- wrenchone, on 10/04/2008, -3/+149I fail to see how this is a significant problem.
- sdellboy, on 10/05/2008, -0/+87"Sarah is well-spoken. Her father works in the City. She left school with three A-levels, but by the age of 23 she was drinking heavily and had developed a cocaine habit. Unable to hold down a job, she ended up becoming a lap-dancer in the capital."
So, she had a drink and coke problem BEFORE she became a stripper? So without the lap-dancing club career she could have resorted to...theft, dealing or prostitution? Now she's clean and has a career as a photographer? Sounds like stripping saved her life to me.
The Daily Mail: Read By The Wives Of People Who Think They Run The Country - bixby1, on 10/04/2008, -4/+74The real tragedy here is the 25 pound lap dance. Price alone should keep people away.
- diggstown, on 10/05/2008, -1/+62It's true. If the dance is really good, I'm usually powerless to stop the huge growth.
Kind of depends on how much I've had to drink that night though. - 1776, on 10/04/2008, -2/+41Interesting article.. in the U.S., zoning regulations generally keep these places away from the schools, children and churches. This issue is one that shouldn't be dictated by federal laws though, I hate the idea of government pushing morality on society. Generally, though.. that is what happens. In Texas, there is a rule where dancers aren't supposed to grind or get 'too close' to the patron. California, not so much.. heck, they even offer to take you to the "dark room" where pretty much anything goes. In my view, private establishments should be left alone as long as this activity is discrete and kids aren't allowed on the premises.
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -1/+36I think the first problem here is that I don't think anyone realized we were trying to stop the spread of lap-dance clubs in the first place. I certainly wasn't aware.
- theodenking, on 10/05/2008, -0/+34Obviously you're not a tabloid-reading moron, congratulations!
- Azerael, on 10/05/2008, -3/+34Buried for Daily Mail
- Anjow, on 10/05/2008, -2/+30I don't like christian book shops. And I'm powerless to stop the huge growth in them.
Boo ***** hoo. Prudes. - Meccabilly, on 10/05/2008, -1/+29Daily Mail:
It's just abohorent that these young, nubile, attractive young ladies will be exposing thier young, nubile, naked bodies to anyone who wants. Look at these pictures, arn't you just shocked and appaled. My god, can you imagine just being there, staring at them slowly girating? Can you imagine seeing them slowly taking thier clothes off?
It's simply shocking and awful and it shouldn't be allowed. Shocking. The naked, naked, young women. It's just... awful. - ryan83189, on 10/05/2008, -1/+27We sat idly while they shook their boobs in our faces. When their asses got dangerously close to our laps we also did nothing. It stops now! I have to put my foot down and my belt on and stand up to this and say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I no longer have any more money to tip you!".
- babylonian, on 10/05/2008, -1/+27Not as tragic as the 250-pound free lap dance.
- iceman0113, on 10/05/2008, -3/+28Not from theonion? Then again, dailymail is almost at that level of news anyway...
- nedzeve, on 10/05/2008, -1/+22Paying a chick in a bikini to rub her ass on your crotch? Works for me.
- ilikedemoon, on 10/04/2008, -1/+20Sometimes a lap dance is the only way guys can get lucky.
- kekemortson, on 10/05/2008, -2/+20Forget the bailout, the economy, and high gas prices....this is the REAL problem! "Honest, I tried to stop her!"
- krisjanis, on 10/05/2008, -1/+18...its creating jobs...
- rabidbob, on 10/05/2008, -2/+17The real tragedy here is the Daily Fail paying to get their stories on to Digg.
- rabidbob, on 10/05/2008, -0/+15Teenage school boys everywhere would disagree.
- Murrabbit, on 10/05/2008, -4/+17That's one very light lap dance. I like mine to weight at least 100 pounds, and even then, only if she's really short.
- hugolp, on 10/05/2008, -1/+13I fail to see how this is a problem.
- Loonacy, on 10/05/2008, -0/+11UK? Which state is that?
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+10I'd often wondered what Admiral Akbar's first name was
- NSResponder, on 10/05/2008, -3/+13If you don't like it, then don't spend your money on it.
-jcr - cgbspender, on 10/05/2008, -0/+10Lap dances do not hurt anybody, murder does.
