- johndajap56, on 01/23/2009, -0/+19Probably the most iconic picture since Che Guevara
- bigsheldy, on 01/23/2009, -2/+20As a graphic designer I definitely love this poster.
As a Republican...I still love this poster. - OneySeal, on 01/22/2009, -0/+13RISD in effect. That's rad.
- superfrodies, on 01/22/2009, -1/+12OBEY was a cool movement until he made it into a clothing line. seemed kinda counter productive
- lovemorgul, on 01/22/2009, -2/+11 no surprised about the Obama posters were a runaway success.
- statuescrumble, on 01/23/2009, -2/+10I love this guy so much. Btw, this is interesting:
Fairey distributed a staggering 300,000 stickers and 500,000 posters during the election campaign, funding his grassroots electioneering through poster and fine art sales."I just put all that money back into making more stuff, so I didn't keep any of the Obama money," said Fairey in a December 2008 interview.[26] Fairey received a formal letter of thanks from Barack Obama for his contribution to his 2008 presidential campaign. The letter stated:
“ I would like to thank you for using your talent in support of my campaign. The political messages involved in your work have encouraged Americans to believe they can change the status-quo.
Your images have a profound effect on people, whether seen in a gallery or on a stop sign. I am privileged to be a part of your artwork and proud to have your support. - Barack Obama, February 22, 2008 - zdiddy85, on 01/23/2009, -2/+7When it was first introduced to Digg:

Yep. Everyone's a DJ and Graphic Designer. Yawn.
Mr. Fairey on the other hand can do what ever the ***** he wants. So, no problem here. - StickWST, on 01/23/2009, -0/+5commitone -
wtf? I googled that to check, and WTF?
An artist that good going blind thats mad depressing. - StickWST, on 01/23/2009, -0/+4Glad to see someone that shares that view.
He inspired me to start really working on my graffiti talents, then I saw a bunch of poser kids at school wearing his shirts, it was kinda sad actually.
After watching the video however, I see where he is going with that Obama poster at least. - commitone, on 01/23/2009, -1/+4Its called business and marketing. He is also going blind, so he needs to produce and market as much as he can while he's able to.
- barthook, on 01/23/2009, -0/+3I love the look of the poster but as a designer/photographer I am more than a bit disappointed that he has yet to credit the original photographer.
- liquisoft, on 01/23/2009, -1/+4The Obama posters were awesome, but their popularity and sheer number meant people were bound to start ***** with them.
On Hollywood Blvd, there is a cluster of these posters on an old building. Somebody has drawn Hitler mustaches on most of them. Others just got devil horns or silly glasses. - olie_baba, on 01/23/2009, -4/+7***** Shepard. Sample that Fairey.
- kingmanic, on 01/23/2009, -2/+5Sorry your party loss and you feel you'll be impotent for the next 4 years. I hear cialis helps?
- jdavscru, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2He has denied that he's loosing his vision. He has had some successful surgeries that have taken care of the problem for now. http://animalnewyork.com/news/2008/05/no-end-in-si ...
- anagoge, on 01/23/2009, -0/+2Consider goatse.
- Electrosaurus, on 01/23/2009, -3/+5I'm getting rather tired of Mr Fairey... he really is doing a good job of flogging this horse...

I wish I went to RISD instead of SCAD. You guys get John Maeda for a President, while we have *ahem*, "someone else." - wallkill, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1Shep screen-printed his art onto t-shirts since the beginning of his art career. But I agree, his message gets diluted a bit when you see his shirts in Nordstrom and stuff.
- freakzp, on 01/23/2009, -2/+3LOL!!! Che! Commandante!
- statuescrumble, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1I applied to colleges this year, and one of my biggest regrets thus far is not applying to RISD, or at least trying other routes before going into ***** engineering at a UC school.
- Meekrab, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Shepard needs a way to fund his campaign, so in a way I could see how that would look like selling out.

- spookyturtle, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1Pssh, SAIC all the way.
- john2kx, on 01/23/2009, -1/+2I like what Obama's doing, but this poster is a little bit too much..
To me, it sort of represents the cult of personality that surrounds the guy.. - TacosTacos, on 01/23/2009, -2/+3Stealing from artists of the past is one thing:

But stealing from contemporaries is a whole other issue:

No Thanks! - bassoondux, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1Maeda is AMAZING! I saw him speak last semester. What an incredible dude.
- youngdb, on 01/23/2009, -2/+2I actually LOVED this poster. It became iconic and is done in a really cool style.
I remember seeing this for the first time in person way back during the Mississippi primaries I volunteered. This guy that drove from Texas had quiet a few from when they were handing them out for free in Texas during the primaries, and I got one from him.
I remember thinking "Wow. These are amazing". Since then of course I got the t-shirt, the stickers.
The Yes We Did design is really cool too. I think Shepard could have left it at that, but who could turn down making the Inauguration poster for President Obama? That was his entire purpose from the time the Hope poster came out. - inactive, on 01/23/2009, -3/+3Communism never dies, it just gets repackaged.
- maxwashere, on 01/23/2009, -3/+3Surprised this wasn't photoshopped.
- junskey, on 01/23/2009, -2/+2who cares hes a ***** punk rocker and hell kick your death in if you ask him that
UP DA PUNX!!!!! - momomathew, on 01/23/2009, -9/+3A Ramones T-shirt? I wonder what his favorite song is?
- DouglasQ, on 01/23/2009, -8/+1Fairy Shepherd.
...I'm gonna have THE best dream tonight. - orubinstein, on 01/22/2009, -13/+6Enough with the Obama mania.
- poprocksandsoda, on 01/23/2009, -14/+3These posters remind me of Obama's promise to close Gitmo. Good to see he ordered its immediate shutdown today. Oh, snap ... 1 year from now. Apparently Gitmo is so bad he can tolerate it another year. I think the poster of Obama would do a better job as POTUS based on the bait and switch he's done to this point. Sad to see him break his promises.
