- kaijunexus, on 04/07/2009, -2/+26Am I the only one thinking "meh"? They're very detailed, but it's all post-apocalyptic cityscapes and elemental fairy women...
- rocketpop, on 04/07/2009, -0/+12His figure drawing isn't all that good, but he's got some cool scenic work. Overall, though, most of them look like covers to bad Junior-High level sci-fi books.
- evisr8r, on 04/07/2009, -0/+12poor anatomy in some places kinda turns me off (mainly the dead bodies) but the colors and contrast are kinda interesting although they feel like HDR made it's way into painting.
The subjects and compositions are pretty interesting though, and the attention to detail is magnifico. A lot of work has gone into these (yes you can see shortcuts like possibly bryce or some photo textures, but that's part of the gig nowadays). - absolutelytrue, on 05/26/2009, -6/+17Whoa... freakin' incredible.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -1/+11While technically proficient, would I hang this in my home, no. There is no thought or feelings to the work either, just a bunch of cliche morbid death and armageddon scenes. Anyway I know I will be buried by 15 year-olds who think they "look cool", but he won't be at the Hermitage anytime soon.
- Larssonk22, on 04/07/2009, -0/+10Sorry but these are not "Insanely Amazing Digital Paintings" they show creativity but overall they are nothing special, these paintings are saved by the digital effects on them, remove that and the drawing themselves look poor.
These would go down as "Insanely Amazing Digital Paintings"

http://chix0r.deviantart.com/ - FTLJohnson, on 04/07/2009, -0/+8These are good, sure... INSANELY AMAZING? I dunno... They look like a lot of artwork I've seen on Magic the Gathering Cards.... is every piece of art on every magic card INSANELY AMAZING? Beside, it looks kind of obvious to me that for some of these, he was photoshop painting OVER photographs that he spliced together in photoshop.... That's kind of like INSANELY TRACING. Then again, many of the italian masters did exactly that using camera obscura....
I dunno, I'd definitely use this guy if I were a metal band looking for an album cover. - gamebittk, on 04/06/2009, -3/+11Wow, all of those pictures are amazing. I wish I could draw like that.
- wastingpenguins, on 04/07/2009, -0/+8As a digital painter myself who spends ridiculous amounts of time on forums with mindblowing professional concept artists... this guy is nothing special. His figures are especially weak.
- solecize, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7It's good to know that the Epcot center will still be around after the apocalypse
- 1865, on 04/07/2009, -7/+14Utterly appalling 'art' . Great if you're a 14 year old nerd with your pants around your ankles. Wank, wank, wank.
- satori3000, on 04/07/2009, -1/+8looks like stuff I used to paint in my teens when I would smoke weed.
- BenTheTank, on 04/07/2009, -2/+9I'm not really into this style of art... but those are very impressive.
- Jingocat, on 04/07/2009, -0/+6Those would look right in place airbrushed on the side of a custom van, circa 1983.
- EddyRX10, on 04/07/2009, -0/+6Whats with all the Emo Deviant art style images on Digg front page lately?
Granted I couldn't create these but its no better than the next fantasy/gothic picture you would find by searching Deviant art.
/rant - rekonize, on 04/07/2009, -0/+6I wondered if anyone else noticed that.
Can anyone out there actually blow there own minge? - lauridsd, on 04/07/2009, -0/+6I guess I am not a fan of the genre. His skill is unquestionable, but the subject matter and style is too: EMO/goth meets velvet Elvis. I have to agree with rocketpop and Jingocat on this one.
It is not that he isn't incredibly talented at doing the style that he does...I guess I am just not a fan of that style.
But if that's your thing, then yeah, this stuff is great. - biruta, on 04/07/2009, -1/+7Insanely amazingly ugly.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -3/+8I like the redhead. Amazing paintings.
- jfoobar, on 04/07/2009, -0/+5Have to concur. Some nice talent on display here but there is nothing "insanely amazing" about either the technical or artistic results.