- mickstephenson, on 10/05/2008, -2/+12Oh noes, a kid walks past an inconspicuous building labelled, Angels, or Secrets, they are sure to be scarred forever.
- waydee, on 10/05/2008, -2/+11The Daily Mail: Fascism? No problem! Strip clubs? SHUT THEM DOWN!
- dsmx, on 10/05/2008, -0/+9Nice Yes prime minister reference there.
- Jonjonjonny, on 10/05/2008, -1/+9***** the Daily Mail.
- hwy9nightkid, on 10/05/2008, -0/+8you KNOW this article is from the UK right?
- CVL4317, on 10/04/2008, -1/+9404 at "disturbing investigation"
- mohsenxp, on 10/05/2008, -1/+9Try going to Prague!
There's a lap dancing club everywhere! No back streets, no side alleys, right next door to a supermarket! Right next to a business district. Those guys are proud!
Me and 5 friends went for a week for a cultural holiday! 3 of us came back corrupted as *****. Luckily I was broke so I had no choice. - CarnivalOfDust, on 10/05/2008, -0/+7I keep trying to leave comments on their articles, but the only one that got allowed through the moderation (read: 'censorship') process was one purporting to be from a 32 year old single mother raging about violent videogames and how they were corrupting Britain and rotting it to the core.
- guyincognitoo, on 10/05/2008, -0/+7Just tell her you are doing your part to put money back into the economy.
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -0/+7Thumbs up for burying for Daily Mail.
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+8That's not what he's talking about. When we complain about "legislating morality," we're talking about being given laws that tell us how we're supposed to behave as people, laws that touch on subjects far beyond its intended scope. An example of "legislating morality" that you'll understand is the grossly unfair laws against sodomy that we only recently did away with. The government has no business telling us what kind of sex we can and can't have with a legally consenting partner.
- Nintendesert, on 10/05/2008, -0/+6That's incorrect, good lap dances lead to severe "carpet burns."
- jpmvp, on 10/05/2008, -1/+7So sad to see the daily wail cropping up on the front page of digg so much these days. The paper is a sad excuse for journalism that likes run stories that will arouse negative feelings in their readership. This article is a perfect example. Its almost parody!
I live in the same town as Wiggle. I got married in the building when it was a registry office. I have lived and worked close to the club. I can tell you that the few basic facts of the story are correct. But the ludicrous, emotive spin layered on top distorts so much as remove any useful meaning from the story. - Llanowar, on 10/05/2008, -1/+7Just lighten up and it's no problem at all.
- faskill, on 10/05/2008, -0/+6What does that have to do with the article?
- aforce369, on 10/05/2008, -1/+7I'm a victim, but I'm not complaining.
- CarnivalOfDust, on 10/05/2008, -0/+6It's not the conservativism that annoys me - I like that Digg comes up with different stuff from various viewpoints, and if it was all the same liberal stuff, it'd get pretty dull in the long run.
What annoys me most about the DM is the ridiculous level of sensationalism. I'm sure that I'm not alone here in being able to spot a DM article almost instantly from the title... - waydee, on 10/05/2008, -1/+7An article like this is just proof of the dailymail gaming digg - clearly this article is in direct opposition with the majority of diggers beliefs yet it still somehow appears on the front page?
Ban this right wing tabloid spam, I'm tired of them successfully propping up their conservative trash reporting website with digg. - mal1964, on 10/05/2008, -0/+6Vices are recession proof.
- JohnFlux, on 10/05/2008, -0/+5Most gays tend to be fairly liberal, and wouldn't mind such a strip club.
- Skod, on 10/05/2008, -0/+5I still don't see the merits of paying for a cocktease. Is it really that hard to find a woman who wants to sleep with you? or a prostitute that will actually do the act rather than wear down your denim?
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+6I just want a happy ending.
- ORDtoLAX, on 10/05/2008, -1/+6Ron Paul for Prime Minister?
- JustinHopewell, on 10/05/2008, -0/+5His heart is in the right place, even if the location isn't.
- wexmajor, on 10/05/2008, -1/+5I'm digging this up because I think it's important to remember that a good moronic chunk of the population cares about stupid inconsequential ***** like strip clubs.
