've helped.
- anenokoji, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1This is digg, what did you expect?
- cheska732, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1I think it was really neat.. just goes to show you you never know who is making your coffee.. it could be the next Picasso!!
- BongWaterSmells, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1You can't do that with tea, that's for sure
- TapperJones, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1As somebody who has worked in a coffee house, I can tell you how much harder it is to do than it looks. This guy is a serious pro.
- anniejmiller, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1TIPS
and people will come back to that coffee shop that made them "those cool-looking lattes" - trigon77, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1dugg for patio shakes
- Poppinfresh, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1 Things like this make me sad i only drink black coffee :(
I remember at a local cafe once my mother ordered a de-caf cappuccino with no fat milk, the barista wrote "y bother" on the top with coca powder. - mattofasia, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1The impermanence... buddhist art. Latte art. True zen.
- Metricula, on 04/17/2009, -0/+1Cheers from another barista. :)