- inactive, on 09/13/2009, -5/+9Sweet
- Biroboy, on 04/07/2009, -3/+6You guys should check out his Deviant Art page
http://alexiuss.deviantart.com/
He leaves the weirdest Journal entries but amazing work! - whiledo, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3Apocalypse much?
- foohookups311, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3And to make it even more amazing he did them all in MS Paint.....
- sgtbutterscotch, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3I wish I could draw.
- Platypus3333, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3You guys should check out the work of Craig Mullins, the god-king of digital illustrators.
His site is located at http://www.goodbrush.com, but for some inexplicable reason, a lot of his work is down. The quick tour gives you a pretty good idea of what he is capable of, though. - Vodd9, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3I was thinking that there's are too many cliche elements to be qualified as "insanely amazing".
- npiv, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2why are you wanking to the end of the world?
You're not one of those religious nuts are you... - sooperskip, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2That's too funny, it really is. As I was viewing it, I kept repeating "Meh..." in my head.
He's quite talented, more so than I'll ever dream to be, but there is no genius to the work. It's all very "CD label of some terrible unsigned Death-Metal Band" or "1980's Horrible Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi B-Movie."
Amongst normally skilled people its incredible. Amongst truly talented people and other submissions I've seen on the inter-webs.... it's really quite average. - FredFredrickson, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2...Peter Griffin?
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2Frazetta eats artists like these for breakfast.
- satori3000, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2It's like night and day, that stuff is so much better, and not simply in a painting technique sort of way. Composition and and expression is so much more clearly defined. Looks like the work of someone who is quite a bit more mature than what is linked to in this story.
- TheWrathOfSean, on 04/07/2009, -1/+2Those are really awesome, but he's gotta be tracing photographs for the architecture. Whatever works in the end, I suppose.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1They are cool but all look kind of similar.
- Zodiachus, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Agreed! I love the way alien elements are inserted into a familiar environment - like the seemingly magic creatures in a post-apocalyptic city. It makes me wonder what the story behind the painting is.
- StrangeFamous, on 04/07/2009, -2/+3Oh great and knowledgeable internet art critic, please tell us what we're supposed to like!
Sure, the subject matter is pretty derivative (which can be said about pretty much everything to a degree), but the technique is good, and he's got a large body of detailed and colorful work on his site that involves more than just apocalyptic scenery.
Then again, I'm not acting like a snobbish prick about it, so I can't possibly know what REAL art is. - phenom2k7, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Where are these forums you speak of.
- Triterion, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Yeah, I don't like his use of color. I think he must do them all as greyscale and then overlay a color. His composition and linework is good, but he should take a color theory class and then he'd be a lot better.
- gdha, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1That is amazing! Great pictures. Very talented. Thanks for the post.
- cfuse, on 04/08/2009, -0/+130 years ago this guy would've been airbrushing panel vans.
- sooperskip, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1I thought I was the only one who noticed that.... very funny.
- Biroboy, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1lol yh and lots of butter =P :S
- seeanimal, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1some of the Chix0r stuff is pretty good ('Poppy','Terminal Frost', 'Valentemo') But most of this digital painting twaddle is so much clichéd post-apocalyptic/straight fantasy/horror or unoriginal design showcases. It comes off as adolescent *****, without notable form or content despite the fact that clearly a lot of time and technique has been put into it.
- ansatsu29, on 04/07/2009, -1/+2Damn..
Jaw dropping paintings.
Cool! - dazparkour, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Let's see.
- SpiderTeets, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Interstella 5555
- Elpants, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1I have been following him for since the day I joined DA.
I love his journals about people stealing his art, normally with really bad photoshop retouches. - Grolsch, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1I bet you can do better or see art like this all the time.
Your comments is MEH - mrdctaylor, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Meh. Look like illustrations I see in a lot of the crappy calendars for sale every year in the mall.
- ndgv2, on 04/07/2009, -0/+0Not really all that impressive. He needs to study anatomy and most of his work has conflicting light sources. It also looks like he has used the dodge/burn tools for shadows and highlights which is a pretty amateur way to paint. Im not impressed.
