- datagod, on 11/08/2008, -4/+33Nifty, but I have to ask doesn't the artist get bore of painting the same expressionless face over and over? But maybe that is the point...
- schnikies79, on 11/09/2008, -3/+24Wow. I bet this guy is fun to hang out with.....
- klick37, on 11/09/2008, -0/+18I think I'm more confused than awed.
- bmw112208, on 11/09/2008, -1/+18Some say his inspiration is oppression. Others say it is a mix of mundane existence and creativity.
Personally, I just think he's on enough PCP to kill a horse. - inactive, on 11/09/2008, -2/+18Wow, there are some impressively accomplished metaphors in there.
- PrintScrn12, on 11/09/2008, -0/+8I think he was on the second floor.

- Whackly, on 11/09/2008, -1/+6Let's dig up his corpse and find out!
- sat0shi, on 11/10/2008, -0/+5I've loved Tetsuya Ishida's work ever since I saw a documentary about him on Japanese TV a few years ago. He truly captures the essence of what it means to be a student, salaryman, or citizen of Japan. His paintings of the salarymen most often depicted as machines or some other part of a piece of infrastructure of some sort are truly captivating and speak so much to me. While I've chosen not to go down that path myself here in Japan, when you're walking in the city and you see the salarymen walking by, you'll truly understand these paintings. 95% of the time they have the same expressionless, empty face you see depicted in Ishida's paintings here. Their eyes honestly look as if their is so soul behind them... it really is a depressing sight to see and I wish things would change here. Anyway, very thought provoking stuff.
- inactive, on 11/09/2008, -1/+6whats with the walrus and black guys playing basketball?

- triblinator, on 11/09/2008, -0/+4What a strange person... I didn't know surrealism had so thoroughly continued into the present.

- gullevek, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2If possible, get the book.
"From the Book 「石田徹也遺作集」ISBN4-7630-0629-0
Ishida died only 31 years old. But his art has touched me as almost no art has touched me before. I highly recommend his book. You can find it at amazon.jp or at japanese book stores."
This is just really amazing. Especially if you live or lived in Japan you will understand his drawings more and more - SurlyDuff, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2That was my first thought too....
- Dudemeyster, on 11/09/2008, -1/+3The guy who does Sinfest has almost the same name. Tatsuya Ishida.
- fearlessfx, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2damn, i knew i had heard the name before... this definitely doesnt look like the same style of drawing though lol
- pennvneff, on 11/09/2008, -1/+3Died by being hit by a train? Many people in Japan commit suicide by going out on the train tracks in Japan, I'm wondering if this was a suicide.
- xgambetx, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2WTF...

Althought this one is re-listed after not selling last time for $130,000 USD:

- PrometheusZero, on 11/09/2008, -2/+3I like the one where he's pissing into that boy's mouth. I'm sure that's not illegal in Japan.
- andreegal, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1You can feel the pressure of modern living in those paintings amazing....
- slapded, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1most of these reminded me of my old dialup modem days.

- mgelman08, on 11/09/2008, -1/+2The Chinese/Japanese art movements are really an inspiration currently in a period of artistic bankruptcy specifically in the US.
- SeekerDarksteel, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1Sinfest is done by *TA*tsuya Ishida.
- goddessophia, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Definitively worth notice, but I would have to contemplate each painting who long periods of time before I could even grasp a minute understanding of the impression.
- ninfreak92, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Japanese don't use the machines, they are the machines!!
